We ordered a MG EV and although MG fit the charger. We must install the wire from our dedicated meter and supply a box to house the charger at about 10k baht.
Is this right?

42 minutes ago, Crossy said:My last information for MG is that they supply a 7kW charger. This will need a 40A circuit, there are some pretty specific requirements for protection, so it's best left to the contractor that MG will send to install for you.
Also, I believe they will not install unless you have a 30/100 meter! So it is time to talk to PEA/MEA if you have a 15/45.
I also understand that PEA will install a second 15/45 dedicated to the EV if a 30/100 isn't possible.
Compared with the EV charger a couple of A/Cs is not worth worrying about.
Thanks for the detailed reply, appreciated

We are thinking about buying a MG EV and wondered what it needs for charging at home.
Will it need a dedicated circuit, if so what specs do we need.
Also if charging at night and we use 2 air conditioners will this impact on the charging.
Thanks for any help

We bought a Daikin inverter last month from Dohome. It did not cool and we exchanged it with a Haier inverter which works much better. It was a real battle to exchange the units with Dohome but eventually it was done foc.
Daikin is a good brand I don't know what's happening to them

Solar novice here, where do you make the connection to your home power. Is it in the consumer unit or can you plug into the nearest ring circuit

Hi is there a list of quarantine hotels for the Pattaya area

Since I signed up I've had automated marketing calls every day. Also when registering it felt pressurised to sign up.
I have yet to try a transfer but if everything goes through ok I guess I will stick with this outfit

Hi I am on a 60 extension based on marriage. Had a multiple non o visa from savannakhet.
I have transferred over 400,000 into my Thai bank and understand this needs to be seasoned for 2 months before I can apply for extension of stay visa based on marriage.
However I will technically be on amnesty before my money is seasoned. As my 60 extension will have expired.
So will I still be able to apply for the marriage visa?

Many thanks for the replies

Hi
I'm currently on a multi non o visa being married from savannakhet.
Thinking about applying for a marriage visa at Udon thani based on 40,000 a month income.
Has anyone recently been through this process and do they want proof of pension etc. Or can I just transfer over 40,000 a month into my Thai bank for 2 months then apply without showing proof of my UK income.
Thanks for any assistance

I'm looking into applying for a visa based on marriage with bringing in 40 000 a month into a Thai bank.
Can someone please confirm the best bank for transferring the money into. I read somewhere there are 3 Thai banks which will show international transfers.
Thanks

Could you please confirm what paperwork is required for a 60 day extensionOnly one 60 day extension per entry is allowed and a entry from a re-entry permit is not a new entry since you do not get a new permit to stay date. To get another 60 day extension you would have enter the country using a visa issued by a embassy or consulate.

Many thanks as that's the info I was after. Looks like nong khai thenThere is no Lao visa on arrival available there. You would need to get a visa from the embassy in Bangkok or the consulate in Khon Kaen.

Hi I'm visiting bueng Kan for a few weeks and wondered if it's ok to use the ferry to Laos.
I'm on a marriage visa from savannakhet where I have to exit Thailand every 90 days.
Just wanted info if it's ok to enter Laos turn around and head back to Thailand on the same day.
Thanks for any help

Many thanksYou will only need the old-passport to exit the first time. But, for as long as you wish to use your existing visa, you will need to show both passports when ENTERING Thailand. The "Visa" cannot be transferred - only your permitted-stay, so the IO will reference the Visa in the old passport.

I have a non o multi entry visa based on marriage from savannakhet.
I recently renewed my passport. But the visa is in the old passport.
Do I take both passport with me when I exit Thailand or do I need to visit Thai immigration to transfer over the visa to my new passport
Thanks for any help

Update
So I did my visa last week
Mukdahan
Stayed at the kieng piman hotel. B450. Big room. Clean. A few local Thai eateries within walking distance. Strictly non smoking as signage everywhere. Even asked on check in that I didn't smoke, which I don't.
Staff very helpful. No English tv. WiFi very good.
Would I stay again. I'm not sure as I like a few more eateries within walking distance.
Have car park
savannakhet
Auara hotel B800.
Tried the Avalon hotel which is next door first but check in after 2pm. As it was 11am I walked next door to auara. They let me check in to Room immediately.
Clean but hard bed.no English tv. Restaurant which is expensive but ok. WiFi good. Will probably stay here again unless something better comes along.
There is now a mini mart near the bus station styled on a 7/11.
Both hotels were walk in prices

Are you talking about the one that is diagonally across from Hoong Thip? If you are then I'm sorry to say that it has gone. It is now a stationary shop. Shame. I went in there on my trip a few years back. Very nice it was. I did notice a new one right next door to HoongThip but did not go in. I had already had lunch on the floating restaurant "Savan Derm Lao.
Yes that's the one. Shame it's closed. One of the better places in town at the time.

Dao Savanh is the best place to stay in town but their breakfast is atrocious. Better skip it and go for the 30,000 Kip breakfast at the coffee shop next to the Hoong Thip hotel. It's superb and you get quite a spread for not much more than 100 Baht, including muesli with milk, baguette, fruit and juice. Their coffee is also excellent. One can always spot the farang who is in town for a marriage visa hanging around this coffee shop after submitting their visa application waiting for their visa so they can dart back across the border as quickly as possible.
Tuk-tuks are usually waiting inside or near the Dao Savanh hotel. However, it's a lot simpler if you've got your own transportation as it's a bit out of town but on the other hand not that far either - you can walk the 1km or so to the riverfront area where vendors set up makeshift restaurants in the evenings and during the day the restaurants and cafes are not much further away either.
Thanks for your reply
I looked at the reviews on Agoda for Dao savanh and while it probably is the best place in town it appears still run down and a good hike in to town. Also very isolated with all the best places to eat in the centre of town.
I've been to the place opposite hoong thip hotel a few years ago and if it's the same place then indeed was very nice.
And yes I'm one of the farang waiting for a visa and can't wait to get out of savannakhet

Thanks. We will get another meter for the EV.
It's to be installed in a car port, which is open on two sides.
Shall wait and see what MG say and what they expects us to provide for them.
