  3. I currently have a multi entry visa based on marriage. This is where i exit Thailand every 90 days. At present i go to Laos. Pass through immigration, turn round and go back into Thailand.

Do i need to renew my passport at least 6 months before my passport expiry date. As i understand you can not travel if your passport expires in 6 months or less.

Also, is there a step by step guide here on British passport renewals.

    Many thanks

  4. Not sure if this is the same, but when I bought my new I-Pad a couple of months ago, I went to the TRUE shop and asked them for a pre-pay/top-up card for my I-Pad; I was very specific about not wishing to have a monthly contract of any kind.

They sold me a True Move H net sim 3G+ for 99 Baht.

The value you add to the card remains valid for 60 days, but as soon as you add funds, (before the end of the 60 days) you automatically renew for another 60 days and you will not lose any value.

The package containing the sim-card is red, says in small letters 'PrePay' and shows two pictures in the bottom right hand corner of an I-Pad and a Dongel.

    I hope this helps...

Thank you............got the sim card and all works........thanks very much sir

  5. There are three 50 meter pools in Ubon. One at the Sports Center (very deep-don't rest), one at Narinakul high school and one at Ubon Ratchathani University 16 km out of town. Also swimming pools (small) at Sunee hotel, Laithong hotel, Nevada hotel and Ubonburi resort hotel (the biggest hotel pool) between Ubon and Warin. And a 30 year old 25 metre pool mentioned above, at Don Klang. Most pools are very crowded in the evenings and usually it is impossible to do lengths as Thais like to swim across and rest. Like their car driving-all over the place. If you want to exercise, best to go during the day. Recommend ear plugs to stop ear infections, bathing cap and strong goggles.

I know the Sunee Pool is open to the public but are the other hotel pools available to non hotel guests. Lai Thong is very close to where i live so would be grate if i could use their pool sometimes.

I got rid of true a few months ago after 12yrs, so glad i did as well, i dont think it was anywhere near as good as UBC. Now i just stream or download all the films or programmes i want.

Can't wait for monday come on ENGLAND!!!

  8. The furthest i have ridden my 4 year old bike in one day is 200 km non stop. This is cruising at a steady 70km. At the end of the ride the bike seems fine with no noticeable adverse effects.

I am planning to ride 450km in a day soon. Do you think the Honda can take it?. I don't want to send it into an early grave...........

What do you think.......Anyone else have experience of long non stop rides on a motorcycle........

  9. Dear Mr. J,

Please note that the ORIGINAL marriage certificate is a requirement for the non-O marriage visa. This is specified as one of the requirements for this type of visa on our visa run website. I also mentioned this to you in our email correspondence when you enquired about the marriage visa.

I am however glad that we were able to talk to the consulate and assist you in getting your visa despite this missing documentation. You are more than welcome and we are very pleased that it all worked out!

    Thank you and best regards,

Savan Vegas Hotel & Entertainment Complex.

How much is it a night at Savan Vegas Hotel...............

  10. Went to Savannakhet last month for a tourist visa.

There is covered car parking on the left just before the entrance on the Thai side of the bridge complex. Its 150 baht a night charge. Bus ticket from Thai to Laos was 50 baht each, the bus stops at Laos immigration and terminates at the market in Savannakhet. If you are travelling with a Thai partner and they do not have a passport they can get a 5 day boarder pass to enter Laos in the car park area.

As you know there are no lines when getting on the bus and you have to push in like everyone else. Apart from one racist remark shouted at me, we managed to get on the bus as it was very crowded.

Off the bus in Laos and on the left is the Laos immigration booth. 2 photos required. I tried to pay with US Dollars but they did not accept them, they only wanted Thai baht. I have payed with US dollars at Chonk Mek and Vientiane with no problems. After 10 minutes waiting saying i had no Thai baht it was clear i had to pay in Thai baht. After i got my Laos visa we had to pay an extra 40 baht to the security who check your passports.

By this time the bus that terminates at Savannakhet market had left and we took a tuk tuk to our Guesthouse, 100 baht each.

Stayed at Leena Guesthouse. 350 baht a night. Pleasant staff, clean room, hot shower, air conditioning, Thai TV only and free WIFI which was quick. Also, there was an open air restaurant where you can have breakfast or dinner. The food was satisfactory and the frenchbread was ok but the cheese was processed. You can also rent bicycles. It was a 10 minute walk to a main road where there were mini marts and restaurants etc.

We visited Lins Cafe which was walkable from the Guesthouse. Great food with basic surroundings.

Savannakhet is expensive compared to Vientiane. I would say most items in the minimarts are the Thai price plus 20 to 50 percent. Even a bowl of noodles where i would pay 35 baht in Thailand cost 65 baht in Savannakhet.

Upon reaching the Thai consulate you will be harassed by the visa agents opposite. They will try to sell you the visa form for 20 baht and complete the form for you at additional cost. These forms are free at the Thai consulate, although not displayed. Just go up to the window and ask. The forms are also very simple to complete. Just bring a pen and 2 photos.

There are many farangs doing the same and try to share a tuk tuk back to the market or bridge to reduce costs.

I went to the Casino last year in Savannakhet. Its nice to visit but is a few km out of town. There is not much to do in Savannakhet. The market was awful as Laos kids follow you and beg for money, with their hands pulling at your pockets and the museums are basic. There were a few massage shops on the main road but we did not bother. I found the Laos people to be reserved and there was not the friendliness i have experienced within Thailand.

General impressions, the incident with Laos immigration left a bitter taste and will look at using alternative options next time. In addition, Savannakhet is comparatively expensive compared to Vientiane and there was just nothing for us to do.

Finally, bring Loas Kip as they charge more if you pay in Thai baht.

  11. i have the True H 3g Unlimited package in Ubon using an aircard in my PC. Had the package for 3 months and at first it was ok but recently its become very slow. Not opening websites and playing Youtube is hopeless. I would say im getting the same speeds as on Edge.

Normally i would avoid True, had the True Move TV, that was an utter shambles too. Their lackadaisical approach to customer service is <deleted>##ing legendary.

Unfortunately dtac and ais dont have 3g here yet. But i may go back to using Edge as True charge over 1000 baht a month next month after the promotion period and im now getting only getting Edge speeds but paying for a 3g service.

  12. They have a facebook page that shows floor plans etc. Looks like its going to be Ground floor for parking with levels 1, 2 and 3 for shops. The food park being located to the top floor. The main shops already typed on the plans are Tops, Robinsons and Home Works.

This is only a facebook page so i guess this info is not set in stone.

Anyway here's the link where it says you can follow their progress http://www.facebook.com/centralplazaubonfanpage?sk=info

  13. Trying to get clear and honest feedback from any True product here is almost impossible. However, i find greater success now when i post on their facebook pages with questions.

True 3G have their own facebook page.

They do tend to delete your comments but eventually i seem to get answers.

  14. Peppers bakery is your best bet for information.

Weloveubon.com is a good site about Ubon. The information in the site is not up to date but gives you some great info about Ubon.
