  1. Again great (and very stable) footage petdcat!

You must be a real thrillseeker with your quad. No fear for some water coming from the crowds and no fear for some technical failure above the crowds.

    Keep the vids coming!

Thanks RC the crowds were very polite where I was lifting off from. They were more concerned to hold it and have an iPhone picture taken then they were with throwing water.

  2. So, tell us about your video camera, your quadcopter, etc.

    interesting stuff.

    phantom 1 or vision?

youre braver than i. thought about heading out, but too afraid some drunk people would bring it down.

What is the effective range for this device, before the signal fades?

What a fantastic machine, and you are a total pro with it, Sir. Great work once again.

  3. Several hotels sell fitness club memberships for locals and I'm guessing those may include pool privileges. The Kantary Hills has one of the best pools and hotel fitness rooms in the area (the pool is large and gets sunshine so the water is not so cold as others), though don't know the cost.

You can get a 6 month membership at the Centara Duangtawan fitness center for 8500 thb and I think (not 100% sure) it includes pool privileges. One year membership is 12,000 thb.

The pool is included in the price at Centara Duangtawan.

  4. After a bit of reseacrch I found a little more information that I have copied and will paste here.

The answer depends on if you are on a stock setup or have an upgraded TX. Stock should get you 500 metres away. I have seen people getting 700 meters.... now that will technically work in an upward direction too but for all our sake please PLEASE don't try this out.
400 feet is a pretty standard legal limit across most countries. Outside this and you are interfering with commercial air traffic and no one wants a Phantom going through the prop, screen or engine of an aircraft carrying real people just to see how high it will go if pushed.

If you upgrade your TX to say a Futaba T8J (or any 'full range' set) you can get maybe 2km max.... slap an EzUHF system in there and you can get like 10miles+ with the correct antenna setup. You will never ever achieve this in a Phantom of course cause of battery life (and it'd just be silly to try!).

Some idiot on youtube got nearly 1km up in a Phantom and due to the power it used, it ran out of juice on the way down at about 100feet up.

  5. Very nice - some quite high altitude shots. How high do these things operate ?

The transmitter can control it up to about 1000 feet. It can go higher then that but not with the transmitter I have. It is possible to extend the range with a more powerful transmitter.

  6. Nice job! Did you have a downlink for FPV? What equipment are you using? With those four props spinning it sure makes a stable video recording platform

I just added FPV and this was my first time using it. I am using the same DJI Phantom that is posted a few responses down on this page.

  7. Congratulations, looks good!

Your DJI(?) must have floaters, you are a real speedswimmer or live without fear biggrin.png.

    Good job!

    RC Pilot

Thank You, My first DJI Phantom flew away from me. I was flying close to a golf course near my home when I lost control and I think it either went down in a lake or landed on top of a bunch of trees at the golf course. I looked for a few days but never found it. Now I am a much more focused flyer. Although flying over water is extremely stressful,it is possible. I still owe you some beers next time you are in town.

    Cheers

  8. Ty senoremac - is that Gekko's on the corner of Sri Donchai Rd and Kamphang Rd - nearly opposite the Imperial Maeping Hotel.

Or is it something near Gecko bookshop?

It is opposite the Imperial Maeping Hotel.

  9. Thanks Jaidee, it was paste, homemade looking.

Kcore, you can get chickpeas at Rim ping supermarket, you can also probably get them at Makro on the superhiway, theyre near the fresh veg with the dried spices etc.

Just checked macro s.h. Spice section . Nothing there?? I am hoping to buy bulk and not s& p canned. Do they have a " Thai" name for dry garbanzo beans.?

I've bought them before at Macro and Rimping. I was at Macro yesterday and it looked like they might not have had any in stock.

  10. Super Rich accepted my Thai drivers license

Recently? SK used to accept a photocopy of the passport but about a year ago they began to demand the original. The girl told me that there was a crackdown all over Thailand because of anti-money laundering legislation. A few months ago the g/f tried to exchange some currency when we were in Bangkok. She only had her driver's license on her and the bank or wherever she went denied her. They said they required her Thai ID card or her passport.

Yes about 4 months ago on Loy K road. I normally take my passport but 1 time I tried using the dl and they accepted. I would bring both just to be sure.
