I am Danish and my embassy also stopped issuing income letters when other embassies did. But the Danish embassy opened up again and now want that we get our pensions providers in Denmark to send the pensions income letters directly to the embassy, the letters shall be written in English. The embassy then sign and stamp the letters and send them by post to the pensioner, the embassy charge about thb 1000 pr letter and thb 40 for EMS post. We can also have the embassy to write an income letter if the pensions providers send the income letters in Danish, but that cost thb 5000.

Yellow House Book and Pink Card
perconrad replied to Hocus Pocus's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I got my first yellow book in Thalang, Phuket renting a house and I was not married. They wanted the names of my mother and father, passport copy and the owner and poyai baan accompanied me. Later I got the second yellow book in Sisaket with the moving paper from Thalang . When foreigners could get pink ID cards I got one by showing my Yellow book. -
I buy mulberries at the local markets. I find them fine and like them they are not expensive. The leaves from the mulberry bush is what the silk worms eat and some people also use the leaves for tea.

I only meant that we were not into shopping, so I don't have any knowledge of that.

In april we went to VIetnam, my wife, grandchild 7 and I, first trip to Vietnam, but not the last. Since we live in Sisaket province we took the bus from Ubon R to Pakse in Laos and stayed there for a couple of days. Then we took the bus from Pakse to Hue and stayed in Hue 3 days. The bus ride was challenging on the Lao side but we survived. Hue was OK with sightseeing and restaurants, we are not into shopping, so can't tell about that. Then with the train from Hue to Da Nang because grandchild and wife had never tried the train, we had a sleeper cabin for ourselves and that was fine. In Da Nang we stayed for 10 days sightseeing, visiting friends and got visit from family from my homeland, but no shopping. Da Nang was fine for walking around, going to the beach and many restaurants. One day we vent to Hoi An and that was a disappointment filled up with tourist. Hotels in both Hue and Da Nang were cheaper than in Thailand for the same standard. We used Grab for going around in Hue and Da Nang and for the trip to Hoi An, I have never used Grab before and were surprised over how cheap it was. We left Vietnam for Bangkok and continued our holiday there.

If you are not young anymore I can't recommend Roojai. I had my insurance with Roojai for my Fortuner several years and when I was 74 and should renew I got renew announcement, since I had for automatic payment via my card i didn't think more about it. Just before renewal date I could see in my bank that I had not paid Roojai and I had a lot of problems with Roojai before it turned out that Roojai would not renew my insurance because I would become 75 in the policy period. What a very lousy service.

Tax ID Number
perconrad replied to Bluetongue's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Denmark has a double taxation agreement with Thailand and pensions will be taxed in the country where they are paid out. I guess the local tax office could see that since I had paid 38 % in tax in Denmark, I was over the Thai threshold for tax of my pension and they did not want me to fill out a tax form. -
Tax ID Number

Why don't you believe me? What is it you don't believe? I am Danish and English is not my first language, so perhaps I write something wrong in English? At the local tax office they showed me the yearly tax settlement for me they had received from the tax office in Denmark where I pay taxes of my Danish pensions. -
Tax ID Number
perconrad replied to Bluetongue's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
For me it became mandatory, since my Danish bank asked me to inform them of my Thai Tax ID if I wanted to have bank accounts with them and two of my pension providers in Denmark also wanted my Thai tax ID. I had the pink ID card before and the tax lady said my tax ID was the number on my pink card. Two years ago I was called to the local tax office since they had received documents from the Danish tax office with my income and they would talk with me about my tax to be paid in Thailand of my Danish pensions, but when they found out that I paid 38 % in tax then they let me go and thought it was sad that I should pay so much in tax. -

I am tired of that too, if it continues with this ANA flight and the other pop ups, I will stop using AN. No other sites I use have annoying pop ups like AN. -
Thanks for the information. About 2 years ago we were holidaying in Nakhon Phanom and tried to go to Bueng Kan, but the road was closed, so this time we will follow your advice and take the road from Nong Khai after we have been in Vientiane.

I have been in all provinces except Bueng Khan, Pattani and Narathiwat. Bueng Khan is on the holiday list next month together with a trip to Laos.

I am Danish too and receive pensions in Denmark which are taxed with 38 %. I have lived in Thailand more than 17 years. Last year I was invited to a meeting with the local tax office in Kantharalak, Sisaket, I should not bring anything and at the meeting the officers showed me that they had received my yearly tax return from the Danish tax bureau. Since I had paid so much in tax, the officers said I was free to go and I should not report or pay tax to Thailand, it looked that they were sorry for me that I had already paid so much in tax. They showed me that I had a tax ID and that was my ID number on my pink ID card

Last year I went for a 10.000 km service at Toyota with my Fortuner (new model). My filter looked like the one the OP list, but worse the critters had bite, <deleted> and peed a lot inside the AC unit, so I had to change it at 17.000 THB. To prevent the rats access to the AC unit I had the shop install a guard plate with many small holes over the big hole where the air intake to the unit is. The hole is under the wipers in the upper of the engine compartment (just under the hood). The plate was bought from Lazada since Toyota do not sell that. The mechanic said they had often Fortuners with this problem.

Last year, I phoned Thai Airways and it took more than one hour on the phone and then I had a replacement ticket for my cancelled one for BKK CPH and return. I did not pay anything for the new ticket even the price at that time was higher than what I paid first.

Mitsubishi Power Starts Up Operations at Rayong Plant
perconrad replied to snoop1130's topic in Eastern Thailand News
What would you suggest? Nuclear power stations? There is not much wind in Thailand and the sun don't shine all the time. Natural gas in combined cycle (GTCC) thermal power generation plants is an excellent choice since it don't pollute like wood, coal and heavy fuel oil. -
How high is your blood pressure that you take medication
perconrad replied to steveb5's topic in Health and Medicine
In this thread and in the links I have read that low blood pressure can be dangerous to the kidneys, should I be concerned? I am 75 years old 178 cm and 75 kg. I walk/run with sprints with my dogs almost every day for at least an hour. I eat healthy, do not smoke and drink alcohol moderately. My blood pressure first thing in the morning varies between 110-115/55-60 and the pulse 55-60 At the yearly health check my blood pressure is higher, but the doctors only concerns are that my bad cholesterol is a little high, but I will not take statins, the other values are in the normal ranges. I do not take any medications. Sorry for my post is some off the thread. -
AXA about thb 4.000 more. No I did not get my 50 % discount from Roojai with me to AXA.
-
OK then. I asked Roojai if they could issue me another insurance, but they declined and did not offer me a compulsory insurance. But now I have the insurance with AXA and they laughed when I told them that Roojai would not insure my car because I was more than 75.
