  1. Can any helpful, green-fingered soul help me out? I am chasing blood and bone for the garden, but my Thai doesn't stretch that far (apparently). I need the Thai words and if possible, the item written in Thai script for the helpful denizens of Kamtieng market.

    Organic thanks in advance

  2. I agree that NIS seems a good choice. I would like to see Art, Music, Drama, Athletics, Health and Foreign languages included in the curriculum though.

NIS does have all of the above mentioned courses in their curriculum.

    Not according to the website.

I have 3 kids at NIS. The oldest 2 have art, music and PE as part of their regular school day. Now if they want to be involved in the orchestra that is a club activity the same as the swim team or track team.

If they wanted to learn Spanish or another foreign language that is probably either an elective subject or after school club, but I am not sure about that.

Ah! I think they are confusing, "elective" with "extracurricular." Why do supposedly top schools use big words if they don't understand what they mean. A bit embarrassing for them?

  3. So why u like to see it included in the curriculum if it is already included ?

    somewhat misunderstand this post perhaps

wish i was native in english ..

I agree that NIS seems a good choice. I would like to see Art, Music, Drama, Athletics, Health and Foreign languages included in the curriculum though.

It lists the subjects and there is a separate section headed,"extracurricular." That means outside of, or not part of the curriculum.

  4. I had great service from Magellan hand held units, navigating a small yacht in places it should not have been, about ten years ago. With particular reference to marine apps, does anyone have any comments about current Magellan units, or recommendations for alternatives?

  5. Just went in for a try. Thought I might have a burger. Nobody waiting for food. Place about half full. Five people stuffing around and nobody took my order in spite of my Marcel Marceaux impressions; just nice smiles. After 20 minutes and another later arrival being served, I left. They lose.

  6. I hope this doesn't mean that other schools associated with him are under threat.

I just recently visited Prem International School in Chiang Mai and was quite impressed by it.

I heard they may be changing the name because of the association with Prem, rumour or confirmed anyone know?

Name changed to PTIS some time ago.

  7. Really you only have two options, the Lampang, Tak, Mae Sot route on Highways 11, 1 and 105 or Mae Sariang, Mae Sot on Highways 108 and 105.

Both are easy and drivable without GPS, just don't turn off the main road and if memory serves me right are a little over 300 k's.

As long as we're offerring up the longer option to Mae Sot via Mae Sariang, there are 3 ways to get to Mae Sariang:

    1. Direct via Hot

    2. Chom Thong - Mae Chaem - then south to Mae Sariang

    3. Chom Thong - Mae Chaem - then west to Khun Yuam and then south to Mae Sariang

All are beautiful but will take all day. Narrow, twisty mountain roads and sections of Hiway 105 are in pretty bad shape.

Very important to book accommodation ahead in Mae Sot. The town is full of NGOs and is not bursting with beds. The Mae Sariang option is much prettier. The road is in reasonable shape, with some rough sections.

  8. Thanks Sparkles. To the rest; I hope you enjoyed your linguistic titillation. Although I can't find it in the Australian Oxford or on Google, I have to assume that it is a rare FNQ dialect.
