It's got 4 HDMIs which I need now that I have my 360 Elite and I can finally hook my 2nd PC DVI to one of the HDMI's and view 1080p rips (my Sony would only take 720p from PC as it's an old 40")

Curious to see if the 200Mhz refresh rate will make any difference to blu rays, HD rips, PS3 and 360 games. Guess I'll find out soon.

checkout PS3mediaserver, you'll need a gigbit switch for 1080p movies though..

Nope 1080p movies generally top out around 12-13 mbps if they've been compressed. I use Tversity and watch all my 1080p HD rips on my PS3's only.

If your using TVersity they are not proper HD .mkv rips? The proper HD 1080p rip's are +8GB .mkv files?

TOPdogger -- I don't know your TG (or at least I don't think I do) but I do know a bunch of Thai girls that if they ever read or found out what you wrote about them on ThaiVisa.Com (and none of them speak English) they would kick you in the balls so hard that you might never slam anyone again EXCEPT IN YOUR DREAMS.

Anyway, from my experience it would be quite easy to hold down a gf without handing out " flowers? dinner? shoes? clothes? tamboon? jewelry? drinks?"... The dinner part might be a little tricky as couples need to eat together, but I suppose you/she could cook at home.. I would have thought you'll have to file a report with the police and then it will be down to them to get the ID card #, unless u know anyone who works at the bank..

I doubt any others would have been so stupid to send her 40k in the first place. And the fact that your "friend" lived in Bangkok, the same city as the person he's sent this 40k to without so much as meeting her just makes it seem even more stupid.

Go to hotmail.com and click on the "forgot my password" link. Fill in her email address and follow the steps. Hotmail will ask you two questions, 1. place of living and 2. something like mothers first name, birth date or first pets name.

If you answer both questions correctly then you can reset the password and login to her email account. You will probably find lots and lots of personal info in there which will help you to track her down.

Option 2. Go to the bank branch where she has an account and simply ask who holds the accountnumber.

I've been scammed once by an e-commerce store in my homecountry and that's the way i traced the account holders name. Thailand does not have a bank secrecy law so far i know, it shouldn't be too hard to get the right information.

I personally doubt the gf used the word "salary" understanding exactly what it meant. Maybe she did. Maybe she didnt. The statistical overwhelming probability however is that she is a normal thai girl trying to see if her boyfriend is capable of displaying generosity. From my experience of living in Pattaya i would say that 99.9999% of the guys i see out and about are paying for their girlfriends. Otherwise why would so many pretty girls allow themselfs to be mauled by old, fat, bald, nutty older men. I personally think 30k sounds cheap to rent a girlfriend

Something I forgot to mention... In the end I used a Thai guaranteur and paid a 20% deposit. But during the negotiations I was told that I could use a foreigner as guaranteur provided they had been working in Thailand for 8+ years.

Think the person who told you about 8 year thing is telling porkie pies, or just dont know what they are talking about...never heard of that one before...could we suggest making it up as they go along..

From what I can gather, this whole guaranteur thing doesn't really have a whole lot to do with cash when foreigners are involved, as we have to pay a 20%+ deposit, a Thai paying 10%+ wouldn't need a guaranteur?

The requirement according to Tanachart is down to the problems that may arrise if you go home to your own country, they'd need someone to help sort it all out, get the card sold, contracts sorted etc. This may be why guy's who are married to a Thai find it easier to sort guaranteur-wise than guys who aren't..

Tanachart wouldn't do it for me recently even with a 50% deposit, apparently they don't do it at the moment due to all the problems with bad debt around the world.. At least, this is what I was told.

As far as I can see, nobody has yet answered the poster's question. Therefore, let me try. You should take it as a compliment that your girl's family didn't wai to you since that means they already accept you as part of the family. Family members rarely wai to each other except to make a particular point, usually a thanks as opposed to a greeting.

Some Thai people don't wai farang because they do not want to inconvenience them with an unfamiliar greeting in much the same way as they don't want to serve them spicy food. However, a wai does make a big difference to a Thai person in the way they perceive foreigners, especially officials. I have never had trouble with amy officials in Thailand, quite the contrary in fact, and I attribute this to my waiing. Even officials at Suvarnabhumi airport who had obviously approached me for some reason tell me to carry on without asking whatever question they had intended to ask the very moment I wai. This seems to tell them more about a farang than a thousand words or answers to questions ever could.

Farang should know that it is ok for them to wai waitresses, petrol attendants etc on arrival as a greeting, but not on departing even though the waitress, petrol attendant etc should wai them. You only wai them on departing if they went well beyond the call of duty, such as a petrol attendant who decided to clean all the windows and not just the windscreen.

Politeness and respect are important in Thai society and the wai is a sign and a measure of this. You are being judged by these two factors. No wonder therefore that so many farang get ripped off.

And so the pseudo-thai's finally wake up... ......what a load of <deleted>, now I understand why the middle-aged, pot-bellied Farangs make such tw*ts of themselves in Thailand....they read cr*p like this before they arrive in Pattaya to find their new wives from Issan...
