I'm constantly spotting little gems of dodgy diction and so I'd thought I'd share some of them with you.

It never ceases to amaze me why the perp responsible for these never thought to ask, "Excuse me farang, does this look Ok to you?"

This first one must have been run off in the thousands and at considerable cost. This was on the cover of a well known medical supplies diary. Beautifully bound, A4 sized, gilt edged, executive stuff any CEO would be proud to own.

Obviously a great deal of thought had gone in to the impressive graphics adorning the cover and underneath in big, bold font were the words:

"With 3M dental products any amazing beautiful can be happened to your patients"

Priceless!

I always remember reading from a menu in....Chiang Mai, I think it was, the appetising words:

"Omelette with stuff"

Oh well there's a couple for now. I bang some more up later, if you want.

I have 3 consequetive border entry visa's from trips i made myself, will i be arrested for abusing the system, i am worried about this after reading the posts.

Chill, Begs. You have nothing to worry about. You will not be arrested. I hope Roger realises that was a rather silly thing to say.

Change in the regulations seems likely and voa's may well be limited in the future but there's no need to stress yourself out over unnecessary scaremongering.

Dave Yo, I think an onward ticket is only required with a 30 day voa, but again is rarely asked for. Please correct if I'm wrong on this anyone. Some airports will not allow passengers to board if they don't have an onward ticket with no visa.

I once had a spot of bother at Narita in Japan. I was in transit from the States and a lovely, flustered little Japanese girl there insisted I must have a visa or an onward ticket. I politely explained that I shall be travelling on from Thailand in just a few days and shall purchase my ticket there. I was allowed to board eventually after a few tears and stuff. The problem is that should the visitor be denied entry for having no onward ticket and sent back from whence he came then the airline will have to foot the bill and I did hear of a fine being incurred as well. So there you have it. It appears that the Thai immigration laws are being enforced. Just not in this country! You've got to laugh really.  

Anyway, I'm sure things are about to tighten up soon, as we have all been saying. Revert back to 15 day voas? Well that'll keep the walkers fit, won't it?

It is the system which is as fault here, not those who use it. If the authorities feel that the system is being openly abused then they should ammend it. As long as one doesn't engage in employment and makes the effort to travel to the border every 30 days then what's the problem? Many people would consider themselves tourists regardless of their length of stay. The fact that they don't wear a bum-bag or buy the junk littering the sidewalks is irrelevant.

I can't see how this spoils it for anyone as Roger 13 seems to suggest. Greedy business operators issuing fake visa stamps to unsuspecting tourists has done that. The arrest of Hambali highlighted the failures in an already slack system. One should assume that change is coming but as usual it's still a quagmire of rumours, speculation and misinformation.

Any news of changes which will ensure our safety and security will, of course, be embraced.

One word of advice Nook, approach it all with Jai Yen. You won't win by giving a free character assessment to an Immigration officer.

I am sure Dr. Pat Pong has offered a great deal of good advice and will continue to do so.

I simply feel that comments such as "unwashed poverty packers" and "meagre, eked out existance" are not especially helpful coming from an administrator.

Or how about "offensive liitle mongrel", and "the guy is a turd"?

Some people could fail to see the wisdom in these remarks and be offended, don't you think?

There are many more little gems out there.

Sorry if you think I'm out of order here but surely one would be much happier to receive advice from a slightly more impartial stance.

Anyway, Dave, keep em' coming. i find your posts often entertaining and look forward to further epics.

Regarding the issue, for what it's worth, yes, I feel that the new regulations are somewhat harsh and should be a little less cash oriented, but understandable really. The government have been under pressure for some time now to get it's ship in order and so they go about it the only way they know how. I will comply as usual and continue smiling.

If things do become unbearable then I will take my family elsewhere. I love this country with all it's quirks and frustrations and I hope to stay here happily for many years to come.

Athough rather fond of the stuff myself and not short of a few bob, having boat-loads of dosh is not the the main aspiration of many happy people on this planet.

Perhaps all members will need to own a Thai Privilege Card to subscribe to this forum in the future.

One would expect an administrator to a be little less flippant with their comments.

I find Dr. Pat Pong's bigotted attitude towards "walkers" rather alarming. He obviously considers those not affluent enough to be able to afford a Thai Privilege Card not worth the time of day.

My word, Dr! Your ability enabling you to discern my financial status from one solitary, albeit rather strident, posting is truly remarkable. I certaintly don't wish to cause any trouble.
