  1. Does anyone know what would happen in this situation:

    I'm (Canadian) happily married (8 years) to a Thai and we have a 5 month old baby. We own a house with land that's worth about 10,000,000B. Everything is in my wife’s name. Say something happens (car accident etc.) to my wife (passes away) and I decide to move back to my home country with my son. Say we want to sell the house and land. If I understand correctly everything she had in her name will be given to my 5 month old son. Can we sell the property that's now in his name? I'm just not clear on the Thai laws regarding this. Would a will make anything easier in this situation.

    Thanks god my wife’s fine and I'm not in this situation. I have no plans to leave Thailand for now. We haven't set up any wills as of yet and we both are thinking about doing it. Any advice regarding a will setup for a farang married to a Thai in Thailand?

  2. I have a visa extension coming up and I'm just getting all the docs I need together and I saw people needed a Kor Ror 2. What is a Kor Ror 2? Do I need it for my Non Imm O extension based on marriage? I've done extensions for many years now and I've never been asked for a Kor Ror 2 before. Rayong Imm. Office is where I do all my extensions at.

    Does anyone know if there are any new changes from last year for the extension based on marriage (Non Imm O)? I thought I would ask because it seems to change all the time. Thanks

  3. Actually a lot of Thais (and some farangs too) fly to Hong Kong/China and buy a lot of counterfeit items for dirt cheap. They fly in groups of 2 or 3 and each person fills 2 large suitcases full of stuff and flies back to Thailand to sell the stuff at markets or they sell to sellers. Happens more than you think. My wifes has friends who have done and still do this. A lot of counterfeit stuff in Thailand comes from HonkKong/China.

  4. I just did a speedtest using Speedtest.net. All seems to be back to normal for now. The only thing not really fixed is my ping. It's usually around 26ms to a Bangkok server. I've never really seen it much higher than that except in the last few days.

    I'm using TOT 10/1mbs home package.

    Bangkok= Ping: 67ms Download: 9.78mbs Upload: 0.90mbs

    Hong Kong= Ping: 95ms Download: 9.68mbs Upload: 0.89mbs

    Singapore= Ping: 75ms Download: 9.85mbs Upload: 0.91mbs

    London= Ping: 385ms Download: 9.56mbs Upload: 0.78mbs

    New York= Ping: 335ms Download: 9.77mbs Upload: 0.82mbs

    Are you able to load the pages which were slow/not loading before?

    Yeah definitely faster than yesterday.Most or not all sites seem to open 10 times faster. We'll see how long this lasts for.

  6. DSL? Post line stats.

    Try Google DNS servers:

    8.8.8.8

    8.8.4.4

    report back.

    Yeah it's DSL

    Ok I changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

    When I speedtested the Download and the Upload speed was slightly better using the Bangkok Server. Ping was the same

    Nothing changes when I used the New York Server. Really Really Slow!!!

    You re-started the router and any PCs attached?

    Can you provide any DSL line statistics?

    Which websites? Post traceroute results.

    I've worked on a few problematic TOT DSL installs, invariably the issues have been with DNS servers - the TOT DNS servers crap out - and/or line problems, esp. cross-connects at the CO as a result of bad work when adding newer subscribers. With DSL, esp TOT, things change almost daily.

    After restarting all the computers in the house. The speed has seemed to improve. I just got a speedtest of: Ping:320ms 9.5mb down and 430kb up (NewYork Sever). That was pretty much the same for servers all over North America. One thing I noticed was that when testing the down speed it wasn't smooth it jumped around

    Here are my Router Stats:

  7. Service provider? Service type? Line characteristics? DNS settings, Ping/Traceroute results? Websites? FTP results? BT issues?

    Without a lot of detail, these threads are an exercise in futility; you'll get three people having issues and the other 6 million who have no problems will not post.

    No issues on the ~ 12 True DSL installs in metro-Bangkok which I support.

    Provider/Service: TOT 10/1 Home Internet

    P.DNS:119.46.240.3 S.DNS: 203.113.5.130

    Almost all International Websites have a problem.

