He told me this morning that he just got the right equipment for making them and will do so soon. I think that he just forgot to write an answer while answering all the other questions. :wai:

    GREAT news

Looks like a cow paddy to me. Delicious? :ermm:

toasted and dripping with real BUTTER they are fantastic and I would be good for a weekly supply

    Crumpets worth waking up for.

    156g all-purpose flour

    2 tbsp powdered milk

    1 tsp instant yeast

    1/2 tsp sugar

    1/2 tsp salt

7 oz water, at room temperature (reserve 2 tbsp of this)

    1/4 tsp baking soda

1 tsp butter (clarified, if you have it)

Combine the flour, dry mllk, yeast, sugar and salt. Add the water, less the 2 tablespoons, and beat first slowly, then at medium speed, until completely smooth. Let the batter sit, undisturbed and covered, until it doubles. About an hour should do the trick.

Mix the baking soda with the rest of the water, and stir into the batter. The batter will deflate, then double again. This should take half an hour. The batter will be filled with bubbles.

Butter the crumpet rings (RLB says tuna cans with the tops and bottoms cut off also work), then heat a cast iron pan, and lightly butter it. Set the rings in the pan, and fill the rings about two-thirds full with batter. Cook for about 10 minutes, or until the crumpets have lost their shine. The bottoms should be nicely browned. Remove the rings, and flip.

Cool on a rack. Toast before serving.

Because these freeze well, I highly recommend doubling the recipe.

Not my recipe and I cant cook so have to hope one day we get another sort of crumpet in Chiang Mai :D

  3. Good news for you! We are scheduled to go on it when they do their next update. Below is a tentative list of what we will offer. Most of our baked goods are listed here with the exception of products that either can't survive the heat, or if they do, you might not survive eating them. In the latter case I'm referring to baked goods that contain custards which have egg in them. Most of our cakes with icing are in the former category.

If there's anything else you might like, let us know. We are considering shipping the blintzes frozen.

When I copied my excel table into thaivisa all the formatting got lost. The numbers are the prices in Baht.

  4. Well all...this is the moment when you get to laugh out loud ... because im an idiot. Im ashamed to admit....that..i didnt notice..that..it was just that my tire was punctured..

Its only until i read this thread that I thought to check the tire!

So this morning I went to a regular garage to fill with air..but went down again..so went along to get the tire fixed at the Yamaha garage.

..i thank you all so very much for saving my face because i most likely would have walked into the Yamaha dealer stating i had some problem with my steering. Im sure they would have been laughing for at least a week on that one.

So, i was able to walk into the Yamaha garage and explain about my tire problem and have them fix it. 120 baht. My steering is fine again...duh.

Oh Gawd.. the humiliation...especially after you all took the time to explain what could be the problem. ...I'll go sit in the dunce corner for the rest of the day.

(Edit: However, if anything else does go wrong steering-wise..at least ill know where to check for info :D)

So thats how to get to be a Moderator on TV  wondered why I was never offered the job

  5. ... anything less than a 385,000 baht policy I would be ahead of the game

I always was thinking an insurance with only 500'000 Baht is too less.. Till now i always was thinking for an insurance of 1 or 2 million Baht.

But with an insurance for only 500'000 Baht you could safe a lot of money.

For example Swissinsurance with will be around 500$ per year (35'000 Baht)

I think 1 Million is min needed, I had a friend admitted into hospital a few days after my bike accident he had a bike accident too he was in an induced coma for 3 weeks in ICU his bill after coming out after 5-6 weeks was 1.1 Million so it depends but I think 1 Million should cover most bad accidents.

  6. Heybruce, where in Thailand are you?

As far as I am aware there is not a two tier pricing system in Thai hospitals, it is just that Westerners are more likely to use the more expensive hospitals and therefore require a higher level of insurance than most Thais. You need to take this into account. Bumungrad, Bangkok Hospital and it's various offshoots are very expensive and should therefore be avoided if you choose the lower end of cover. At the same time you don't want to go to the local 30 baht hospital either.

The room cost is potentially one of the least important parts of the policy. If you have a 3,000 baht room with a 2,000 baht limit you can just pay the difference. Look at the rest of the policy to ensure you have adequate limits for surgery in the event of a serious illness. You'll also find the cost of medication extortionate as this is where the hospitals make a large proportion of their profit.

There are many options available and a good broker should offer you a number of products and recommend the best for your particular requirements. Discounts are often available for outpatient exclusions, geographical limitations and if you are prepared to carry a deductible/excess.

LMG and BUPA have the better lower end products.

i think that is arse about face

My bill at CM Ram after a motorcycle accident was 385,000 baht and only 80,000 of that was for the surgery most of it was for the hospital costs room was 2900 baht a night (3 week stay) I had an 8 hour operation with 2 surgeons and an aenetisiologist i was amazed that they got so little for the surgery.

I wish I had had insurance LOL :D anything less than a 385,000 baht policy I would be ahead of the game

  7. Agree thai tv censorship is a bit weird, smokes guns etc all blurred out including a good boob, yet as you say on thai soaps guns galore and the odd machete.Still nothing is perfect,i like the fact that without understanding a word of what is said on the soaps i know exactly whats going on.

