  1. Too easy to get bail in Thailand for serious offenses like murder !
  2. I spend half of the year in USA and other half in Thailand. I asked Netflix how to handle this and they told me I need to cancel service in USA and get new service when I come to Thailand. I believe I can still keep preferences and history. As expected service in Thailand is less expensive.
  3. Looking ahead to when this conflict ends I think that the major donors to pay for rebuilding should be other Western countries (unless there is a way to get Russia to pay) since the USA has already financed most of the Ukrainian defense with borrowed money contributing to huge deficit at home.
  4. Biden is a feeble old man, getting worse by the day. He will be lucky to be able to finish his first term. He is a puppet controlled by others who have some radical policies. Shame on his wife for even letting him run the first time. There is a very good reason he never has press conferences. Also I think the Hunter Biden laptop scandal could bring him down as the Congressional committee has so far found that 12 Bidens have received overseas money and you can be sure a good amount went to Old Joe.
  5. It was really stupid not to designate Silom Rd as a water throwing area.
  6. It was announced that they are not closing Silom Rd for water throwing this year. It was suggested that people use sidewalks and side streets instead which is totally inadequate- some smaller sois are even closed for water. I predict that there will be so many people they will just spill over into the main road anyway.
  7. The Jomtien bus service to the airport is so convenient and very cheap. You should really check it out.
  8. THAI originally had 10 A 340’s including the one currently used by the Air Force. I believe there are still 2 or 3 of these which remain unsold and presumably these have low operating hours for their age as they have been stored for years. Why not use one of those if the current plane really needs to be replaced ?
  9. Using a good N-95 mask when you go outside can make a huge difference. It eliminated my cough.
  10. At BNH I highly recommend Dr. Wicharn who operated on my back. I also recommend a chiropractor “Spine Balance” on Ratchadamri Road…a 10 min walk from BTS
  11. Will be interesting to see how many of these Russians go on overstay although the government will probably not say too much.
  12. I was riding through South Pattaya on Second Road the other night and I counted 9 Indian restaurants within a fairly small area. Surely these places are not run and staffed by Thai people.
  13. I have a Filipino teacher friend in Rayong. His school was slow putting documents together so he had to make a border run to Savanakhet a few weeks ago to get visa exempt entry. Now the documents are complete but he is hoping there is a way to get his Non B visa in Thailand to avoid another long van trip to Savannaket with overnight stay. Is this possible ?
  14. They had better buy 2 subs at the same time so they will have a rescue sub available when the other one gets into trouble down below.
  15. Have used Dr. Smile in Silom since 2008. Excellent dentist, very gentle and good price. I see Dr. Suchart there.
  16. Can fireworks be seen from Jomtien or must you go to South Pattaya ?
  17. I had tourist visa when I traveled from USA in July on SWISS. They demanded onward flight but fortunately I had booked trip to Cambodia and they entered all the details into their computer.
  18. I arrived here in July from USA with a cut in knee cartilage . I consulted 2 doctors, both of whom wanted to operate and put me on crutches for a month. The price at BCH was very reasonable at 250,000 b but the crutches were a big stumbling block. I found a great physical therapist at BCH and feel ok now but not perfect….this will keep me going till I return to USA early next year where I can look at more options . Your problem might be more severe than mine.
  19. I use USA credit card for Grab transport in Bangkok. Very convenient and you just hop out, adding a tip later if so desired.
  20. I am there now. Taxi from Silom. Very quick. Saw no water problem at all.
  21. I arrived July 4 and already have 90 day Non O retirement visa. I can get 12 month extension on Sept. 9 or later but am concerned about 90 day reporting because I don't want any more extra trips to CW. I have read here that first report must be done in person but on Immigration website it states :The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days. Does my extension qualify ? If necessary I could wait till Sept. 19 and get extension and 90 day reporting done on same day.
  22. I was looking at getting a Non O in Phnom Penh but they require processing time which causes you to be there for a week (Non O only). Tourist visas there very quick.
  23. One change I have noticed since I returned from Bangkok a month ago is that some restaurants (including some fast food) have started to have cashless transactions only. This was not a problem for me as I just figured out how to do with with Bangkok Bank app but I am wondering how real tourists will handle this as they won’t have Thai bank accounts and may not wish to use their credit cards here. Overseas friends are asking me about this.
