  1. I have a ktc card, actually I have two of them with a limit of 400,000 baht, also can take cash to that amount out of the atm. plus I have one card from Ayudhya bank with a 300,000 limit. all 3 are platanum. so Farangs can get cards.

    you need work permit

    passport

6 months banking with one bank to show salary for last six months

plus someone Thai who can help you sort it out. try to get a Thai director from your company to go with you. it should not be a problem. unless you have bad credit history coz they do check.

  2. I bought a new Civic 2Li in Bangkok. I paid 1,040000 Baht.

    extras:

    1 years insurance

    3 years warrantee

    tinted windows

    Honda mats

    3 full services 10,000, 20,000 and 30,000 kl

I would of shopped around more if I had known I could get more.

anyway, the car is great, I love it and Honda showrooms at Ekemai in BKK are very good. I do recomend them, but push them coz you will probably get more than I did.

  3. I am really sorry for your loss. who and why would they do this? if someone poisoned my dog I would be livid and they would regret doing it.

why would someone try to be teaching you a lesson? did you upset the neighbours in some way?

    I really feel for you.

    RIP Sioux

  4. Hi

If a car has an MP3 adapter on its music system does this mean that you can plug the mp3 unit in via its USB connector or is it by a separate lead via the headphones jack?

    Thanks

    TBWG :o

I plug my Ipod into the headphone jack. not sure about an mp3 player but it only costs 200baht for the lead to find out.

  5. yeah, you could get it fixed. there is worse on the road. but think about it! how much do you love your wife? would you let her drive it again once it has been "fixed"? better and safer to get rid of it.

like one poster said, buy a new one. very cheap downpayment and as little as 7-8K a month.

you cant let your wife drive that mate...........

  6. Hi guys, it is so sad to have our bulldog adopted, but we have n o choice because my eldest son who takes care of it has to go back home, we wanted him to take the dog home with him but it just costs to much and me and my wife cant take care of the dog because of work. I talked to him and he wants to have it adopted by a responsible owner.

  8. 320 sold in Thailand has 150 hp and 180 Nm torque, higher than Civic, though Civic gets more power as it revs higher.

I seriously doubt it would outrun 320 in 0-100 race.

I also doubt that you'll find any official Honda performance figures. That oversight is more than compensated by faithful Honda fans who are absolutely convinced that their cars are the fastest in the world.

Seriously, Honda Thailand doesn't have ANY statistics on its website, and nothing about tiptronic transmission either. Just five speed auto with manual up and down shifts on the steering wheel. I remember power outputs from the Motorshow.

I once saw performance comparison in a Thai magazine. They didn't have 2l Civic there but 1.8l version was somewhere in 11+ sec range. The winner was 2l Mitsubishi, I guess thanks to CVT.

    >>

There was a comment in this forum from a guy who sold his 2.0l Civic, he said it handled like a boat.

the bm weighs half a tonne more than the civic, same sized engine. top speed of bmw is 210 KPH, ive had 225 KPH from my civic, scary but did it. the civic will beat 1-100 for sure, do the maths!

The tiptronic gears are good and you can rev the h-ll out of these cars which help make it slightly faster also. but you know what? if I had the money I would have a BMW.

  9. ehh, 320i has 167hp and it does 0-60 (100kph) in 7.5 seconds. Unless your talking about an old model.

    you sure???

I went and had a look at one (not that I can afford to buy one) but anyway.........

141 horsepower it said, I might of been mistaken and looked at the 318 but pretty sure it was the 320 as I can remember I looked at the horsepower to compare with my civic.

whatever, the new civic kicks butt, and I think it is pretty fast. its great with the tiptronic gears. I still like it even if it is slower then a BMW.

  10. Honda 0-100 in just over 7 secs.

    Yeah, right....

If it was true then that means it would beat 2l engine BMW 320 and be on par with 2.5l engine 325.

Mazda easily is the best looking car, and apparently it handles better than Civic, but in all other respects Civic comes on top. New Mazdas have higher power output, almost on par with Civic, but forget about standard 2.3l version sold everywhere else, and check what they say about 2l Mazda engines in US reviews - they suck.

mate, i would take on a bmw 320 any day, they are about 9.7 sec 0-100. dont forget a bmw weighs a lot more then a civic. plus a 320 only has 141 horsepower.....

  11. Honda 0-100 in just over 7 secs.

Official time for the previous civic 2.0 (7th generation was 9.6 seconds for 0-100. Others have put the time closer to 9 seconds or thereabouts. I own one and that time seems reasonable. The engine is great, but the suspension is a little bouncy in the back. If you got the civic I would suggest a change of springs to bring it on a par with the mazda 3 (which I haven't driven). The gearbox in the civic makes it a little sliggish in my opinion in around the town driving. Fine for high speed cruising though.

