  1. Two different matters: the 30 euro Insurance is aimed at not weighing on the State "welcoming" the tourist. Hence definitely not a "racist based" move. Most visitors, but not all obviously, hold an insurance of some sort when landing in Thailand. The cost of a treatment when symptoms are mild is in excess ofd a few thousand baht. Furthermore, constitutionally (I hope) , Thai Nationals cannot be refused entry to their country and imposing them to take an insurance would be considered as discriminatory as not everyone can afford an insurance. Now, I understand that some might find some decisions xenophobic as the suppression/suspension of the Pass has nothing to do with holding an insurance as that could simply be required or, even better, if they keep their word, pass the 300 Baht regulation on top of the airfare, aimed at providing an insurance for the travellers. Mind you, I recall my father telling me that my (European) country had decided to tax the highways, to provide a better retirement to the old age 555 This being said, applying for a Pass is totally unjustified as far as Thai citizens are concerned. They should be able to return home whenever they can without having to go through this.
  2. But...the outdoor mask wearing is not compulsory...it has just become a trend. I, personally, jog, exercise and walk outside with my mask at hand, in case I need to enter premises. And even this virus dies down, this habit will not, among the Nationals
  3. Hey I am sure some of us have already experienced it or posted it but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I received an (automatically generated) e mail reminding me that my 90 day report was due, in a fortnight, and I should fill a new TM47 before the specified date. I know, it is a simple action computer wise but, still, a much lesser burden than usual, although I do deem this declaration redundant: this should only be done on case of change of address but, as I wrote, quite happy about the positive evolution of this service. I did the report and it was acknowledged. Waiting for the document to be issued. Let's see how it goes as it is a new passport in which i have transferred the visa and new extension ???? to this service
  4. No you don't.....You get charged when you arrive at a hotel...not when you arrive in Austria .....and this tax is applied to everyone...It pretty works the same in France Italy and Spain Hence you do not get anything in return as it is to maintain the touristic sites
  5. Hum...the real news would have been...Government WILL auction (with a proper date ) ????
  6. Or maybe it is our heritage: calling someone by their ethnicity , skin colour, physical appearance is considered rude, like going to "the Arab" to buy some vegetables, have the walls built by "the Italian" Every generation has had their Jew, their Portuguese, their Spanish, their Moroccan ... and it is not polite, even insultant when referred to in that manner. I still dislike being called a Farang. When one goes to a department store or other places, the staff calls the customers " Clients" not "Mr" not "Madame" nor "Foreigners" and that is how I feel it should be. In the same vein: I used to get upset by the (usually) security guard when they try to get my attention and say "You, You" which is a direct translation of "Khun, Khun" which, in Thai is not offensive. Knowing that is is not meant , I do not really pay attention anymore. Farang feels totally different and I am not ready to get over it
  7. But it would, in the US though A quick , or deeper search shows no sign it is true. Although I am not a US citizen, I do believe it would already be out. Remember what happened to the Dominique Strauss-Kahn in New York in May 2011 albeit the guy one one of the most powerful man in the world as head of the International Monetary Funds (IMF) and considered to be a leading candidate in the 2012 French presidential election....
  8. Definitely not related to the Privy and the 53 year old SUKSAN JULLANAN ,AKA "Bobby" is un for three consecutive lifetime sentences if found guilty....not a small bust.
  9. That is a very clever strategy As a matter of fact this well thought masterplan was there all along, Greeting foreigners, for more than a year, with a wonderful medical plan translating in a nice quarantine at "competitive" prices. Mind you, if one is (was ?) lucky enough to test positive, one is /was entitled to an even more attractive package, Of course let's not forget how trouble free it is to be granted the well coveted pass: not only it will be a great hub but also restricted to a handpicked clientele
  10. I do not grasp the concept of "new normal" Isn't this virus bound to be endemic at worse. Why would anyone change their way of life once that is a fact.? Every generation or so has experienced a deadly wave over the past centuries and this will happen again Things will get back to normal eventually not withstanding the fact that covid is not on everyone's lips anymore ...it has already let the Ukraine event take the first place Life always finds its way
  11. OMG ....they should start reporting the evolution of the flue viruses too... It is an endless non story If it is about contagion, one should try to focus on laughter, its contagiousness and its effect
  12. I do not think the poster meant he drank the 60 beers in one go....hence a further expense might be necessary to get the hangover ????
  13. Kindly act accordingly and swiftly as we are flying out in June....Hope you'll make it in time whereas we hope we'll make it ????
  14. Refer to @sandyfreply who is correct. you seem to forget that some of us have no choice but to travel. this not my case and I chose to travel outside of thailand last year and will do it again in a couple of month whether restrictions are lifted or not albeit going to Europe , for me, does not seem to be big of a problem this time ????
  15. I am confused....Rain and drinking are to be blamed for the accidents or praised for the lucky escape ?
  16. The seasoned traveller will take a test prior to the departure. This fifth day test is a nonsense as the only way to be infected, considering the incubation time is...on the plane and in the country. The correct thing to do is to scrap all tests and replace the arrival RT-PCR test with an ATK as it was done last year by countries like Denmark and Greece, to name a few. If tested positive with no symptoms, then self quarantine. If one has symptoms (that would mean they would have developed during the flight though, as there are still screen monitoring for the temperature at "normal" airports), then care at the local hospital under the insurance coverage and ... the difference, if any, would be absorbed by at the Government as they have (about to) imposed a "health Tax"
  17. Wow...where do you live ? How did you get this idea, I wonder. You are so totally wrong but as you have mentioned : no schooling One thing though, quit reading and try to sell your "under a foreign nam" condo and make an opinion by yourself...you will be, no doubt, reconsidering your statement if not your belief ????
  18. Who cares ???? What matters is the goal, for God Sake...Holidays
  19. Well, they might be wrong, but European countries have stopped this wearing mask nonsense outside (and inside apart from hospital and transport) as well as dropping all requirements for vaccinated travellers. Some countries have even lifted all requirements vaccinated or not
