  1. I'm going to apply for my Non Imm O marriage/family Multi entry one year visa at Savannakhet on Feb 16. 2023. Do I need to make an appointment or just show up? It doesn't seem I need one but I just want to double check. I don't want to get there and find out I needed one. Has anyone recently applied at Savannakhet for this type of visa? Was it pretty easy? Did you have to show money in the bank and if so how much did they want to see? How many days did it take to get the visa? Thanks so much for any info regarding this!

Yes to both your questions.  The form from the Amphur is a KorRor 2 I believe and your wife gets it not you.  My local Amphur charges 20baht but I believe some don't charge at all.

Yes, that's it KorRor 2. I've went to get it many times just never to apply for a 2 month extension usually for the 1 year extension.

So it's pretty much like applying for a 1 year extension. All documents are the same accept you don't have to show funds in the bank. Is this correct?

I'm going tomorrow to apply. I just want to make sure I have everything correct or the Immigration lady becomes very grumpy haha!

About 2 weeks ago they required me to provide 6 months of bank statements for my non O visa at ho Chi Minh. Not sure what they were looking for but mine showed monthly transfers over 40k baht into my Thai bank account for each month. You need an appointment which is usually about 3 weeks from now last I checked. Savannakhet Laos doesn't require any financials. Cost is I believe 5000 baht for multiple entry at Savannakhet while it's 200 us dollars in ho chi Minh. Pristine or good quality bills with no writing or creases.

Maybe Savannakhet might be easier. Have you applied there before?

It is 20k baht for a single or multiple entry non-o visa.

So, the multiple entry would allow me to stay in the country for 3 months max then I have to cross the border and come back? or just report to Imm for the 90day reporting every 3 months just like when you get the 1 year extension?

Thanks so much for all the info. It really helps!!!

The embassy or consulate where you apply for the non-o might question you as to why you are getting back to back single entry non-o visas. Best to apply for a multiple entry non-o visa that allows unlimited entries for a year from the date of issue.

You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife of each 90 day entry from the non-o visa.

Ok, so when applying for a multiple entry visa, How much do you have to show in the bank? 400,000 for 2 months or just the 20,000?

    1. and 2. No You will need to show 20k baht in a bank.

    See: https://hochiminh.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/non-immigrant-o-accompanying-thai-spouse-and-family-members?page=5d80ab3315e39c2fe800a791&menu=5d80ab3215e39c2fe800a722

    3. It is a good choice. But it depends upon whether you want a single entry or multiple entry non-o visa.

The consulate in Savannakhet Laos will issue a multiple entry visa. Vientiane a single entry non-o visa.

Penang Malaysia would do them before as well but I have seen no recent reports about them since covid 19 started.

    4. No

    Thanks a lot!
    A curious question!
Is there a limit on how many times you can apply for a 3 month Non Imm O marriage visa? Can I leave the country every 3 months and apply or will they force me to apply for a 1 year extension after a certain amount of times applying outside the country?

  7. Hey Guys, I have a few questions regarding applying for a 3-month Non Imm O marriage Visa at the Thai Consulate in Ho Chi Minh.

    1. Do I have to show 400,000B in the bank?
2 Does the money have to be in the account for 2 months? or no need to have it in the account 2 months just as long as it's in my account the day I apply?

    3. Is Ho Chi Minh the best choice outside of Thailand to get the visa?
    4. Do my wife and child have to accompany me to the Thai Consulate?

    Thanks for any info!!

You wife will need to be with you when you apply.

Copies of passport photo page, visa, current extension stamp, entry stamp and TM6 departure card.

Copy of marriage certificate. Copy for your wife's ID card and house book registry.

    A completed TM7 form.

Will I still need to show the 400,000k in the bank? If yes, is there a timeframe the money has to be in the account? or just as long as it's in there when I apply for the extension?

A big thanks again for all the comments!!

Have you previously used 60 day extension to visit wife.

That would provide enough time to season the 400k for two months.

If you have used that extension ....the best option would be to border bounce and reenter visa exempt and obtain non O marriage at your immigration office.

To apply for non O the 400k only needs to be in the account on day of application.

The subsequent extension requires the funds in bank for 2 months.

The 90 day stamp from the non O provides enough time to obtain extension.

You would apply in last 30 days with minimum 15 days remaining on your permission of stay.

As always consult with your immigration office and ask for flexibility

Thanks so much, this is great advice. I think that's what I'll do. I'll apply for a 3 month non Imm O somewhere outside Thailand then apply for a year again like I usually do at my local immigration office. If the 400,000K only has to be in the account the day I apply then there shouldn't be any worries.

Where is the easiest place to apply for the Non Imm O visa?

I've been living here straight for the 22 years. 18 years of those with my wife and using the 1 year non Imm O renewals. My renewal isn't due till the beginning of Dec. It would be great of they would let me extend my visa for a few weeks. I wouldn't have any issues then.

  11. I need some advice. I've been renewing my Non Imm O Marriage Vias every year for the last 17 years without any issues. I've been using the 400K in the bank. This year my funds are going to be a little short and I won't be able to get the total 400,000k I need in time of the 2 month cut off date. I'll end up being around 2 weeks late. I know I should have organized this earlier but I didn't. What are my options? Will I have to leave the country and apply for a non Imm O outside of Thailand? Where is the easiest/best place to apply for a Non Imm O outside of Thailand? Can I apply for a 1 year Non Imm O outside of Thailand? I know all the documents I need but what are the requirements for the 400,000B in the bank option applying outside of the country? Do they still want the money in my account for 2 months or is it 3? OR is it better to come back to Thailand using a tourist visa then leave again knowing the 400k was in my account for over 3 months then apply for a Non Imm O? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!

It's relatively easy and only 100 baht in Bangkok police centre opposite Siam Paragon. I'm not sure if you can do it in your local police station. They need to fingerprint you and take pictures.

    http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/

That's their website. I got one when I was abroad before and they were very efficient at answering emails in English. Contact them directly with any questions you have. In fact their service is so good I think won a big prize for efficiency a few years ago. Good luck...

    Thanks so much!!

  13. Has anyone obtained a criminal records check in Thailand? I need to get one that says I don't have a criminal record in Thailand. (which I don't) Has anyone done this? What are the steps? Can I apply at my local police station in Thailand or do I have to be apply for it in Bangkok? I'm Canadian living in Thailand. Any help would great! Thanks so much!

  14. OK! Thanks for clearing that up.

They shouldn't put the s in Parent(s) . It makes it sound like they mean both parents.

It is badly written but it is referring to the foreign parent applying for the extension.

There is no hard and fast rule that if you are married you can't apply as a parent. I've had two extensions granted as a parent at two different offices with my wife present and the bank balance topped up on the day of application. So if seasoned funds or proof of income is an issue it's worth asking at the office processing the application.

Money not an issue but I've never heard you can apply as a parent. So what's the difference? Do you need to show the 400,000B in the bank for 2 months or you just have to show 400,000B at the time of applying for the extension without the 2 month period?
