  1. It sounds to me that my point was not clear. I realize that I am not eligible for a third shot until three months have passed since my 2nd A-Z. That qualifying date is 16 days from now. The post from City Hall seems to say quite clearly that we are invited to pre-register. That is not true in any sense. It's a drop-in daily event and if it so happens that the daily limit of the vaccine they specify has run out for the day then they will schedule a day for you to return. They refused to register me until the three months are done and even then they probably won't make appointment, they'll just jab me.
  2. Regarding Royal Garden Plaza: This is a good translation from the City Hall Facebook page. Announcement !! Muang Pattaya Hospital opens Covid-19 vaccination center in Muang Pattaya at Royal Garden Plaza, Pattaya. Open Monday to Friday (except public holidays and public holidays) From 29 December 2564 to 31 March 2565 Time 11:00 to 15:00 p.m. Queue tickets start at 10:00 am etc. ****************************** For those who want to register needle 3 Pre-registration is available at Royal Garden Plaza, Pattaya From the time of 11:00 to 15:00 p.m. The ( After the registration is completed, the officer will make an appointment for the injection date again ) So, since my three months comes up on Sunday, January 15th, I went this morning to get an appointment for mid-January. It was pretty calm there and I only stood in line for an hour. Finally I reached the desk and was told I could not register until the three months was up. So I should come back on the 16th and I would get the jab if the day's quota wasn't yet met, otherwise I would AT THAT TIME be given an appointment. If you speak Thai and think I misunderstood, here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/pattayacontactcenter/ and here's the pertinent text:
  3. I wonder if this news was reported and/or translated correctly. To me it reads that for those who have taken A-Z for jabs #1 and #2, Public Health will supply a third jab of A-Z followed by a booster of Pfizer. If that is the intention then I will grumble but I accept it. But, if it actually means no Pfizer (or Moderna) jab at all, then it does not seem to be right-minded at all.
  4. Big pharma!! They're so scary evil! Around 1999 or 2000 I held a batch of Pfizer shares for a while. I paid about US$28 and sold them for US$31. PFE is now worth US$59, less than double in 21 years, so if I had held onto those shares I would have gotten about 4% per annum in growth, plus a fluctuating dividend. All taxable, of course, so barely ahead of inflation. If Pfizer is so crafty, if they are war profiteering as some have said, why can't they earn a proper long-term return?
  5. If you call the GSB contact center they will tell you that you can open an account with just a long-stay "visa" and a residence cert from Immigration. So if you have the visa, go get the cert, go to GSB. When they say No, get the call center on the phone, tell them you're in the branch, and hand the phone to the bank clerk.
  6. Yeah, I get the same reply with old and new websites as well as the app: my last annual extension didn't get entered properly. My passport has the right stamps, I have the cash receipt for 1,900 baht, the terminals in the Jomtien office show the right info, they were happy to accept my 90 day filing that I made in person this past Monday. But all three public forms of access to the 90 day data say I didn't extend in July. Ubonjoe says that should clear up next July. Meanwhile, I'm trying not to be annoyed.
  7. Thx for the reply. I could not check that because I am one of the unfortunates who cannot use the system; I appear in that segment of the database as being on Overstay.
  8. Just in case that form you printed doesn't have an arrival card number nor a "next report due" date, then it's just an acknowledgement of your registration.
  9. I applied last Sunday on the new site, just received a Rejected at 6:14pm 12/12. Glad that someone is working on the Sunday evening of a 3-day weekend but a bit sad to get the wrong answer. It mentioned "overstay" which we know actually means "failed to report" even though I did and got the receipt stapled in my passport. My last two filings were in person at Jomtien because the previous online system went kaput.
  10. What I was hoping for something like a 3" x 5" certificate on nice card stock, sharply printed and with a nice red stamp or two. Yeah, I'm old, and a dreamer. All we can get is an emailed PDF to print out ourselves, and now we know that if you wait 24 hours the QR code will be valid. Or, if it's convenient for you, there are places in Bangkok where they will print it for you, by appointment . Might even stamp it. It's all fine. At some point these documents --paper or digital-- will have no use anyway.
  11. Just this morning I noticed this line in the original announcement: "The QR code for the e-Vaccine Passport will be available within three working days after the request has been approved and can be scanned on the next day.". When I received the PDF in email I forgot about the need to wait; tried the QR code right away and it failed. I've now tried it again and it works fine.
  12. If all the QR codes sent to PDF conversion get spoiled then I guess the script kiddies will soon be informed. Sometime next week, I'd say. I only applied because I thought I might get a nice piece of yellow card with a stamp or two on it. Since it's just a PDF I think I'll move on.
  13. The email I sent back to them was rejected. Not a surprise that it's a no-reply account.
  14. I'm having the exact same issue with the PDF emailed to me today. The QR goes to the right website which is blank except to say the certificate is invalid. The QR code that appears in the Vaccine Certificate page of the Moh Pront app works fine. For lack of a better idea, I sent it back to Intervac with the comment that it fails.
  15. Everyone still Pending? Tomorrow is yet another holiday.
  16. I miss Thomas's English muffins but they are not crumpets. Two different things, and I prefer the taste and texture of English muffins.
  17. When they go off tariff, which involves them calling you for permission, they can give you better than the published rate and they can waive their fee if they choose. But your statement is correct and looking at my transfer last week, I see they left the 500 baht fee in place. I guess they felt that the 3,000 baht exchange rate bonus was sufficient.
  18. My US bank charges $40. Then I call them and whine a bit and they refund it. Every time. My Thai bank (Kasikorn) charges no fee to receive. In fact, for amounts greater than US$20,000, they go "off tariff") and add an additional 6 satang to the published TT rate of the moment. For me, at $50,000, that's an exchange rate bump that amounts to 3,000 baht. Using Wise for $20,000 or more is un-wise.
  19. "...Thailand specifically includes pension income as income subject to taxation... Yes they do, but with conditions. In my case: - My U. S. government pension (Social Security) is subject to taxation by the IRS because I have additional income. - I do not transfer any of my SS income to Thailand until it has "matured". So, all Thai Revenue requires of me is that I submit a copy of my 1040 (just the first page) when I file to get my 15% bank interest refunded. This is all the proof they require to see that the U.S. has first dibs on the SS pension.
  20. I agree with your statements, and this one question has a simple answer. Thai Revenue does indeed have first dibs; they refund the withheld interest and dividends only if and when they don't add up to the minimum level of taxable income. If I had a job and earned 250k a year, there would be no refund for me.
  21. Many ex-pats here choose to do it that way, let Thai Revenue keep the withholding and claim that on their 1040 as Foreign Tax Paid, but for Americans that is not correct per the IRS. They have a general rule that if it is possible to re-claim money withheld then the taxpayer must make a reasonable attempt to do so. Then, of course, you claim the entire amount of interest and dividends paid as income. The withholding was temporary and now re-paid so it is no longer relevant.
  22. Isn't true that you are not on 1 year stay then you only qualify for a 2 year license (even if your current license is 5 years)?
