I had a look on Google at this model and it says it comes standard as a 2 wheel drive so is the second option to have 4 wheel drive?  If yes did you choose the 4 wheel drive front axle?

Also does it come with a "blade" on the front as it seems most Thai tractors have?  I find the blade a nuisance most of the time and prefer to take it off when working in the paddies. In my opinion it makes the whole tractor lighter and allows you to drive closer to the paddy bank even over it if the bank is not too high.  The drawback is if you managed to get bogged and don't have the blade on you can't use it to lift the front up to put logs under the front wheels.  I have tried to think of a way to make and attachment that uses the blades ram to lift the front but so far unsuccessful.

If you end up like me you will be very happy with your new "toy". I have a TT4.55

    Hello

Plaw Tang: off set wheel and smaller wheels - modified for rice paddies

Plaw Tong: bigger wheels and tires

yes both are 4WD, it comes with a blade, but we can use the blade as part of the down payment if we do not need it, it also comes with an extra implement. I do not see needing a blade at this moment,  not sure how often people use it other than for leveling, or pushing dirt aside, the extra front weight can always be compensated with placing front weight.

Yes the TT4.55 I will not mind having, but can not justify the price difference for a pet project. Glad your happy with yours, and hopefully will have the same experience.

  2. Today I had an interesting call back from one of the brands head office.

Which kind of sealed the deal at a New Holland TT3.50

It was an interesting  discussion  and un expected from a dealership here to say the  pros and cons.

But below is summery if anyone interested  of why I decided to to go with a new holland, based on various reads, discussions and comments, comments welcome.

Japanese tractors here are mostly designed for rice paddies, JD and New Holland will or might not be able to compete with them on rice paddies.

New holland designed more for cash crops, and hence the modified design on the TT3.5 where you have two options on front axle, to make it more wet field friendly

New holland and JD both manufactured  in pune India, so relative costs and maintenance  should not be that far apart.

JD has more of a reputation  so might end up buying a name more than a machine

I like the high torque on low RPM and big tank on the New Holland, as well as more competitive financing.

And finally I think what sealed the deal is the blue color 55555.( I do not believe there is a correct choice)  Let's just hope blue is a lucky color.

As for engine size I agree with Kickstart on getting a smaller one and heavy lifting done by others, but I was getting many shrugs on why I want to plough or turn the soil downwards, same direction.and will be wasting time and gas and and and. So was another sign to get a mid size 50 HP price between 54 and 49 is not much and does not justify  the higher cost,.and should do the same work.

Thank you all for the inputs

  3. I print around 10-30k boxes every few months and the prices are very reasonable, but it all depends on what type of paper you want, quantity, as well as what printing.

As well as usage, and how much weight you want to put in or stack

Also the prices between 3k 5k and 10k are different, for you it might not be significant  based on your operation

Only the smaller JD's ,and then not all the models up to 40 hp ,our local JD dealer has 50hp+ ,these are all JD's  own tractors .

    Good Morning

So you would say 50-55 range which one would be a better choice? And why will that be in your opinion or why not?

Or your first choice is neither ? ????

  5. Yes seems a lot of DIY modifications to be done here.

    prepared fields,

is the main reason that is driving me to buy my own tractor, initially wanted to invest in some implements only,  and outsource the tractor, since it is a small plot we are experimenting on, but after discussion with the operators, I came to the conclusion it  will be less of a headache and possibly medical bills to just buy one, and do what is in my head. also if not made the way we want it to, might not be able to really judge if it was successful or not.

  6. yes just today i asked i was told there is a company called ASB that does john deere cabs for 160K

and more on tractors, today i had an interesting discussion, as below

    • Kubota is very popular machine, average not spectacular
    • New Holland Good, but high maintenance cost and spare parts if needed
    • Yanmar/John Deere best engines (They share same engines) Yanmar everything else average,
    • Seems John Deere got the best of that discussion, as spare parts are available cheaply from indian factory.

not sure what are your thoughts about the above.

