  1. No worries, cobber. I had a quick look on their website and couldn't see. I'll drop them an email. DMK is handier for a trip to KL. Last time I went to Singapore, the flight from Swampy to Changi was shorter than the trip from Ayutthaya to Swampy.

You're correct, i don't believe it's advertised, i knew that BFS operated a lot of the check inns.

The 1st BFS girl that met me was unaware of this, she checked with the staff and was able to skip the queue. The 2nd girl that me me was aware, i was waiting in line when she rocked up and she pulled me aside when Biz class check in was empty.

I've been using BFS for a few years now and i have to say the service is very good, they're always on time, always call to confirm etc.

Also, most of the staff are easy on the eyes!

Is it only at Swampy? or DMK, as well?

I am with this sentiment 100%. In fact I'd go further:

Jail time per length of overstay:

    - 1 month for each year

    - 1 week for each month

    - 1 day for each week

Therefore Eugen would be looking at 20 months in the crowbar hotel courtesy of the Thai government.

That crap has got to stop because it has already affected me and many others like me. My "jump through all the proper hoops and legalities obtained" business visa in Laos used to allow me unlimited access into the LOS. My wife and I used to go at least monthly, do some shopping and visit her family.

Thai immigration changed the laws a couple of years ago limiting me to 2 land crossings a year unless I buy a 6 month multi-entry visa from the Thai Embassy in Vientiane for 5000 baht. I have bought said visa but the only reason I had to do so was because of scofflaws like Eugen et al.  Their illegal, greedy, selfish, careless and thoughtless actions cost me money.

No sympathy here in the slightest. Barring the extraordinary, there is no plausible reason whatsoever to have an overstay. Throw them away and then deport them for life.

    Really? Are you sure??

Hi - I’m currently within the 90 day seasoning period for renewing my retirement extension in October based on 800k baht. Should I be worried? Should I take plunge and apply for Elite Visa? Will Elite Visa provide 5 years from end of current permission to stay?

I'm going to assume that you have asked a serious question.

Answer: Don't change a thing. Continue on the way you are going now. This is all just a "somebody told me" rumour.

Have a wonderful brunch and enjoy your day.

“My dad, who was also a teacher, bought this house. At the time of his passing, he had still not repaid the debt. So, I had to take over the house debt,” Pimchanok said.

A term life insurance policy to cover such a predicament should be compulsory with all home loans.

However, it seems like this lady was also a compulsive borrower before her father died.

Baker's Delight certainly sounds good mate! I am looking forward to all the creature comforts of life in Australia. But I know the novelty will wear off fast. But I'm in my early 40s now. Not the young man I was when I first left and arrived here without a care in the world other than doing what I wanted. The best time for me here was between 2005 & 2008 I think. I had a great bunch of mates & had loads of great times especially with gfs here. While the political dramas were certainly well into play back then, it was still fun and Thais in general were good value and always up for a good laugh. But I seldom have those moments here these days. Life here seems to be consumed by how much the military grip has tightened & and not to mention the hypocrisy of this place which has reached a point where I can no longer follow the news here anymore. But I'm leaving on my own terms & I intend to get a T-shirt printed that reads "I lived in Thailand for 13 years & survived" ?

All the best, cobber. Have a Chiko Roll for me and may your future be "as bright as bright can be."

This has been a very enjoyable and enlightening thread. I thank those who have left or pondering the move for their honesty.

Just for information about passport photos. I was at the embassy yesterday and had all the paperwork to renew my passport. I got photos taken at 2 different shops just to be on he safe side, one place near the embassy and the other near Nana. Girl at embassy said one was a little dark and the other maybe a little too light. I asked if they recommended any photo shops. They gave me a map to one they recommend which is near the old embassy apparently. They told me to specifically say it was for Oz passport. I did state that with the other 2 shops I went to ththe day before but maybe they’re not into speed on the Oz requirements. Motorbike taxi outside the embassy to the shop and he waited for me, 100baht for taxi.  Back to embassy and handed in new photos. I could see a slight difference in contrast but not much. Anyway they accepted the photos and I will pick up passport in 3 weeks.

This is the place they recommend so just maybe it will save someone else any hassle. The girl and the rest of the staff in the embassy where very friendly and helpful.

When I got my new passport 2 years ago at the old embassy, every Aussie applying on the same day had to get new photos done at the same shop.

right. Common sense let's you know what it means.  And Vern has yet to apologize.  Shows what he is made of. He clearly meant to insult Musk in front of the world. No class.

Yes.And not only Musk but also his workers who laboured to design and build the submarine.

If he had just ignored Vern's comments, Musk would have been the "bigger"man. But he didn't.

And now they are both seen as petulant school children sniping at one another while the "real" men and women in this situation have gone back to their everyday lives.

If people who make assumptions are an ass, please elucidate on why you decided to assume Vern meant 'stick it up your arse' when he actually said something like, 'stick it where it hurts.'  I did not hear any reference to things beings stuck up <deleted>.

Isn't imagining that gays would find it pleasant a thought simply another assumption?

I'm in the same age bracket as Vern and "stick it where it hurts" has always meant "stick it up your arse."  And the look on Vern's face before and when he said it, clearly implies it.

Musk has so completely lost the moral high ground that it's highly unlikely he will ever regain the trust of anyone ever again. Instead of standing tall in the face of Vern's (childish) remarks, he chose petulance and called Vern a pedo -- wow! That's the very worst thing you    can do to a man. This kind of mud sticks and it gets out of control very quickly.

Internationally, this will pass. Millions will wake up tomorrow morning, have a nice breakfast and not even think about it. Sure, the media will do a bit more on it.  Here in Thailand amongst the expats and probably on TVF, it will get milked to death BUT, in the long run, it won't hurt Musk.
