  1. Go with the ACER. I worked at COMPAQ before and despite the fact that their name is supposed to stand for COMPAtibility and Quality. Their products really do suck. We get so many complaints and problems right out of the box, its mind boggling.

I'm really impressed with the ACERs, considering what they cost.

  2. I love my psp. Being able to play just about every old system(SNES, GENESis, and even CPS/MAME roms) , along with PSP/PS1 is great

I sometimes use it for videos which is great as well. There is so much more that can be done with a PSP.

Today is the web-launch of our new magazine, My Phuket, the result of months of blood, sweat and tears (well, sweat, anyway).

We are proud to present our latest creation, the English magazine My Phuket. My Phuket is an informative magazine that aims to entertain visitors to Phuket as well as local residents.

My Phuket is not just another tourist magazine carrying stories about advertisers. It is aimed, above all, at engaging the reader with accurate, timely information and entertainment, along with superior photography and accessible design to make a relaxed, good-humoured package. People want to be entertained while they are on holiday; this is what we will deliver.

Alasdair Forbes, former Managing Editor of the Phuket Gazette, is the Editor-in-Chief of My Phuket. He has lived and worked in Phuket for more than eight years and has been in journalism his whole working life. With Alasdair on our team we are convinced that My Phuket will enjoy both success and a wide readership.

Origo Publishing has made an exclusive distribution deal with Thaivisa.com to distribute the the magazine on the internet. Each issue of My Phuket will be available for download from Thaivisa.com as PDF files. The paper edition of My Phuket will be released on Friday August 17, 2007.

Obviously a lot of work and effort put into it. The magazine is well laid out and looks quite professional.

I would definately buy it. and at 100 Baht i think it's a good deal..

Keep up the good work. I think there is definate potential here.

    excellent idea.

  4. I bought it yesterday went back home and installed .. everything was fine until it started giving me sporadic loud "clicking" sound.

Sometimes 2-3 loud clicking .. i used seatools to check but i was told the drive is in good condition.

Is this normal, because it never happened to my sg 250gb 7200.10 drive ..

Can i return it to get another one from Dcom?

If i can, the "new" one i will be getting - is it refurbished or "brand new" ..

anyone with the same prob ?

    thanks

    cheers !!

It's hard to say for sure because i cannot hear the exact sound you are describing, but from my experiences loud clicking noises from HDs usually is a sign that the drive is about to fail.. It could be days or it could be months.

If you really don't feel good about it, then you should return it. Better safe than sorry a while down the road.

BTW, i have had a few drives die on my after making clicking/scratching noises. I also have a couple that still work after formattting them, but with bad sectors.

  5. For midrange I would highly recommend the Nvidia 8600GTS with DDR3 memory.. Here in canada it works out to be around 7500baht.

This is a dx10 card, with HD video playback support, SLI support as well in case u want to setup 2 video cards to increase performance.

  6. I have a guy in north NSW who can do me a good deal regarding parts for building my PC. But have been looking on Ebay and can find parts a bit cheaper. So i'm wondering. Has anyone on here bought stuff to build a PC on Ebay? I know what i need to buy, so i'm just wondering if anyone has experience of buying PC stuff.

They are often cheaper off ebay usually because the buyer has purchased the items in bulk. I have purchased hardware off ebay many times.. But sometimes you have to take the shipping costs into account, because it might turn out to be more. And don't forget duties which can be be a hit or miss( i say this because I just bought a new hd for my laptop and didn't get charged any duties :o )

So bottom line is that it is safe to purchase off ebay, and yes it can be cheap but sometimes it can end costing more after shipping + any other additional costs that may come up

But if you've done all the calculations and find it is still a good deal then go ahead and buy it! Just make sure the reseller has a high rating.
