  1. Can you submit 90 day report by mail (vs. visit to CW) if you have been outside the country in the past 90 days ? Actually I have been here since late May and took 2 overseas trips already.
  2. They really opened the barn door with the low requirements to apply for DTV. Really ridiculous that one could apply for an 5 yr visa after making a dentist appointment. I think changes will be coming by early next year if not sooner.
  3. Every day in the same spot there are negative comments about Trump. It seems so orchestrated I wonder if China or some other entity like USA Democrats are behind this. Very glad the election will be over soon. Neither candidate is ideal but Harris is totally incompetent and has done nothing since she became VP.
  4. I wonder why (mostly) negative commentary on Trump seems to appear in every online issue in the same spot. While he certainly has his faults the idea of Harris running the country is downright scary.
  5. I am going for Non O retirement extension soon. Have not received TM 47 for a year because of travel (before 90 days) and 4 month stay in home country. Also have new address here on current stay which started at end of May. I don’t have TM 47 slip from a year ago….is this a problem ?
  6. There is no place in the RTP for a reasonably honest (by Thai standards) police officer at a high level.
  7. The article in Pattaya Mail yesterday looks very credible to me and a 12/31/24 deadline for bringing in old savings was clearly given. I see this as closing a loophole.
  8. It seems that the Savings issue has been clarified for 2024 with a time limit to get your old savings into the country by year end but the RD has said nothing about taxing Global Worldwide income possibly starting next year. Sometime I think they put things out there as trial balloons to gauge reaction which of course has been very negative ( Worldwide Income Tax). So we can just wait and see what happens.
  9. Why would they negotiate with squatters living there illegally ?
  10. Thank you…I got the Reentry permit at DMK. Very easy to carry 2 passports for a few months. Much easier than waiting in yet another line at CW.
  11. Had a miserable experience at CW Immigration today- very crowded. Much to my surprise visa transfers to new passports are done in the same area as extensions (L1). I arrived at 9:30 and got my passports back at 12:02 pm. The officer doing final checks was busy with some ancient farang for the last ten minutes of the morning session and I think he might have missed my Re-entry permit. I don’t want to return to CW until my annual extension in Sept/Oct but I do plan to travel soon. I must say that going to CW is always a bad experience in some way no matter how well prepared you are and even if you have an appointment.
  12. Supposedly I can get appointment to transfer visa extension to new passport but none of the options on the pop-up page for appointments seem appropriate. Am I missing something ?
  13. Need to receive 2 so one can rescue the sailors from the other one
  14. Dr. Wicharn is the best. He operated on my back 14 years ago and I walked home 40 hours later.
  15. No mention of the 5 A340’s which were sitting around for many years. 6 if you count the one taken by Thai Military. Maybe some were sold
  16. I remember when Prayut had his first cabinet meeting and he asked for Tarit to identify himself. He already had a bad reputation back in 2014. It’s great that he is in jail !
  17. I have lived in Bangkok for about 7 months a year since 2004. I lived in 2 different buildings (condo rental) in Silom but now must find a new place. Initially I was very impressed by the number of listings on various agent websites but when I started to inquire I found that 90% these units were not available (bogus listings or units already rented). Has anyone else had this experience ?
  18. Isn’t it time for Thailand to stop accepting waste from other countries ?
  19. I thought the Airport Link was operated by SRT which would explain the maintenance issues. I wonder if CP Group took over recently- would have made sense for BTS to have this responsibility. To the best of my knowledge the fares have not increased at all since the line was opened ( still 45b from Phaya Thai to airport) so this must be a losing proposition which is probably subsidized by the government.
  20. He must have had a huge infusion of Red Bull (or some drug) before making this appearance which was very uncharacteristic as Americans have noticed a steady decline in his mental and physical condition during the past three years. This was the most partisan State of Union speech I have heard in my lifetime and it was delivered by an angry old man. Very disappointing but not really surprised.
  21. I think they should pay BTS the balance of the money owed to them before starting new projects.
  22. I have found it best to have a rule not to loan money in Thailand. In 19 years I have lost only 10,000 b which is not bad. If I see a good friend in need I would rather make the offer to help him out with a gift of money which was very much appreciated during Covid when I was stuck in my home country.
  23. A quarterly meeting would be more appropriate. Weekly meetings should be refused.
  24. Speed boats used here are poorly built (thin hull) and often overpowered. Then they load boats with too many people and the captain drives like a cowboy. A recipe for disaster.
  25. Dr. Smile. Silom. Dr. Suchart. Have used him for 15 years
