Any recommendations for helpful/decent shops?
From Mae Rim to towards Chiang Mai a bit past Macro on same side is a small but good bike shop, many bikes visible in front. It is just about across from the Tire Plus shop, big tire shop.

Nothing is free fella
Oh so wrong. Such a sad belief.

You don’t get it at all. The rate has nothing to do with Schwab, they send dollars. Rate is determined by recipient bank and is easily verified on their public posts.
Good luck with your delusional logic.

Good for you, very helpful for the OP.
Yeh it lets him know that there are better options. But Lou I get that might be hard for you to grasp.

I'm still waiting for him to explain how he's managed to find the holy grail of foreign exchange dispatch.....
Schwab International account, not hard to find. There are even several others similar if you care to look instead of making seemingly intelligent but truly uninformed comments.

Thank you Bill97
Do you get a better rate using an International Account or Regular Account
Rate is up to receiving Thai bank. With International account wire is free, very small charge from Bkk Bank to receive.
Never sent from regular acct.

Best but how you send the wire depends on what kind of Schwab account you have, international or regular. Send dollars not baht.

I criticize them from outside for all the things which they don't do or don't do good enough? Or do I become a member and be part of the problem?
Other better options.
Why do you only suggest two negative choices?

I plan to buy a used car for around 50 k usd. A new one will cost at least 100 k and that is amount I don’t wish to pay for a car. I would definitely go for a new one if I wanted to buy a less luxurious brand.
Such numbers!!!

I don't know about Schwab, but their debit card might also only be available to US residents.
No you can get one with their international account for sure.
Proof of address they accept US bank, credit card or financial institution statement showing Thai address. For international account application.
