  1. I see a glimmer of hope for the young lady who caused the accident. She has a mother who has a lot of courage and a fair amount of compassion.

Come on, I personally think it's all an act. She's just trying to save the family name and 30,000B compensation what a joke. I really do hope this underage teen driver gets what should be coming to her but I highly doubt she'll get in any trouble. Imagine if that was one of you Sons or Daughters who died in such a way and some lady was offering 30,000B compensation. I would through it back in her face.

You are certainly entitled to your own opinion but it shocks my senses that you think so little of your fellow humans to believe this woman doesn't feel awful about the deaths of 9-people who her daughter appears to have been at least largely responsible for. But more shocking is why you appear to want to believe this rather than the logical as this women is losing face big time by doing what she is doing and the article clearly states the offering was "token compensation" and the family member took it ... again, I would put a lot more credibility and care into the victim's family and what the believe than a poster here who seems hell bent on believing the worst in people.

Maybe I wrong but I've lived here long enough (12yrs) to see to many cases like this. Using the big last name as a get out of Jail free card, pay some money for it to disappear, losing face, etc. Maybe she has remorse but the family has lost face because of this and need to regain creditably again and going to these funerals she is trying to do that. I don't agree she is losing face by going to these funerals but she's trying to regain it. Ok some of it for sure is remorse but a lot of it is saving face. Even if the underage driver is at fault there is no way she will get in any trouble. Money, Big Last Name, Military Dad and so on. She has no worries. The police are charging her because of how many people are pissed off over this. If this was in North America she would be in a lot of trouble no matter what. This is my opinion but may not be yours.

I love Thailand but these types of stories really do make me feel disappointed with Thai laws and how things are run here.

  3. Can anyone Help, I seem to remember Thai Visa had an online grocery delivery service. Do they still have this and if not does anyone know of one in Thailand that delivers International foods? I need to buy some xmas food (ham, potatos, ....... etc) but just don't have the time to drive to Pattaya and get it. I live in Rayong. If anyone knows of any good places in Rayong that sells good international food that would be great. Was at Macro and Tesco in Rayong and didn't find much. Thanks for any replies.

  4. Does anyone know if there is a website or any place I can get a copy (in English) of questions that might be on the Thai drivers license written test. I went last week and failed the ferkin test. The english questions are terrible and hard to understand. The answers didn't make much sense too. Any help would be great. I just don't want to fail it again. It's kind of embarrassing. My drivers license from my home country expired that's why I have to take the test in the first place.

  5. I just tried to use my utorrent. Nothing works. I'm in Rayong. If they blocked torrents then they have lost a customer. I'll wait for a few more days and if it still dosen't work I'll go cancel my subscription with tot. I bet they will lose a ton of customers. And what right do they have to stop us using torrents? What's going on with Thailand?????????

    Edited:

Right after I wrote this my u torrent connected. I'm downloading a torrent right now and it seems to work ok. But didn't work earlier at all. Hmm maybe they got to many complaints and threats of cancellations.

Today no Torrents are working what so ever. Yesterday it was on and off but today seems everything is blocked.

  7. Your getting ripped off. There is no way you should be paying that much. I have a fair sized house with 3 aircons (one used 8-9hrs/day), big fridge, big fan that's on 12hrs + a day for the dogs, 3 big water pumps used a lot, 3 computers that are on a lot and I pay 2300 baht this month, the last 6 months its ranged between 1900-2300B/month due to the heat.

I also have an internet cafe with 2 aircons that are on 12+hrs/day, 44 computers (cafe always is 60%+ full and weekends mostly full) and I pay around 12000-15000B/month. So 1 person paying 8000B+/month is crazy if you ask me. Someone is getting a free ride that's for sure. You need to hire an electrician to do some investigating!!!!!

  8. Official press release from Amnesty:

Excellent, this will begin the process of bringing to trial those civilian leaders responsible - primarily Abhisit, & Suthep - for the massacre of largely unarmed civilians we have just witnessed. If not eventually in Thailand following a change of Government, then perhaps at the Hague.

The next Government will also need to investigate (perhaps using international investigators & accountants for the sake of impartiality) corruption in key ministries, and the improper granting of contracts to companies connected to prominent coalition politicians. Again trials of those presiding over this corruption as well as those specifically involved should begin once the evidence emerges - asset seizure would seem an appropriate partial punishment of those found guilty.

Come on get you head on straight. Your in Dream land!! How can you blame Abhisit for the SH**. If the reds would of just waited for the regular elections to happen none of this would of happened. The protests are clearly the reason for the unrest/violence and the Gov is finally dealing with it how they should of a long time ago. The red leaders should and will be delt with not Abbhisit/Suthep. Red leaders including Taksin, Black shirts = Terrorists in my mind. I just feel bad for the mislead red protesters. They have been poisoned with words and money. Every death should be blamed on the red leaders not the Gov what so ever! The reds can't even control there own mob and they never take resposability for anything they do, its always the govs fault. It's just all to crazy!

  9. I must say, it is amazing how everyone ever arrested for anything always admit to their crime in amazing Thailand.

This kind of scams have been going on for years, all around the world, still can not understand why it takes Thai police 100 000 000 loss to actually catch someone.

Read this book "Welcome To hel_l by Colin Martin" and you will understand why people confess in Amazing Thailand!!!!!

