OR he could just leave him at Burger King for the 300.
The TOURIST then told him to <deleted> off he wouldn't pay it at which point it kicked off
So you can all put your anti thai <deleted> back in the box - I would have done the same if someone tried to take the piss out of me !
And being such a brave man, you would have got all your mates to help you.

No small wonder Abhisit left. This is a very divided party.
But maybe they will unite when the trough is laid before them.

He's not just stepping on toes of the legal and above board expats but eradicating them also! I for one who has had both marriage ext and retirement ext since 2004 and a number of businesses, employed Thai's and always paid my taxes. I also have a Thai wife and children aged 11 & 13. But the changes made by thai immigration have posed a massive problem for me being able to renew my ext in Sept 19.
I have always been able to meet the requirements of a minimum net pension income of 65000 and used the LOI from the embassy to provide evidence of this. With backup documentation of letter from pension company, P60's, bank statements etc so my ext's have always been smooth. However, that will now end because I have to meet the new rule of transferring a minimum of 65000 baht to my Thai bank account every month which is not possible for me to be able to fulfil this requirement yet I do have a higher than 65000 net pension. Note that I also have property assets in Thai. But because I have other commitments in UK & Spain I have to meet each month it is now not possible for me to transfer 65000 baht every month as required. So I am one of those to be eradicated! Nice policy and nice way to treat those who have contributed to the Thai economy over the last 14 years. Yet now it appears I will not be able to renew my ext in Sept because I have not be able to transfer 65000 a month to my Thai bank. Some years ago I had millions of baht in my Thai bank accounts but now unfortunately not.
So I am now basically f.cked! And as I believe are so many other legitimate expats who qualify in terms of income but cant get the amounts required to their Thai bank accounts without failing to meet their home/other country commitments. I could manage 45000 to a Thai bank account each month at a push. Also, failure to take into account real estate assets is another flaw because this would provide evidence that the applicant has means!
My two pennies.
tracy3eyes, have you thought about the combo method? If you can transfer, say 40,000 per month, you'd only need 320,000 in the bank. If you and the wife own property and you don't have 320,000, maybe you could borrow it from the bank here.
1. Don't get discouraged by what you read. Too many posters on TV leave readers with a sense of doom and gloom.
2. Look for solutions not at problems.
Don't give up. All the best.

Spoke to an Aetna rep. just a few days ago. They are supporting the mandatory insurance plan.
She had several stories all about Falang skipping out on bills.
Mostly at Bkk Pattaya hospital.
She told me about an Aussie who skipped just last week on a 5 million b bill.
I doubt if many of those Cambo and Burma folks are hitting the major hospitals with fear they will get caught as illegals.
Of course, she had these stories. How else can they push for mandatory insurance?

Are you trying to say that in your opinion it is OK for expats to not pay their medical bills?
I don't believe its the expat not paying; it's the tourist. Sometimes this Nation news does not distinguish properly between tourist and expats.
I had my only Thai operation here at the public hospital. When I wanted to go home, they wheelchaired me to the cashier / pharmacy, I paid; then they wheelchaired me to the tuk-tuk and I went home. There was no thought in my mind of not paying. And most expats would be the same.

The older people generally become, the less likely they are to be engaged in criminal behavior . Married people commit fewer crimes than unmarried people. Don't they teach this in Thailand's police academies?
You're right. People like the late Tony Kenway could easily slap 10 million in a Thai bank, if that's what Big Joke wants. Will that make them great law abiding citizens? No! Will they get a visa? Yes! It's all about money. It always has been. It's just a matter of how much.

If it happens, Uncle will find a way to dissolve FFP, possible mass protest would lead to martial law..... also be aware that the junta selected senate sits for 5 years, elections every 4 years, so next election (if there is one) will also be doped.
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa ConnectThere is no doubt that there is already a game plan in the pipeline. The PPRP can sit back, relax and allow that fix to be done for them.

Phalang Pracharat could respond that the remarkable support it got as a new party in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand, thrashing the Democrat Party in the process, must count for something.
And to put things in perspective: You got 7.9 million votes. That means that 27.1 million voters did not vote for you. That must count for something.

They have both made it clear they could not support Prayuth as the PM. They also have some other similar policies. And just because some believe that PT is the most corrupt party ever (the junta actually leaves PT in the dust on the corruption scale), does not make those other parties joining in the coalition (if it succeeds) corrupt too. In fact, they would probably be in a position to increase oversight over what is happening in the government.
Also, of the people who voted FFP who I have spoken too, not one of them believes it wrong to join up with PT to form the government. It seems it is mainly the holier than thou foreign crowd who have problems with it.
Exactly right. Look how many forces "joined together" to fight ISIS. You mightn't like each other; you probably have different ideals but the abomination of the enemy demands a unity for victory.

Obviously not as much as before given the results of the election. The junta party got more votes then the PTP. I would say that is pretty good proof he is not hated as much as you say. (i still hate him and Thaksin too)
I seriously expected a huge humiliation of the junta party, now the ones who were humiliated were the Democrats and the PTP with their huge losses of voters.
Yes I like the PTP losing votes (Thaksin is on his way out) , but at the same time I hate the junta getting this many votes. But I am happy that future forward is getting quite a bit of votes. They were the one I would support (still have to prove themselves).
Thailand reminds me of the young lady in their TV soapies who is raped by the man but eventually she marries the rapist. "Oh, he loved me so much that he wanted to have sex with me, so he raped me. He must love me to rape me therefore I will stay with him."
It's the mindest.

Now that they have been democratically elected, and now that this is a new era, are they exempt from the immunity that they gave themselves in respect to any future actions.

35% of the people did not, for whatever reason, take advantage of one of our great rights: suffrage. People really do need to be educated on the importance of this right.
The other 65% have spoken and we'll know in May how it all pans out.
I doubt the next four years will be as stable as some hope, but sometimes I am wrong.