    Speedtest: Bangkok: Ping: 75ms, 7.34mb (Down), 848kb (Up) Not to bad but usually around 9.3mb (Down).

    Speedtest: NewYork: Ping: 331ms 0.07 (Down) it takes so long I gave up so I'm not to sure the upspeed.

    The Internet usually has speeds of: Ping 26ms, 8-9.5mb (Down), 800-900kb (Up) and never usually has an issue.

  8. I live in Rayong and the Internet has been really slow for the last 2 or 3 days. Some websites are fast to open while other take ages (like most International site). My internet connection is usually really fast. Sometimes the sites open quick but 99% of the time they open really slow. Like I said only for the last few days. I can't open speedtest.net properly to test the speed. It takes ages to load which in not normal. Anyone else in Thailand experiencing the same problem?

  9. Hey Everyone,

    Thanks for all your replies.

    I pretty sure my wife will be awake during the procedure. I don't plan to watch the actual operation (but I'm totally fine with Blood and gory looking things) I just want to be there to support my wife and maybe cut the cord. Must be a bit scary (for her) being awake & alone with only docs and nurses during this operation and I'm sure she'll feel much better if I'm there. I'll just sit be her head. I did watch a full C-Section on YouTube. It's defiantly a bit gory but it's not a long operation. It scared my wife a bit.

    BHP is pretty expensive (45,000B C-Section 4 days 3 nights in hospital) but the doctor we use at the women’s health center he's great (Dr.Bancha). He lets us know everything good or bad, spends a lot of time with us. Explains everything in Thai and in English. I would never change hospitals right now because the doc knows us - her conditions well. We had been trying to get pregnant for 5 years and decided to try IUI at BHP. The first time we tried IUI she got pregnant. Dr.Bancha was the Doc who performed IUI and he's the one who will operate so makes sense to stay with him. If anyone is looking for a hospital to try IUI I recommend BHP. Message me if you want more details.

    I'll talk to the Doc during my wife’s next appointment. I'll reply back and let everyone know if I'm able to attend the birth or not.

  10. My wife is going to give birth shortly (next few months). We live in Rayong and she'll give birth at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. Due to a bleeding problem that occurred earlier in her pregnancy she'll more than likely have to have a Cesarean. Now my question is, Will doctors in B.H. Pattaya let me go into the delivery room with my wife even if she's having a C-section? Or do I have to wait outside? I would love to be in the room with her. Our next Docs appointment is not for a while (forgot to ask the Doc about this during the last appointment) and just wanted to hear if anyone was able to be in the delivery room with their wife during a C-section. Has anyone gone through this at B.H Pattaya? I know most public hospitals don't let the father in the delivery room even if it's a natural birth. Any experiences you can share would be great. This is our first child and I'm a bit of a newbie at this. Thanks

  11. Yeah I've been dealing with Rayong Imm for years now. I find them very friendly and I've never had any issues with them what so ever. You never really have to wait there that long too.

    A little bit off topic. Does anyone know what dates they will be closed during Songkran? I have to go for my 90 day notification on April 18th.

  12. Hi, was after some help. I am in Brisbane and my partner left Bangkok yesterday and is in just outside Khorat at the moment.

    For the past few days I have been having issues calling her on her mobile, sometime's I get through and other times I cannot get a connection.

    Has anyone had the same issues or know's of any issues with the telecommunications system within Thailand at the moment, due to the floods.

    I hope to be in Bangkok in the next two week's.

    I just had a problem today. I'm using AIS and a few times today when I tried to call out it woulden't connect. Just went to one of those fast busy signals. I thought maybe it was the number I dialed so I tried other numbers and it was the same. It took about 10 tries and then it worked. I just tried now and it's working fine.

  13. Marriage extension

    Why can't I use my wife’s monthly income when applying for my Non Imm O yearly extension? I used to be able to use my wife’s monthly income a few years ago and then the law changed. Why did it change? Will you ever consider allowing it again? It doesn't make much sense to keep 400,000B in the bank for 2 or 3 months when my family can use that money for other things/business/make more money with it.