  10. If you have the space go buy a Dryer Machine. I had a problem with my clothes drying to slow which created unpleasent smells when I wore them. I bought a Dryer Machine and it totally fixed the problem and it also makes my clothes much softer. You can buy them at most shopping malls.

  11. My opinion would be to still come to Thailand but I probably would head off to Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai or Samui. Hang out there till things settle in Bangkok. Even if you stayed in Bangkok and avoided the trouble areas you should be totally fine but just to be safe I would head off somewhere and enjoy the beaches or mountains till things calm down. That's what I would do but it's totally up to you!!!

  12. Online games aren't a problem. Bad parenting is.

I have to agree. My wife owns an internet and gaming cafe and parents come drop there young kids off (as young as 4) at the cafe all the time and sometimes for hours and hours while they go do something else. How does that help addiction??

Cafes actually have strict rules they have to obey by but I have to admit there are lots of cafe owners who don't listen to them at all. My wife listens to all the rules. The police come by my wife’s cafe all the time to make sure everything is done properly. When the kids are in school anyone under 18yrs cannot come in the cafe till 2pm, they can't wear student uniforms at anytime in the cafe and they must leave by 8pm. Holidays they are allowed in the cafe from 10am-8pm. Police are pretty strict with this. If all cafe owners would listen to these rules I think it would help addiction a lot. I have to also say parents have a responsibility to know what there kids are up to vs. blaming the cafes for there childs problems. Parents are as much or more to blame.

  13. Hey All, I'm an expat of 10 years living in Rayong. I want to go on a holiday within Thailand and try somewhere I've never been yet. Lets just say I've been all over the country and just want to hear from other expats any interesting place and experiences they have had here. Any cool out of the way holidays/experiences within the country? I'm a moutain biker and maybe some cool biking spots? Hiking Spots? Cool out of the way sites, temples, historic areas or just cool interesting places? Camping? Anything!! I'm up for all types of suggestions anywhere in Thailand. Nana, Patpong, Walking Street or Patong dosen't count haha!! :)

  14. I'm just curious to here peoples opinion. What do you think the actual percentage is of people who suppot Taksin (Reds) vs The Rest of Thailand? Do you really think Pheu Thai Party would win the Prime Minister post if there was a vote now? Whats the chances Abhisit would win? or another party?

  15. I use Maxnet and I'm totally happy with it. I think it's the best I have found so far in Thailand. I live in Rayong but when I lived in Bangkok I used True Internet and I always had problems with them. I pay 1070 Baht/month for Internet. I know they have a 10 mb/s package now for a resonable price. Go to maxnet.co.th to find out more about there internet packages. Here is my speed from speedtest.net:

    Test 1

    Maxnet

    Download: 4.39 Mb/s

    Upload: 0.43 Mb/s

    Ping: 42ms

  16. Does anyone know of a computer program where a person has to enter their name and age only (no password) before they can log onto or use a public computer? Where their name/age/date used/time saved onto a central network computer. Is there such thing? I need to keep track of who uses my public computers. Governments orders. I can write down every name of a person who uses the computers but would rather have some sort of program do it for me. I have a busy Internet and Gaming cafe with 40comps and need to keep track of everyone who comes and uses the cafe comps. It's a bit of a pain the the a** but the Gov. is asking for name records. Thanks for any help!!

  17. Forgot to add. the lady handling visa applications can be difficult, rude and abrupt.

Lol everyone I know who have applied for a visa says this.....and I agree.

I have to agree, My wife and I are lucky to be on her good side but I have seen people in tears after talking to her. She is right to the point and won't be nice if you don't have all your documents. She dosen't like to many questions. Beware!!!!!

  18. My wife has been to Canada 3 times now. First time she was my GF and the last 2 times as my wife. There were no problems at all to get any of the 3 visas. We just got another visa for her to Canada last month. Were going there for xmas this year. These are the documents she needed:

    1. Application ( you can get it online)

    2. Family declaration Form ( you can get it online)

    3. Her ID, Passport, and Address Book

    4. Her Proof of her Employment, if she owns a business then she needs the business registration or if employed a letter from her employer staing her position and salary.

    5. Her Proof of funds ( this is the most important, she need a bank book(s) with usual deposits for at least 6 months or more. No one lump deposit. She should also have a some savings in her account too. If she dosen't have this she probably won't get her visa.

    6. Copy of flight details, all you need is an email from a travel agent with the flight details. No need to pay for the flight till she got the visa.

    7. Your passport

    8. Your Proof of address in Thailand and employment if employed. They want details where you live. If you live in Thailand and works here that means you will come back and so will she. But if you a tourist here they will really worry that she won't come back to Thailand and there is a good chance they won't grant her a visa.

    9. Where you both will be staying in Canada.

    10. If you will financially suport her while on the trip you will need your proof of funds. I would call the embassy first and ask them regarding this. I never had to show my funds so I'm not 100% sure about this.

    11. A letter saying you will take care of her while she is in Canada.

    12. A letter how you know each other. not usually needed but bring it anyways.

That should do it. Make sure you bring both real documents and copied ones with you. Sign and date every copied document. They want to see the real documents before taking any of the copies. It only takes 1 day to get the visa. Hope this helps. Cheers
