  1. Ok, after searching fruitlessly for hours for a "Contact Us" tab on any and every Honda motorbike/motorcycle site I could find for Thailand, I finally found one on the Honda Motors website. So I sent them an email and politely asked them to please forward it to the motorbike/motorcycle division. I asked the following questions, in hopes of getting a definitive answer.

    1) Is Honda going to come out with a CBR 150 F/I ?

    2) Is Honda going to come out with a CBR 200 (F/I or not) ?

    3) Is Honda going to bring back an updated version of the CBR 250 ?

I had my wife also call a friend of hers who works for the Honda dealership on Mahidol road and ask her friend to contact Honda with the same questions.

Now it's just a waiting game to see when, and if, they answer.

Naturally my wife says that if they come out with a 250, it will be "too big". I remind her that just a few years before coming to Thailand I had a Kawasaki Ninja 650, which is much bigger than my current CBR 150, so the 250 will definitely not be "too big". Then it hit me that she means it is too big for her to ride, just as my CBR 150 is because her beautiful legs are just too short. lol. So, to keep her happy, I bought her a customized Honda Scoopy, so now she's happy again.

Good luck on the answers. As for "not tall" wives riding the CBR-150, mine will ride it in the Moo Bann. I'm looking for a Honda Zoomer for her to take on market runs. Nothing like 49 cc of raw automatic power to bring home the vegies......

There's been some heavy showers but on the whole May has been much hotter and drier than last year. Little bit of rain last night but today the sun has been shining, the sea is calm and the beaches are very quiet.

But the forecast is for rain next week. By late June it'll be hit and miss - cant guarantee the weather then.

Changian.... We just got back and had a great time. Timing was everything with the occasional rains. We even got to go on the 4 island snorkeling tour which was grand, and the only one that ran all week. Seas were a bit rough going out, but the snorkeling was great.

Sure was quiet though... When we got off the ferry at Centerpoint, we were two of three tourists walking off the boat. Truck taxi wanted 300 baht for a ride to White Sand Beach so we rented a motorbike instead.

Thanks for the advice on the rains. We risked and made out great. The next week sounds a lot wetter than what we experienced.

  3. It just came to my attention that posting a link to another forum violates the rules. I do not see an option to edit my post with the link so could a mod delete the offending link? Thank you and my apologies.

Doesn't look like folks are too concerned....

  4. Basically they're all good.

They do certainly all have their own qualities. Koh Chang is the only one that feels like a real tropical island to me though. With those high mist-shrouded peaks and world famous pythons being captured, it feels a lot wilder than the other ones. We just got back from there and had a grand time.

  5. Thanks for that explanation. Now.... can someone explain whey some topic folders are different colors, some faded out, etc? Haven't found a legend for that anywhere.

Click on any forum or subforum and you will see it at the bottom right.

Thanks Tywais! Now back to those dots.... Just a few more posts and I guess I get another one. Could be a life-changing experience.

  6. Ok, more grist for the rumor mill. Yesterday my wife and I took both cars to our favorite car wash to be cleaned. While that was being done we sat at one of those cement tables with the curved cement seat and my wife immediately struck up a conversation with a man who was sitting there. He had some very large binders open on the table displaying tires and it turns out he is a district manage for Goodyear tires. My wife then launched into our history of cars and motorbikes, and asked him what would be best for our current models. Somehow the discussion got around to my CBR 150, and how I was hoping Honda would come out with a CBR 200, as was rumored by some. At this point the man told her that I should wait because next year Honda was coming out with an upgraded and updated CBR 250. When she relayed this information to me, I told her Honda had stopped producing the CBR 250 in 1999, or thereabouts. The man said he was aware of this, but had reliable corporate info that they WERE going to bring it back, updated and improved, next year.

Meanwhile, I spent about 4 hours one day last week trying in vain to find any Honda website with a "contact us" tab in an effort to contact them in regards to a CBR 150 FI, CBR 200 FI, or anything along those lines. So if anyone can direct me to a web site that will allow me to contact them, I'll be happy to do so, and maybe we can get an answer straight from them.

    Thanks

Just1voice... How was the trip to the east? Bike work okay?

  7. Is there anything to be learned from the temperature of the condenser unit input and output tubes? We

have one AC that works great, and both the condenser's output tube and evaporator return tubes are frigid cold when touched. This is after a long on-run.

We have another AC that barely puts out any cool air. That condenser's output tube is frigid but the evaporator return tube is hot to the touch. Also after a long run but a different manufacturer.

  8. Guess I'm about to find out just how good my CBR is. One year old this month, never had a problem of any kind, and tomorrow I'm heading out for a "road trip". Mueang Chiang Mai to Phan, Chiang Rai. Then to Nong Bua Lamphu, on to Pitsanulock, Udon Thani, then Khon Kaen. Then back to Chiang Mai. No special reason for the trip, other than to have some fun. Naturally my loving Thai wife thinks I'm nuts, but for the most part understands my need for a small "vacation" of this type. But only after I promised to take her to Koh Samui for a week later in the year. lol

Sounds great! Bring your rain gear as you'll probably need it later this week. Looking forward to your trip report.

  9. Amorn Electronics sells 10 meter long display cables. Buy one and connect it to the external display port of your laptop and the other end to your TV and you are in business. (This assumes your TV has a display input.) They also sell audio cables (earphone plug on one end and right/left RCA plugs on the other end) so you can hook it up to your stereo system. Works great.

  10. Been adding small amounts of calcium hypochlorite granules to our drinking water for a while and really got a strong whiff of chlorine gas when I opened the plastic container of granules the other day. This stuff is dangerous to use so be careful out there! I think the occasional rains and high humidity got the granules reacting in the container which collected the gas until I opened it.

The stuff also will release gas when exposed to sunlight.

  11. Check out YouTube for tutorials on using Macs. There are some very good videos that get you using some of the neat features that Macs have. I posted some years ago on TV and will try to find them and repost here if I do.

  12. Is "Ima Farang" Kidding me????

WOW. Im at a loss of how people could be so ridiculously... (Im not going to say it because I need this thread to remain here so I can hopefully get help)

To everyone else who actually bothered to read my OP and is trying to help... thanks.

Bayareabeast.... Do you have any photocopies of your old passport? Any evidence like that will help as you try to get through this. Best of luck and keep plugging away. You are getting good advice on this forum.

  13. Google is your friend. Search 'Koh Chang Thailand' and the first site ( iamkohchang.com ) is mine - lots of island related stuff there. Search for 'Koh Chang Property' and the first site (kohchangrealestate.com) is another of mine - property related stuff there, but the same listings as on the first site.

See how you get on with those.

Hey, have the rains started down there yet? We're hoping the monsoons hold off until late June.
