Why is it the same people who think when a straight person wants to join the military they are doing so out of economic hardship (e.g. the poor inner city kids) or stupidity (e.g. the dumb redneck) but when a gay person wants to join they do so because it's their human right to fight for his/her country (e.g. the enlightened intellectual)?
By the same token - but another thread - why is it the same people who think belief in God is equated to believing in fairy tales but when Muslims want to build a mosque near Ground Zero they have the right to practice their religion where they please?
You're missing the point(s).
Poor inner city gays and redneck gays have as much right to join too.
By the same token, deluded fairy tale believers of whatever denomination have the right to practice their religion wherever they want.
Or don't they?
It's my point so I'm not missing it, I'm making it.
The people I am talking about are not doubting the RIGHT of the poor & uneducated to join the military, they are saying that they are not joining out of free will as much as necessity because their opportunities are limited by their lack of intelligence and economic status. Whereas when gays want to join, they do so out of some sort of more noble reasons and want to exercise their human rights to defend their country.
The two things are disconnected in the context of this debate.
The inner city slum dweller gay can not join as readily as the inner city slum dweller hetero. Why?
He can Join he just cant say I AM GAY

My OP is my take on what I perceive to be happening in the current talks which i concluded from watching news reports on several news channels
I cant believe anyone would see anything different from this based on what is being reported.
During Peace talks you have the people of Israel tooting horns and pouring cement I think my OP of Do Israelis really want peace is a fair one based on these actions can you not understand the reaction of palestinians to actions such as this.

While it is disgusting etc lets look at the other side of this and try to see why some of these guys lose it
I am not nor have been in the Military so i am only saying this from an outside standpoint and I am sure some x military will comment.
We send our young guys and gals into war and expect them to act like normal non military personel, we put them in situations where they are exposed to horrific scenes of mutilation mental anguish torture etc, they see things we will never ever see in our lifetime, they experience there fellow comrades, and friends blown up, and killed, they see body parts death and destruction until they are desensitized to it, but we still hold them to our own set of morals, when we have put them in a position where those morals are not upheld.
The mental anguish they must experience in this type of situation is something NON ONE who has not been in that situation can comment on
It must be extremely hard to handle and will breed hatred for those inflicting it upon them and of course some will need to vent there frustrations and some will lose there mind losing the real reality of life when engulfed in so much death and destruction.
There are obvious loose canons but then again I believe there is a lot of mental damage also inflicted on our troops and when there tour is over they are expected to fit right back into society and sometimes this is just not the reality of it.
We don't do enough for our troops when they leave the war zone to help them handle what they have experienced

Puzzled and confused as ever.
Are we saying that SKing is a sponsor? In process?
Never mind. I found the web site.
Cannot tell for sure if a customer can go to the place and buy - say a kilo of meatloaf and other fzn dinners. Gather so from remarks, but this is not suggested on their web.
However, there are two addresses - and the site's hours, which are in reference to deliveries, and they jump about.
So, FINALLY, I arrive: Where do I go to buy (aside from Rimping) and when? Google maps helps, but with two addy's and unclear hours....
Thanks in advance for those who have been there.
You can go to his place to buy but its in San Sai out of town and not so easy to find, so he focus's on DELIVERY of his productsinto Chiang mai and also using Meals on Wheels if you don't want to buy from the supermarket just call the number and order and it can be delivered right to you.
Not sure if he has a place in town that you can go to other than the Supermarkets

the TRUTH of the mater clear and simple is the talks are being overshadowed by the Israelis lack of commitment SIMPLE AS THAT and any attempt to distract from that is exactly that a Distraction away from the truth
Do you have any outside data that will support your version of the 'TRUTH'? Making claims that you speak only the truth while not bothering to support it are questionable, to say the least.
While the problem may seem simple to you, it is far more complicated than you can imagine.
I understand that however my point is clear the Israelis headed into Peace talks knowing that if they don't extend the moratorium its going to put a damper on the talks and decrase the likelyhood of any chance of success.
Are you supporting the continued building by jews on proposed Palestinian Land ????
What I support or do not support has no bearing on the discussion.
Why not simply provide the source of your opening statement so we can find out exactly who is behind it?
Turn on any TV flip to ANY news channel and watch

