Does anyone know if the bakery next to the motorbike shop just off Chiang Mai gate has closed or moved? Been past a few times lately and looks closed but has no sign.

Thats too bad, I've gone the last 3 years and it was always a great time. I guess Dave got sick of listening to all of the bitchin and moaning.

consuming your own food on AA, is against their rules...just sayin'.
My all time favorite....Genova Deli, Oakland....genovadeli.jpg
The thing is, that the high quality deli stuff they use, would be well over 1000 thb per Kg here, so it just ain't gonna happen.
I used to work right next store to this deli at a stained glass shop in the 70's. great aroma when you walk in

A few months ago they raised the price of sitting in the sala from 10bht to 20bht. Now 20bht isn't a lot of money but a 100% increase is a rather large jump.

Promenada

I did my 90 day last week and was not asked for residence. I also go with my Thai partner and she does all the talking and I just sign when necessary. Looking forward to reports on Promenada.

The last time I saw this cartoon was back in the 60's. The Grateful Dead was using it as part of their light show playing behind the band. Of course "Sunshine" had a different connotation back then.
Seeing the toppling itself is nicer still.
A nice OP followed by four negative ones. One can only hope that you topple as a form of poetic justice.
While I don't hope that anyone has an accident, I think you'll see that this sort of 1 positive post followed by several negatives are the norm in ThaiVisa. Some people just don't like others to be happy.
When ever this happens (which is rather often,) it reminds me of the classic Van Beuren cartoon of the mid '30's called "The Sunshine Makers."
It's well worth the few minutes to watch it. You'll see what I mean.

There is a reason why Thai people living abroad don't live in Thailand anymore. I don't think they will have a hard time explaining Thai politics to their friends. Perhaps the good General shouldn't be asking them for their help.

I have been flying drones for a couple of years now and it cracks me up when someone complains about the possibility of having their privacy violated. They should be more worried about someone with a DSLR and a 500mm lens. The cameras on drones are good for landscape photography , they have no zoom capabilities and they cannot sneak up on you, they have flashing lights and you can hear them coming from a mile away. Get over it .

Dave, your party is great just the way it is. I have been there the last 2 years and looking forward to this year. 500 people plus sounds like a nightmare,

Just the kind of defense of totalitarian rule that you would expect from that yellow rag, The Nation.
Marshall's book, however, overemphasizes the importance of the succession in the ongoing Thai political crisis. Other commentators like Patrick Jory or Pavin Chachavalpongpun make the point that it is the preservation of the political and economic dominance of the elites as against the majority of Thais that is the core issue.
This piece, for instance:

Good read, I am surprised it's not banned

If this happened to a tourist I wonder if the Temple would be picking up the hospital bill?

Thanks everyone, now I have a few new places to try
-
I like SP but their birds seem to be much smaller than 5 star and higher in price. It seems many 5 star places are deep-frying now which is something I try to avoid, although I like their rotisserie. Ulysses maybe the one you are thinking about near Gekkos is a deep fry place that opens at about 10:00 pm till 3:00 or so.

O.K. so I familiar with the SP 5 Star places around town and the semi famous one over by Wat Pharsing. I am looking for non chain store chicken in the old city. I know on the road to Doi Saket they have some on the roadside but I am looking for Old City or fairly close. MY Thai partners says there is no word for
Rotisserie in Thai. They only have Gai Yan. She is usually right about stuff like this but I am always skeptical. I had a favorite place that rubbed it down with lemon grass and herbs but alas He stopped and now just sells grilled fish. Any suggestions, except cook my own, would be appreciated. Thanks

Yeah he is the guy on the right, I haven't seen him around in a while so I am guessing he is gone. The other fellow I believe went to Cambodia and opened a guest house.
