I bow to your superior knowledge of the subject ...lol....I have not seen or heard about the 30 th April thing, and I was just quoting what I knew from the newspaper reports of the earlier case. However I read the Bangkok Post daily and am surprised that I haven't seen the later report.

I have to admit though that I would be surprised that a court could make a ruling to show all 64 games free...is the court going to pay RS back all the millions that they spent on buying the rights in the first place, anyway just 10 days to go and we will see what the true answer is, won't we.

  2. Just a though.....in addition to the above info, if you have an internet package with your smart phone then the providers (at least true and AIS that I know of) are giving a service so that you can watch the games live on your phones and if you can connect your phone to your tv then that's another way you could do it.

    Just a thought.

  3. RS were taken to court and the ruling was that 22 matches were to be available free to air.

    This includes

13 games from the first rounds

2 games from the round of 16

    4 quarter final games

    2 semi final games

    And the final itself.

Free to air means anyone with an aerial can receive the signal so you don't have to have CTH or any other package, although the signal would be better reception of course.

If you want to have your own choice of the 64 games then you will need a RS Sunbox set top box.

The "sunbox" set top box is the RS own set top box and is available from various outlets including 7/11's at a price of 1599 baht.

You will need a dish with this and as I haven't purchased mine yet I am not sure which satellite it uses.

I hope this info helps you guys.

  4. There is a Samsung repair center in Korat. They fixed my plasma tv under warranty.Basically replaced the whole inside with a new board Good Service

    Lefty

where is that please all my telle's are Samsung and I are about to get another, not had any problems YET but its good to know where you can get good service. [FOR ANYTHING]

It's on the main road from Korat to Joho, the road with Big C and Macro. Drive north to the traffic lights by the Pegasus Hotel then do a U turn and come back towards Big C. Drive past the Ford garage and the Samsung Repair Centre is on the left a bit further down, I think it's opposite St. Mary's Hospital.

    Hope this makes some sense.

  5. One thing I always used to get at the Mall was Flora but all the supermarkets in Korat seem to have stopped stocking it now, which is a shame because there is no similar alternative, the so called soft butter is still far to hard to spread when taken out of the fridge.

I will look in Bangkok the next time I go.

  6. Haha I didn't say the market was restricted to uni girls....lol...it's an excellent clothes buying market so the ladies come from everywhere. Anyway I often see farangs wandering around who are obviously guests of the Dusit Princess Hotel but very rarely see many expats over this way so I just thought I'd lat you know about the place.

  7. Sorry admin I seem to have double posted my new topic, I can't see how to delete one of them so perhaps you would be good enough to do that for me and also this post. I thank you.

  8. I know I have already been mentioning about this night market on another thread here, but I think it's worth it's own thread to bring it to people's attention.

Ban Koh market is on Suranarai Road in Korat, head past the universities and the Dusit Princess Hotel on the left and the market is just after the hotel also on the left.

Best time is 6 pm till 9pm, although it generally has many people there before 5 and up till 10pm.

The market is packed every night , weather permitting, and for any bird watchers out there it is great to get a beer from one of the refreshment kiosks around and just spending an hour or so sitting at one of the many tables and chairs in the food courts. You will see more gorgeous girls there than the mall or indeed any of the other markets, reason being it is in the middle of university bedsit land.

My house is almost next door to the market and I recommend all of you to come and enjoy a nice evening out there.

  9. Just out of interest, why do you want to stay next to the Mall, do you intend to spend every day shopping???

Surely you would be better staying nearer the nightlife if you intend going out at night that is.

    HL

Sounds like you've never been to Korat. ;-) There's is no nightlife. Of course there's some bars, some of the falang operated, and there's quite a few good restaurants, but other than that it's dead at night.
Well you couldn't be more wrong as I have lived here for five years and still do. Thank god it's not like nana or pat pong. So you only think nightlife consists of Gogo bars and coyote bars then.

If you turn left at Big C and head towards Joho and then take a right at the Pegasus Hotel and head towards the Maharat Hospital you will find many Thai restaurants with live music every night also many nightclubs.

Not just on this road but all over the square mile from this road up to the Ban Kho night market on Suranarai Road. And if you haven't been to this area or this market then you don't know what your missing as the whole area is overloaded with students from all the universities on Suranarai Road. This market is packed out every night and has many food outlets of all types, all well used by the locals. Not as big as save one but just as busy. The nightclub next to the market Ban Gru, is the only one in Korat that I know of, to stay open till five ish although it's just about 100 percent young Thai's as its clientele.

But as the OP has now stated that he is not interested in alcohol or female company then I guess he is doing the right thing staying at the Mall....lol

    HL

No, I don't think of nightlife as go-go bars at all, but that's what the majority of people who come to Thailand think it is. Nightlife also includes discos and there's only one as far as I know, but discos haven't been my scene for two decades now. I'd rather go to a nice lounge with some background music that still allows you to have a civilized conversation instead of having to yell at each other! ;-)
If that is what you are after then I still suggest you come up to the area I am talking about because the Dusit Princess Hotel has a very nice bar area that will suit you perfectly, mind you the drinks are expensive.

As for disco's, I really don't know where there are any, all the clubs I know about have live bands and only play disco songs between bands. Oh there is one....next to Dawan Dang night club , up opposite Sima Thani Hotel. If you want some names of clubs ....Dawan Dang, Update, Bar Nana, U bar, Krung Thep Ratchasima,

Ban Korat, Ban Gru.....is that enough for you. I don't see how you can say there is no nightlife just because there are no lounge bars that suit you. Korat is a big city and many of the young from around the province also live here so where do you think they go at night, have a drive up Suranarai road one night and around that area you will be surprised my friend.

  11. H L call into the Premier Sports Bar and ask about the pool league,,, if we are looking for players your welcome to join, if we are not I'm sure we can point you in the right direction.

Games are on a Monday and a Wednesday, it's not compulsory to play, so I'm sure if your not up for 2 nights every week you can just jump in if and when you feel like it.

Monday league consists of 4 single players and 2 pairs of players, so a minimum of 4 players or Max of 8, but the wednesday (league of gentlemen) is a bit more relaxed and you can play with as many players as you wish,, it's a race to 13 frames in the wednesday league so in theory, you could play with up to 13 players in a whitewash or more if frames are lost on both sides.... having said that, the serious teams play with 4 good players and the not so serious teams who are out for a good ole night of banter and beer will play with as many as they can muster.

    Hope this helps ya

That was Keith but it was then taken over by a couple of other guys one of whom was called Tony. It was quite a big building, what is it used for now then?
