Thais have nothing to do with it.
You are the strange one, it is posted in the Chiang Mai forum, that is enough.

I have lived in Thailand for over 20 years, and knows how hard it is to get what you pre-pay for in general.
I don’t have that problem and do not find it among folks I know.
Certainly one must be careful about prepaying and the terms of doing so.

The word 'tent' is used for second hand car dealers on the side of the road.
You're just throwing your money away buying a used car in Thailand if you have no mechanical knowledge.
No. It is possible to use somebody else’s knowledge.
You'll find the engine light coming on is the least concern.
How do you know that?
You should have had a mechanical inspection prior to purchasing. I'd say they would have found a few more issues.
maybe he did have it checked you don’t know he didn’t -
Which engine light?

If you wire USD to Thailand, it always goes via JPM in NY who takes $50 US to reroute funds to your Thai Bank
Not true.

If you wire Thai baht to Thailand from outside Thailand, the funds first go to the Bank of Thailand and then to Siam Commercial Bank. They deduct 1000 baht and then reroute the money to the final destination bank who helps themselves to a further 795 baht in Bangkok Bank's case. This is excluding the wire fee from the originating bank. If you wire USD to Thailand, it always goes via JPM in NY who takes $50 US to reroute funds to your Thai Bank, who again charge money to receive the funds plus make money converting the USD to THB. What a racket.
I wire monthly and pay no fees like those.

Therefore, depends upon where you die. If in hospital, can we assume the hospital mortuary would be 'fit for purpose' until your cadaver is transferred to the medical school? Or, will it go immediately to the university pending release document from your Embassy? The form is designed for Thai people. This could be the reason that retirees have (allegedly) previously been told that 'foreign donors are not acceptable'?
Keep working on it and you will be able to imagine even more complications.

What is of concern could be how long it takes for our own Embassy to authorise release of our bodies
No problem with appropriate storage

They will basically get it scrapped. They have a whole lot more at stake than the foreigners here.