  7. Good Morning All,

Does the rise planter reaches depth?

For no tillage i was also considering but, you will need proper equipment for planting, and i think once that is figured out it is best way to go especially April may when it is very hot. Also what cover crop are you thinking of? (To create the rolled cover)

Siam implememts has some nice machinery with some duck foot tines, that is also adjustable  i think I will give it a go.

    Douglasspade,

    Thank you for the pictures.

Once it reaches silking stage can you please send some photos as well.

For yanmars please see below links and pictures they have two sizes

    https://www.yanmar.com/th/agri/products/implements/y4700msc/

  8. Haha yes tractorboys made me wish actually  put more effort in learning Thai.

I like the high torque on lower rpm on the New holland.

For yanmar what got me interested is their corn planter, but I guess  you can buy it to use with any other, except John deere as I was told that their implements are not interchangeable

  9. Hello yes I went through that thread, maybe will go through it again,

I agree  it seems not much is being sold I think it is also due to the prospective of the yanmar, and loyalty the brand Kubota

that is why i was interest in particular about the new yanmar, especially  when the engines are same as John deerr but tweaked a bit different. (Might be wrong)

Looking for  30 to 40 I think a 50HP will be a bit more than needed but nice to have the buffer.

So your not considering Yanmar or Kubota for your purchase. Is that personal preference, or is there a specific reason? (I also looked at the TT3)

  10. A few years ago attending an exhibition, an exhibitor was handed a black marker and asked to cover the hair of the young girl in the poster. So they made him put a Hijab for her.

A second was advertizing the healing powers of the hot spring, and the guy smiled and wrote Inshallah on the poster.

Historical sites where closed... Long story short this openness is coming fast but most of the people giving negetaive comments will not even realize a Saudi sitting next to them, and where against generalization probably on the Israeli post.

And for all other comments about the messed up version of Islam they follow thank the western governments for supporting a fanatic selfish tribal leader instead of a patriotic leader who would have affected their corporate pockets.

  11. Some very good points JT. Turkey has spent years being rebuffed by the EU, with constant postponements to membership. They have made legal changes to comply with the EU and still the goal post keeps moving.

The Arab world is now like a fatherless child and Turkey is a strong, reasonably stable country who can step into the parenting role. They do need an enemy, however, to solidify support. Israel is a convenient and reasonably easy target.

My fear has been that Iran is going to exercise power in the region. Both Turkey and Iran are ethnically different, so cementing an enduring bond may be difficult. It is up to other countries to make sure we don't drive them into the a strong adversarial situation.

    Dear Scott

I agree with your comments, that the Arab World or uprising as they call it in BBC needs a father figure and that might be Turkey, Maybe after so many rejection to turkey to be part of the EU, especially after less economically qualified countries have joined send the wrong idea, some people in Arab Lands say that the rejection is because they are a Muslim dominated Country,

Should they have been accept to the EU will the situation now be different? is this a product of the EU? i do not know these are just questions that i ask myself, maybe since Turkey was rejected by the by they need allies, and that will be the Arab world?

as for the ethnicity comment? between Iran and Turkey, they might be a bit closer Ethenicly to each other than Arabs are to turkeys, but of different sects, Iranians are Shiites, and Turkish are Sunni, with the Arab Countries except for Bahrain Mainly Sunni Dominant, I personally do not see any possibility of the Ottomans and the Persians joining hands.

  12. @Zeid, You call yourself moderate and your rejection of violence supports that. I'm curious whether you would support the existence of a Jewish state called Israel alongside a Muslim state called Palestine? If this was to happen how many Muslim Countries do you think would then recognize Israel through formal diplomatic relations?

Latest: Looks like Turkey have been told to wind their necks in.

    http://www.debka.com/article/21297/

The Obama administration has turned down a Turkish request for drones or for the deployment of US Predators at Turkish bases until Ankara stops threatening Israel with armed attack, debkafile's military and Washington sources report.