You actually admit to watching that S$#@T WOW

Its banned in my house except on the special TV I have provided at the other side of the house where I cant hear it

Its not the actual content its that they are all screaming at each other at the top of the voices for the whole show and all the familly is glued to it like its the world cup final

Stabbings, shooting. beatings, all ok on a thai soap opera

but they love their soaps,i think they are a hoot.

  9. I dont know whats wrong with them

The direct quote from the Thai movie maker about the Thai government censors

He won the leaf award and is going to be interviewed on talk Asia and CNN about his movie award, CNN is using the clip of him saying the above quote which is very accurate when you think about it

Stupid blurring out of guns cigarettes etc but totally blantant to see on thai soap operas to name just a few stupid censorships

  10. When people get low class uneducated wives, crap like this kind of comes with it. Don't think you can do much about it, other than make better partner choices.

Who are you to make judgements like that ? Kwai by name Kwai by nature by the looks of it

  11. Im not sure if the Thai powers that be know what democracy really means heres a bit if a heads up feel free to add to the list

    FREEDOM OF POLITICAL EXPRESSION

    Freedom of speech

    Freedom of the Press

all citizens being equal before the law and having equal access to power.

    Rule By the PEOPLE

Thailand has a Loooooooong way to go to be anywhere near a democracy

  12. One of the managers where I work was telling me about something similar last week. He has three maine coon cats and one of them turned murderer, killing two kittens by biting them on the neck. He said the cat that did the killing was a tom, and he has been booted out of the house temporarily as he does not want the remaining kitten to become another victim.

I assume he was not the Father of the Kittens ???? does he own 2 females and the one Tom ?? more info would be good although males have also been known to kill there own offspring too

  13. Thanks, eek.

The kitten was cuddled-up with mum 5 minutes before this event, under the kitchen display cabinet & totally safe - except from this male cat, evidently.

I retrieved the kitten about 50 feet from the kitchen, in the garden. She'd been carried away by her back leg rather than scruff of the neck as mum would carry her. There were puncture wounds from teeth on her back leg & hips. Kitten seems OK but I'm sure her back leg hurts because she isn't moving it much at the moment.

No, I don't think the male cat was being altruistic!!

Like you, I don't want to believe kittens are harmed by other cats, although I was willing to believe it of a dog. But maybe a dark side of cats' nature is showing itself here.

Since it did not kill it on the spot it could also be taking it away to eat it depending on how hungry it wa, you have to remeber the male was a wild feral cat that has instincts just like Lions do

  14. Im no cat specialist, but ive had cats most of my life plus several books ive read about them..and ive never heard of this kind of thing. However, i have fairly limited experience of feral cats behaviour around kittens.

Are you quite sure you got the picture straight? Just wonder if possibly the male cat was removing the kitten from danger?? Im clutching at straws here because i dont want to consider that an adult cat is deliberately harming kittens. :(

wild cats in this case feral will revert back to there wild natural behaviour and that includes males killing others offspring when a new dominant male moves into an area it is a natural behaviour but of course you dont see it because you have no way to see the life of the feral cat. you can read more in the link below

  15. we got SWATs in Pattaya, deal?....still on the Sukhumvit Rd :D

When you SWATs, you wouldnt by chance be referring to the tourist police would you? :D

I reckon if the big guy OP (AKA SAS) were to approach the tourist police for polite conversation they would punch him in the nose and he would run off crying to his mummy

SAS, SWAT, TOURIST POLICE...its a bit hard to tell who are the biggest to$ers:P

    SIGGGHHHHHH:rolleyes:

  16. Let me tell you a bit of history with Pop's motorcycle...

A few years ago, while eating my breakfast in town, I ran into this Japanese kid...He had been busted for HEROIN at his guesthouse. A local cop on an inspection found some HEROIN hidden on his bike.

He had been told by the cop that he had one day to get 100,000 baht to stay out of jail. He went to Pop's and told then the story, to which they replied, on a hidden tape recorder, "Yes, of course we know about it, that cop works for us. Have you got the 100,000 baht yet? If you want to stay out of jail, pay the 100,000 baht" I don't know what happened after that, but I did listen to the tape he had recorded..

MAYBE they don't do it anymore, but maybe they do...

If you want to be safe, let me suggest that you never do business with them again. :)

    Yes.

I know of one rental where the bike was stolen the day before departure.

The bike had been on long term rent with the same guy for a few months, careful guy and no previous problems.

50,000 to get the passport back.

Could be coincidence but I doubt it.

Seems like a pattern is emerging

Well my mate got locked up nothing to do with drugs but something just as suspicious his bike just happened to be stolen under very suspicious circmstances and my mate thought it was them they wanted the full price of the bike to avoid jail which he did not pay and was in jail they kept his passport which eventually got him out of jail as the police for some reason let him go as it was on a day pop was closed and they could not get his passport so let him go and he was just that gone too when he was let out.

he never got his passport back

The reason I never said this story was because it could of been a 1 off but now LJW has posted another dodgy story i thougt I would post this one.
