Crime Irish Man Stabbed in Brutal Attack Outside Pattaya Condo

There are altogether too many stories lately about foreigners being involved in some kind of violent altercation. Sad situation and I wonder if the 60 day visa exempt has anything to do with this. -

This is old news….when first announced months ago they said Thailand could have flights to USA as soon as February but everyone knew that could not happen. They probably don’t have the planes either. Probably the only A 340 left is the one taken over by the military and those planes were too expensive to operate on such long routes. -
CNN Eyes Billion-Dollar Digital Future Amid Viewership Decline
Searat7 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Journalistic values ? These were lost long ago which is why their viewership has fallen so much. When I first started living in Thailand 20 years ago I always looked forward to watching CNN. Not any more…largely FAKE NEWS. How can they think people will pay for subscriptions ! -
Bangkok Building Collapse Sets Unwanted World Records

It could have been much worse….what if the earthquake was a year from now and the building was fully occupied with workers ? Building inspector could not have been doing his job and maybe his bank account should be checked. -

Immigration in Thailand needs to do a better job of screening certain types from certain countries. Very unlikely these women could afford to come to Thailand for a holiday. -
Bangkok Condo Owners and Agents Arrested for Illegal Rentals
Searat7 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Building Management is often complicit too by enabling access to short time visitors. I know of another instance where the management company owns a good number of condo units and rents out rooms just like a hotel. Visitors think nothing of going for a swim at 3 AM -

Mystery Key Boxes Expose Bangkok's Illegal Rentals
Searat7 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
There is absolutely no enforcement of the law banning short term condo rentals. In my building in Silom there are signs banning such rentals and requesting they be reported yet the office facilitates them by taking fingerprints for the doors so that these renters can enter unassisted. -
Thailand Moves Toward Cheaper, Smarter Transit System
Searat7 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Has been promised for 10 years so will believe it when I see it. The 20b fare is really impossible because the capacity is not there on the main lines. There will be chaos if they move forward on that and the cost to the government (to pay MRT and BTS) would be enormous. -

Trump’s Bold Proposal to End Gaza’s Cycle of Suffering
Searat7 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Trump is using a negotiation ploy to get other countries in the region involved to develop solutions for the (many) decades old Gaza problem. They (of course) objected to Trump’s proposal so let them come forth with their suggestions. -

A good start would be to have one card covering BTS, MRT and Airport Link. This was promised 10 years ago by the Junta. -
Check for Dengue Fever. My partner had this month and it included skin rash. They wanted to hospitalize him for 2 nights but he opted for 2 hour IV which helped. We are pretty sure he was bitten by mosquito in Pattaya. Blood test is available.

Trump and Obama: A Surprising Note of Camaraderie
Searat7 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
At least they can have an intelligent conversation together whereas Poor Joe is lost in space. I think there will be some interesting books detailing how government has actually been run during the past 4 years. -
Check out Magic Jack….you get USA number and can receive or make calls to anywhere in USA. All you need is internet. I have used this for years.

The real Elephant in the Room is the possibility of income tax on Worldwide Income. This could be a game changer for many and would certainly discourage some from moving here and buying condos. My thinking is that they would have to announce something very soon or the earliest year where this could be applied would be 2026.

MRT 20-baht bonanza: MRT hits the jackpot for commuters
Searat7 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The only way this would work is by adding a 5th carriage on main lines which will not happen overnight. Also the Silom Line is limited with frequency because of the single platform at Saphan Taksin. I wonder if the government has completed their long overdue payments to BTS too. The 20 baht fare would cost the government a fortune if all lines were included.