In blame game, arrow tilts to Abbas
Mahmoud Abbas is now feeling some of the heat reserved last year for Netanyahu.
By BEN SMITH | 9/27/10 6:55 PM EDT
Israelis and Palestinians have yet to achieve any substantive progress in the nascent peace talks that resulted from President Barack Obama's high-profile push for negotiations, but a subtle shift in the political balance between the two antagonists seems clear: Israel is now winning the blame game.
The blame game always proceeds on a parallel, subterranean track to actual negotiations, the cynical mirror of the process's insistent optimism. Some prominent figures on both sides barely disguise their assumption that peace talks will fail, as they almost always do.
Even those who are committed to the prospect of peace and publicly optimistic about it are cautious enough to keep an eye on the possibility of failure, ready with a pointed finger if talks collapse so that the other side is left with what former Secretary of State James Baker once referred to as the "dead cat" of prospective blame.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has "managed to leave the dead cat at the doorstep of both the Obama Administration and [Palestinian Authority President] Mahmoud Abbas," said Aaron David Miller, a former U.S. peace negotiator who is a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
Last summer, Israel owned the dead cat. Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made plain their view that Netanyahu's failure to stop all settlement construction on the West Bank was the obstacle to resumed talks, and after an ill-timed construction announcement, Clinton's office released details of the unusual 43-minute tongue-lashing she delivered to the Israeli.
Obama then brought Netanyahu and Abbas to the White House early this month with the exhortation to begin direct talks. Looming over the celebratory announcement that they would was the impending expiration of Israel's moratorium on new settlement construction.
Now that the moratorium has expired, the Obama administration has completed a subtle tilt toward Israel's point of view. The problem is no longer Israel's actions: It's the Palestinian insistence that one issue – settlements – be resolved before talks can begin.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is now feeling some of the heat reserved last year for Netanyahu, and facing the prospect that if he fulfills his promise to withdraw from talks, he will bear the full blame for their collapse.
"The onus is on the Palestinians not to walk away. That's not fair but it's the way it is," said Hussein Ibish, a fellow at the American Task Force on Palestine, which backs the talks. "There are people on both sides who have no confidence [in the peace process] and so the name of the game is who gets blamed. Which is why the Palestinian can say a million times that they'll walk out — but they can't."
The shift is the subject of quiet self-congratulations among hawkish Israelis and their American allies. After the difficult start of his relationship with Obama and his humiliation at the hands of Clinton's, Netanyahu sought to give Obama one thing he wanted: An absolute promise to being peace talks.
Not suprising
the TRUTH of the mater clear and simple is the talks are being overshadowed by the Israelis lack of commitment SIMPLE AS THAT and any attempt to distract from that is exactly that a Distraction away from the truth

Well the peace talks are being over shadowed by the refusal of Netanyahu to extend the Moratorium on jewish settlements in the West Bank
If the Israelis REALLY wanted peace would it not be a normal action to extend this Moratorium during these important Talks especially when they are building settlements on land that is considered part of a proposed palestinian state.
It seems unfathomable that they would not continue this moratorium while trying to talk peace.
At the same time they are doing this they are encouraging the Palestinians to continue with the talks even while at the same time they are slapping them in the face and disrespecting them by not extending this Moratorium and expecting them to be ok with it.
They should back out of the talks and when they do they will be the ones blamed for not wanting peace
Pure Hypocricy and another example of Israels lack of commitment to peace

A bunch of farangs got busted for working without a work permit in Chiang Mai about 12 years ago. Those that paid a big "fine" were allowed to continue doing so and those that refused were locked in the immigration jail for months and then shipped home with a banned stamp in their passport.
I see loads of bar owners behind there bars working happily away when its obvious they don't have a permit to do, the reason they can do it is there is no enforcement so they are not scared of the BIB at the moment but like many issues one day the BIB will have a crackdown for a day and many will be heading home or will be incarcerated with a big fine pending release.