What horsepower has the 7th generation got for the 2 liter?

  12. I took my civic into honda last month for its 30,000 health check. and was charged 2400 for oil, while the first two times I was charge around 4000 baht for Synthetic oil. I asked them if it was synthetic and was told it was. I questioned them about the price being cheaper so I did not think it was synthetic, but they assured me it was. I never got to see the container.............

now when at traffic lights when my car is ticking over it gets the shakes everynow and then, or more like a small vibration and I notice the rev counter dips a tad. is this normal or is it because of the different oil?

  13. I want to buy a car for use in BKK and for road trips.

I'm considering Honda Civic 2.0 or Mazda 3, as they are reasonably priced compared to European cars in Thailand. I'm also thinking about leasing.

    Any thoughts??

    Morten

The Civic is far better value for money, plus it has a much better engine in my appinion. it is also quicker as it has more horsepower.

I have had my Civic for a year now and I love it.

Why is the Civic better value for money?

Take a test drive of them both, and then make your mind up on which is the better car for you. I think it is better value because of the build and design, plus the engines are Vtec, Vtec are awsome, they kick out a lot of power, the 2 liter has 155 horsepower and the 2 liter Mazda has 141 horsepower. Honda 0-100 in just over 7 secs. plus dont forget the honda has tiptronic gears. (same gear shifts as formular one racing cars) this is a lot of fun to drive with. my car has done 168 KPH in third gear. the Honda is a performance car the Mazda isnt.

plus my wife says the Mazda is ugly inside............. :o

I like the civic because I own one. someone who owns a Mazda is going to prefer that car. all you can do is test drive them both. all I am saying is that I think the Civic offers more for your money thats why it is better value.

Great answer.Thx.. Im very picky about the interior. In europe i prefer Audi. Great interior. But ridiculously priced in Thai.

    I will test drive both.

Try Honda on the corner of Ekhemai on Sukhumvit. very good service there and after sales service also. please let me know which car you went for in the end.

  14. 10 days or so ago the girlfriend and I went to the Moon Beautiful in Nakhon Sawan and she ordered the food. I got what was asked for with no problem. The girlfriend asked for Tuna salad. She got a small fish served on a plate.

OK, mistakes happen. The problem was rectified.

Tonight we went to the same place.

My food arrived with no problem, but the girlfriend had ordered fish soup in a bowl. That was not what she got. So, it was sent back and then a bowl arrived some time later filled with prawn soup. That was sent back as it was not what she had ordered.

After some length of time a bowl of fish soup arrived. Luke warm.

This time I beckoned a waiter and he got the message that the food was unacceptable. I did not need to raise my voice. He soon understood the food was warm and not hot.

After a long wait a bowl of fish soup arrived. This time it was hot.

I ate my chicken and salad but the girlfriend hardly touched her food. She says it smelled bad. as if the fish was old :D

I was tempted to get a wee bit p*ssed off by now with the abysmal service but thought the better of it in a restaurant. So, I asked for check bin as I did not want to patronise the place further.

To top it all the bill had 6 buckets of ice on it. 2 extra buckets :D The cost of the ice at 30 Baht total is not a problem but ... grrrrr.

Needless to say we will not be going back to patronise a place like that again and no, I did not give a tip though I was tempted to give a verbal tip or two on service and standards :D

The thought had occurred to me that the problem might be that my Thai girlfriend was with a Farang but we have been to the place before with no problems until the last two visits and have seen other Farang / Thai couples in there.

We will never know if it was simply incompetence or not. But I am suspicious.

OK, rant over. Newcastle drew 2-2 :D

That happens in 5 star hotels as well :o

  16. For the best quality and convenience you need a camera that uses DV tapes.

HD is fine, but once it is full you need access to a computer to download,

with tape you just slip another one in.

DVD is not to be recommended as the data is compressed as it it written to the DVD,

    loosing some quality.

SD cards are usually just for stills.

    Buy a second battery.

most Video cameras come with 40-60 GB of memory on the hard drive, thats 30-50 hours of shooting.

  17. P.S. I wrote they drive, on average, more than "most other countries". That was not correct, they drive much more than anyone else. Reading actual stats an average American drives more than 16,000 Kms/annum.

UK, Germany, France etc are all around 7,500/8,500 Kms/annum, the closest ones are the Australians at slightly more than 10,000 Kms/annum...

wow, I have driven 32000 Kms in 14 months.
