lol.. How can I have it wrong? This is what the Thai consulate to Laos told me directly... Perhaps you should go and explain to the Consulate in Laos how immigration works.. Clown
How does a person who doesn't believe you immediately get the label of "clown".
Perhaps you're the clown...with comments such as "This is what the Thai Consulate to Laos told me directly". You expect us to believe you had a conversation with the Thai Consulate over tourist visa abuse.
I don't think you've even been there and you're making this up.
lol.. Why on earth would I be 'making it up'? What is so unbelieveable about me having a conversation with the consulate about tourist visa abuse??
FYI... He's a friendly guy who happens to smoke, and who happened to be upstairs having a smoke when I was upstairs getting some photocopies done.. We got chatting for what must have been 30 minutes and he told me what I posted already, along with some other info about these 'red stamps' which I ain't going to post here because it would set the cat amongst the pigeons with muppets like you claiming 'lier, lier' as it would probably conflict with your own perceived *cough* expert knowlege..

Iam 100% Sure that after the Free VISA trial , the Consulate in Vientiane will issue Tourist Visas again for them with RED stamps ! ., this issue why they started to sign out RED stamps is was done becuse they wanted to put down the foot to show they dont like to give away Visas for free ! So all is going to get back to normal after the free Visa trial March 2010 .
The reason they started to issue the red stamps is because far too many people are abusing tourist visas, and using them to stay in Thailand indefinitely when they should be getting a non-immigrant visa.
I've not had a red stamp and don't use tourist visa's, but this information was given direct to me from the Thai consulate to Laos himself, his take on the situation was that if people wanted to stay here indefinitely they should possess the correct visa and there was no good reason for people not to have an appropriate visa..
You've got this back to front. It becomes tedious on these threads to constantly hear people accusing tourist visa holders as "abusers".
You can't blame people for abusing anything if tourist visas are offered ad infinitum from a consulate. Obviously if the consulate continues to provide them people will go back and get them. Since when do people self regulate? On planet earth they don't. Where do you come from?
This "abuse" you speak of is initiated by the issuing consulates. They are responsible.
The only reason they have started issuing red stamp warnings is because of the directive from Thai Immigration back in September this year. Before that there didn't seem to be a limit.

BS : it's very rare in Bkk. even in Phuket or Samui !Sadly this it is commonplace to be attacked like this, but it very rarely gets reported as it is generally accepted that will be done by the police.much rarer than in the west, where you really must be on your guard at all times.
I feel sorry for the OP. As you said, the guy was probably high on a Ya-baa binge. Hope you'll feel better soon, and that it won't prevent you from doing things now. Don't be scared, it was just the wrong place at the wrong time, you will be ok now
lol.. I'd agree completely, it is very rare that a single Thai male would attack, and especially only armed with a stick..
Usually they would not attack a farang unless there was at least 4 of them armed with sticks, bottles, bricks, and perhaps a firearm (just to be on the safe side).

lol.. Thats got to be BS ^ ...
Exactly the same thing with CSLox.. Had CSlox, moved condo got a new CSlox contract, didn't bother paying the old one, never another mention of it.

I would agree with you on the PS3, but be cautious of the terrible dust in Thailand that seems to get in everywhere. I have to constantly clean my PS3, because once the dust gets into the console it's as good as a paperweight. The PS3 does cope a lot better with heat, and I have had hours of pleasure from mine, and don't regret spending the money on it. X-Box for me is just another Microsoft gimmick.
I've had mine since a week after they came out in Japan, never cleaned it once and it's always lived in central BKK. No problems so far. How do you go about cleaning them? Theres probably quite a bit of sh1t built up inside it by now.
One added use for em is to check to see if the maids are doing there job properly. If they wipe the exterior down, it will switch on every time

This is only for the elite. They carry a special card with private emergency contact numbers.
r u serious about this?

SBK is right. I am not Thai, but unless I had money invested, I don't know that I would waste my time calling--especially in Thailand where I might get someone who doesn't speak English or doesn't understand what I am doing.
If they had email, I would be polite enough to email them, but call--not unless I was getting my money back.
Waste your time? Never mind someone elses time and MONEY.
2 words.. PIG IGNORANT.

so, yabaa, you cite a foreigner's being inconsiderate about a booking and then say Thai people have a monopoly on it. Suggest a dictionary is a useful tool.
I have been running budget accommodation catering mainly to foreigners for years and have found surprise surprise, that without advance payment, nobody bothers to show up if they find something cheaper or better or their friends are staying somewhere else. In fact, even with advance payment, we get some people who still don't show up. and lo and behold, 99% of them are not Thai.
Get a way to take advance payment, even if its requiring direct deposit and you will find that these problems are not so prevalent.
"catering mainly to foreigners"
"99% of them are not Thai."
Perhaps theres some sort of correlation there?
-
"Reckon if Thai people have an appointment with a doctor that they cannot keep, they would certainly call to cancel, rather then just not showing up."
That's funny. I hope it was meant sarcastically.

Ya but I want to know how many readers their website lost due to incredibly slow loading times, up to 20 minutes a page. It has better writing than the Nation, yet I can't read it anymore. Disappointing.
Must be you. Mine never takes even 20 seconds to load.
20 seconds...

I think True put custom firmware on them and make them very difficult to flash?

No doubt he was dirving with as much care and attention as the rest of the bus drivers do...

For them to come out and anounce a 34% decrease, IMO it will be much worse....

I was told by someone in ATC at Don Muang that the plane was forced to land as it entered Thai airspace. It could have been scheduled to land here anyway, but as I heard it, it was escorted to the ground by the RTAF.
I cannot name the source for obvious reasons so regard this as a rumour if you like.
DM is a military installation.
Being scheduled to land here and escorted to ground, is a little different to being 'forced' to land...
If you were forced to do something, it would be something that you were not planning on doing unless you were 'forced' ?

Can you please advise where did you get your information?
No
oh ok, I understand you are making things up..
Understand whatever you like...

The payload was almost exculsively RPG's.
The Thai authorites had already been tipped off, and they'd warned the aircraft not to land in Thailand numerous times but the pilot ignored the requests... Apparently, the pilot was only bothered about his 2 bottles of russain vodka not getting impounded..