Actually, FC, I do not see Harcourt calling YOU a bigot. If you think he is calling you a bigot that is your choice, what I do see is him calling a group of people with a certain belief system bigots.
So, lets drop the baiting and have a civil discussion thanks.
Come on SBK that was not a baiting post it was posted in a good way and NO malicious intent and I was not insulted in any way and in no way was baiting Harcourt
Sometimes I guess posts come over the opposite as intended

More practically speaking according to wiki the US military has lost over 13,000 troops discharged under the DADT regulations since 1994. That's a lot of expensively trained personnel to lose because you think they might be sneaking a peek at your willie.
In the UK we lost one Brigadier who resigned when homosexuals were allowed to serve openly in the UK armed forces but otherwise it appears to have been a non-event. All the three forces have recruiting drives at gay pride events. Same sex couples who enter a civil partnership have the same pension and housing rights as straight couples. The Navy and the Army have both conducted civil partnerships ceremonies on ships and in barracks.
'Speaking at a conference sponsored by the gay advocacy group Stonewall in 2006, Vice Admiral Adrian Johns, the Second Sea Lord, said that homosexuals had always served in the military but in the past had had to do it secretly. "That's an unhealthy way to be, to try and keep a secret life in the armed services," said Vice Admiral Johns, who as the Royal Navy's principal personnel officer was responsible for about 39,000 sailors. His speech was titled "Reaping the Rewards of a Gay-Friendly Workplace." '
It works in the UK, it works in Israel.
As for the 13,000 expelled well that is such a tiny fraction of the number of troops is it even worth speaking about, it also shows just how small of a minority we are speaking about here. You also don't know what these guys were expelled for, was it just because they were Gay or were they engaging in willie peeking in the showers, we just don't know, either way the US Military deemed it appropiate to bin them and kick them out.
I wonder just how many Homosexuals are in the US Military at the moment I bet its a tiny tiny percentage and another example of having it shoved down your throat.
As for the UK you have to watch your mouth there and do not enjoy the freedom of speech as in America
You forgot to mention in the UK you do not have the right to Free speech and are not allowed to speak out against it cause you will be arrested for it and charged with Hate crimes all that is, is suppression.

Hmmmmm now in 2 posts Harcourt has called me a BIGOT, Narrow Minded and Poorly Educated
all because I find it uncomfortable if I had to shower with a bunch of homosexuals Im actually in Koheestis corner on this one.The bigoted Majority as you call it should prevail in a democratic society instead of the minority trying to shove it down the bigoted majoritys throat every minute and expecting everyone to be ok with it and then ostrosizing and calling them names when they are not.
As I have said before I am NOT against gay people they are welcome to do what they want, my objection comes when that lifestyle is shoved down everyone elses throat and expecting them to accept it as a natural way of life which for them it is however for someone who is deeply religious or even someone that just believes that the lifestyle is not natural and wrong they have just the same right.
A good example is Gays wanting to get married look at that in the US, it was voted down by the people then the courts take over and repeal it only to have the controversy start all over again, the people have voted and spoken but they dont want to listen and it continually gets shoved down there throats until they will have to accept it on the outside but the truth will be they disagree with it on the inside.
It is exactly what Kooesi said reverse bigotry.

A company beginning with the letter D make cheese here in CM....
really not worth buying though imho, as it has almost no
taste/flavour, even the goat cheese is unbearably bland UNLESS
you bake it on a pizza, then there is a hint of goat about it...
maybe this has to do with the milk quality here in CM?
David
oh good we've got a new game top play, guess the cheese shop. my guess is dacheeso. whats the prize?
He is lying
thats not cheese

