Here in thailand for only about 6 months purchased a new CBR 150. I am considering when my stay is over sending it back to the USA does anybody have any suggestions or input on this subject. I am located In Chaing Mai. Costs ?
I would be interested in buying your bike if you need to get rid of it. Right now I am dealing on one here in Chiang Mai but it has a leaky fork seal and a damaged clutch handle bracket so would rather hold out for a better one. Let me know.

I test drove a very nice CBR150 today here in CM, but it felt a bit tight with that raised rear seat. (I kept nudging back to it.) I am 6'2'' tall with long legs and long arms, and I am wondering if the bike is better for shorter riders. Any comments out there from tall CBR150 owners? Other than the bike feeling too short, it sure handled nice! Are there aftermarket seats available? All help appreciatted.

After reading this thread, I am confused. I thought the Offshore Rate (Bringing money in from outside Thailand) was higher (baht to dollar) than the Onshore Rate (exchanging US Dollars for baht inside Thailand. Every time I get money from the USA, it is at a more favorable baht to dollar ratio than exchanging dollars for baht. Am I all wet? Maybe a money expert could explain why they are different. At any rate, the baht to dollar going up is good news!

Thanks All for the comments. And yes, it is best not to risk the current visa. The book is 80 percent done and I'll see what the publisher recommends. (The publisher is a large one with lots of foreign and Thai authors.) My fall-back is to have my original publisher do the book and then sell the rights here as suggested. Thanks again!

I am gratefully in Thailand under a O-A (Retirement) visa with 800K in the bank, and I want to write a book published by a Thai Publisher. (I have already published one in the USA and the Thai publisher is interested in a work here.) I don't get any compensation until it starts to sell, so do I need to have a work permit before anything transpires between the publisher and myself? All help appreciatted!

Does anyone know what days the Immigration Office near the airport is closed during Songran? My 90 day check in lies right in the middle of it, so will have to go early.

Thanks! That is what I thought, but did want to confirm. I hope some day I can buy you a beer!

I am a US Citizen and will be 50 this July. I have read all the requirements on the forum, which is really helpful.
My question is, once you have the Retirement Visa, do you have to leave the country every 90 days, or can you just report at a Thai Embassy office or local police station?
Also, how easy is it to renew after one year.
Thanks All!

Anyone know when BKK Chat will be open for use? Any good alternatives?

So how long is the Retirement Visa good for if you do have the money?

From what I saw in my 8 days in Chiang Mai, the posts confirm what I thought. Thanks to all those that posted replies! This American is headed that way!

Have been thinking of retiring in Chiang Mai. Am curious as to how much people are spending in CM that have done that. Looks like an apartment is about 4500 baht a month. How much are people allocating to get by there?