    Dear Dan

Muslims and jews have always lived side by side through out history, dating from the time of Prophet Mohammad, i do have various friends in Israel, and we share many common thoughts as well as tastes and customs, I do support one hundred percent a two state solution, But reject calling Palestine a Muslim state, as Palestine, belongs to Christians as well as Muslims, and Jewish. let us not Forget where beit lahem is, and where jesus Chrise was born. as well the prophet Moses, he stood in Mount nebo in Jordan over looking the dead sea,

I think Arabs, have also shown their acceptance for the Israel stats, but the west did not show acceptance for a Palestinian state. as for Jerusalem, it contains dome of the Rock a very important landmark in the Muslim religion, we will never accept that it is taken away from us.

my personal opinion is that Jerusalem should become a religious country(similar to the Vatican) for all the major 3 religion, with an administrative committee overlooking it, made up of elected people from all 3 religions, as well as the Palestinian state and Israel state, with each of these two states selecting alternative capitals.

as for how many countries will accept, i think once recognition of Palestine happens, and the agreed borders, with sovereignty *(might be wrong spelling) and being treated like any other country, all Arabs will support, if not i will be very disappointed . but that will not count much i am afraid

  13. Nawak< these people do not represent Islam, alone, and if you want you can PM Me, what happened to the massacre that killed all those Muslims during the Islamic festival shall we refer to all those NOn Muslims the same way i do not think so, you have the right to make your opinion and judge after you understand something not just cast away words.

Radical or fanatic actions in any field or extremist is all wrong, what every happened to the Norwegian that killed all those innocent people, that is wrong as well and not accepted by any society, but this does not mean i will go ahead and start saying this is the Christian Agenda,

I am not familiar with the third jihad, but jihad can be achieved by seeking better education and life, if a person dies while he is seeking education he is considered as a mortar, and killing oneself or suicide is not allowed by islam, so those stupid suicide Bombers have just wasted their lives.

what is shira law? is it on limited to what has been mentioned, it brought equality, as well as economical values to a society, so sharia is a full set of laws, that can be beneficial to people, such as social welfare, sorry but there is also no place in shariaw law that supports spending on attacking western countries, same as any other empire the Muslim empire was expanding, same did the romans, the magols, and all, so this is just a bad interpretation of a shiria law.

Once again I am a Muslim, educated in the US, Lived in Germany, and traveled around, by no means will i consider myself even a moderate muslim, since i miss all prayers, i enjoy beacon in the morning and the company of women, but when ever i start hearing comments such the below about islamist agendas, as well as some remarks based on Total BS, my devotion increases,

i agree with Ulysses that many use this curtain of islam to do what ever sick ideology they have damaging or destroying the reputation of islam, and in our school we where tought the bible, Christianity, and the Tarawa and Jewish releigion, i suggest many of you who do comment based on no facts that you read and study.

finally i do not think any of you will accept a person to come in inside your home, take 2 out of the 3 bedrooms you owe, and then call you a thief.

  14. the only embarrassing thing about all this is Arabs are sleeping, and doing nothing while the Turks are.

also the comments posted by some that are claiming Gazza people are free and not suffering from anything is just prejudice

why was Berlin wall illegal? why is the wall in Palestine legal?

Supposedly Sadam was did not offer his people the freedom, nor the human rights, but Israel is allowing this, to the Palestinian people?

no the arab leaders are not up to the standard,

yes maybe per capita is getting the most aid per capita per country what is the final dollar value? is it enough to go to rebuild all the constant bombing? hospitals schools? food?

Maybe Mr. Erdogan understand that the only way is to deliver himself, so that the actual aid also arrives to Gaza, so it is not being taken else where,

and didn't Israel already reject the inspection of the UN outside its ports

Denis Halliday had already also inspected the ship

Israel, rejected the UN to probe and investigate the incident

how is concrete a dangerous item?

maybe next item they will ban are bras and panties so that there is no access to rubber bands hence reducing the production of slingshots.

i think comments such the below show Hippocratic characteristics, where you allow one country to do something and others not

what is an islamist agenda? to give people the freedom they want?