If I am correct from reading another post this enquirery is about milk and not beef. If you want a supplier of cheap fresh milk (not pasturized) then go to the Chiang Mai university agriculture department. If I remember they sell 1 liter for 25 baht. They may reduce that cost if purchasing large orders.
If you are going to make cheese, I would recommend taking a cheese making course from a professional. There are too many people trying to make cheese without the proper technique and it can be fatal. Botulism is nothing to take lightly. But since you are a professional butcher and probably make salamis and other dry cured products you know the risks.
good luck
If it is for beef, then sorry to waste your time.
thank you for you reply and like making sausage and bacon we manufacture in a professional way as not to have things like botulism and all our food products have to go to be lab tested for the FDA which we hold certificate for and we have our own team who are specialist in cheese making and we need only raw ingredients and milk is one of the products we need. i have been to the agriculture department at the majo university and this is ok but they cant supply my company in the long term. i was not aware that there was an other agriculture dept at chiang mai university ?? but thanks for you reply and we will offer you a piece of our cheese to try first when made. i think it will do you more good than harm. Rob.
good idea and if you survive it I'm up for a couple of kilos

When I was a young man I used to go to a Jewish steam bath. It was older than the hills mostly done in marble in the steam area. They had the best corned beef sandwiches with real Kosher dill pickles in town. No body there was gay. If you wanted a wash you laid down on a large marble slab and another guy would slosh you with a giant sponge the size of two basketballs then somebody else would throw a couple of buckets of water over you. In the main steam bath area there were always 20 plus guys. It was a great cure for a hangover. Sweat out the booze and then have a corned beef sandwich to put the salt back in. I went there almost once a week.
I get kind of tired of the poofs and the anti poofs venting their spleens at the gay stuff and someone getting upset about someone looking at their dick.
When I was in the army the chaplain's assistant and the medic were gay so I don’t know about their performance in combat as the chaplains assistant or the medic never went into combat. They did however, do night guard duty and would pull your shift too for a bit on the side. The medic was OK but the chaplains assistant wanted a hug afterwards which freaked me out a bit.
You work all day long from 5 AM till 5 PM and then have to stay awake at night watching for sneaky sappers trying to blow up things. That’s a long day. The medic would give you bennies but they have a nasty side effect as those with experience realize.
Well if you find being rubbed down by another guy with a big sponge a good time then good on ya but that aint my kind of a good time, my X wife gave me a birthday present of a massage by a gay guy and Im sorry I aint up for it so i refused, now incase you think its just gay guys she also gave me a present of a massage by a small horrific looking mingin goat and I refused that also, now if she had given me a massage by a smokin hot girl, ok thats another story.
I aint up for a guy rubbin his hands all over me Gay or not

While I applaud your desire to go into the cheese business and wish you all the best of luck. I would likt to suggest that you do a little study on cheese and the cows they come from....... I see you are looking for beef cattle farms in CM. Could I be so bold as to suggest, politely. that if you are going into the cheese business, wouldn't "Dairy Cows " be a better source ???
yes we have found some dairy cow at majo uni project but looking a well established farm and we are doing our home work. wow i writing in small case now ha haYeah but now you screwed up your QUOTES LOL
We wont be too hard on you you will get it in the end
-
Only a loon would do that.

Sounds like you're calling FC a loon.....

I thought name calling was especially frowned upon in OTB these days?
Israel should definitely be put on the list "rogue nations"....perhaps even head it.
So in your world Mr. HC, Israel would 'head' the list that includes North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Burma, etc.? Interesting. I can hardly wait for you to enlighten us with more of your pearls of wisdom.
I would have to say with the exception of a couple on your list Israel is way worse than most you have listed and they have commited atrocities in line or worse than those on your list but since they are backed by the most poweful nation on earth they are not held accountable for there actions unlike those on your list.

THE REASON FOR LOOKING FOR THAI COW IS WE ARE THINKING OF MAKING CHEESEI have one of his steak and onion pies. After I try I'll put my 3 satang in on it.
Kind makes me wounder why he is looking for Thai beef farms.
Thai cheese?
This could be interesting.
Well cheese is easy to make and I am surprised no one has been able to make a decent cheese in thialand lets face it I love cheese and its expensive here so if someone made a decent local cheese i would be a buyer for sure paying 200 baht a time for a little block is ridic but i love cheese so gotta do it.
but your right that would be a challenge here
Do The Israelis Really Want Peace
in The Lounge
Just maybe they gave Israel the credit that they would not be so stupid as not to extend the Moratorium which would of been the right thing to do.
