  1. Something strange here, I brew my own and leave it to mature for at least 8 weeks, it gets better. True, as it gets better I tend to drink more, hence the hangover.

    8 weeks!!!!

You've never been in Saudi have you!

Home brew there was meant to be 10 days 'matured' before drinking but sometimes you just had to sample it at 7 days and then suddenly it was gone before 10 days was up!

  2. As a single guy I used to frequent the old Greggs and the meals were always good.

Since acquiring a wife and kid the old location and new have been difficult to access because of the lack of parking but it's good to hear that it's still good after 18 years.

  3. I wash my motorbike and the hire car myself out the front of our house. I probably do this once a week when we are in Pattaya. It embarrasses the wife and she tells me that the neighbours think I am poor because I can't afford to pay someone to clean them.

You should do what I do then.

Have the missus wash the car.

  4. Makro in Pattaya used to stock it as I used to buy it then it disappeared

Yes, I used to buy it at Makro in Nakon Sawan but it disappeared when the floods came last year.crying.gif

    Swam away?

They had it in Pattaya Makro a couple of weeks ago when I was last there. I remember seeing it. Frozen Atlantic Cod.

You can get cod and chips in Jamesons.

  5. The parking lot at Preecha is normally very full so that is one way to recognize it....arrive before 7pm as they get big crowds there and alot of the items sell out later in the evening

That's primarily Friday and Saturday nights. Though Sunday night can also be busy. During the week, it's perfect. Especially right at sunset time.

    Food's great and reasonable.

If you want a bit classier place, try Rimpa Lapin. Beautiful setting, just down the road from Preecha. More expensive, but very beautiful:

After years of going to the seafood restaurant on the beach at Bang Saray we went to Preecha and ordered the same sort of seafoods and they weren't as nice at all.

Maybe Preecha has other specialities that are worth trying as we find some dishes in Bang Saray that are not as good as Rom Son in Ban Chang.

Rimpa Lapin has great views but the food is not great.

(have never remembered the name of the restaurant in Bang Saray, it's either Rim Had or Rim Talay, the place opposite the big new villas they built there)

  6. I'm the "other" choice in your poll.

The best Mexican food in the Pattaya area is BEAVER BAR on BANG CHANG's strip. It is owned by a long time friend of mine from the Rio Grande valley in Texas and the enchiladas are beyond belief.

He also serves great Yank food such as chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy, hamburger steak, etc.

Don't be afraid to go there with family as he has an outdoor table for four. I have no financial interest in the bar. The food will speak for itself.

This is the worst, over priced stuff(i wont call it food) in s.e. Asia, how can you burn french fries and make them soggy at the same time?very small portion of enchilads? and burnt soggy fries 280 baht, disgusting!

I had the enchilada in there last night and it was a full plate size and very filling, not small at all.

Very tasty too. My only complaint would be too much cheese.

  7. Are you guys talking about California Wow in Pattaya? Was it closed today?

Just checked and the phone 038 399999 is off again. This is exactly 2 weeks since they last closed.

As I said in my previous post electricity etc is due by middle of each month and as I said in the previous post it would be shut again by then.

The AVE already has someone wanting that space and I guess in their meeting in Bangkok Head Office on Wednesday they decided enough is enough.

    You and me both.

    WOW!!!

Great news, crisis over for the time being smile.png

Until June's electricity bill is overdue for payment anyway.

  8. The place I lived in Manila was safe. It had guards armed with shotguns on the doors and if you came to visit the guards would radio reception to 'phone up the flat to check if you wanted to see the visitor.

It always bothers me when I see armed guards standing watch outside a Jollibee's, shopping mall, bank, ATM, etc. It's not me physically seeing them on the job, but more for the reason they are there in the first place.

And the Jollibees have a sign up saying "Please check your guns and knives" !!

  9. You won't find any Vietnamese eating in there though, not a second time anyway.

If that is true, it would most likely be related to price. I'm sure they pay big rent up there so you wouldn't expect the food to be cheap, would you? I've heard from a resident in the building that the food is good.

    A Vietnamese resident?

It's related to the taste of the food, being Thaiised Vietnamese rather than Vietnamese.

  10. There are plenty of Vietnamese living in Pattaya. Obviously you won't notice them because they look the same as Thais. I know of one US expat living with his Vietnamese girl in Jomtien.

There's a prominent Vietnamese restaurant on floor 23 of Pattaya Hill Resort, Soi 2 Pratumnak Road called Le Saigon Restaurant. I haven't eaten there but it's been there for a long time.

You won't find any Vietnamese eating in there though, not a second time anyway.

  11. due to the fact at present we don't have enough of our new HD boxes go to our paying custoners let alone new customers". He then asked another guy at the counter who said we will most likely have to wait 2 to 3 months before a box will become available!

I find it really hard to believe they would switch off the system, when paying customers dont have boxes, and not have enough to give out.

I mean the uproar of the customer base who are told through no fault of their own "sorry no TV for a couple of months" would be huge.

Thats not to say they wont switch over, now or later, but just that they HAVE to have boxes on hand surely.

Or maybe some big boss in TrueVisions has given a drop dead date of 15 July and it would be a big loss of face if it didn't happen?

  12. I wouldn't believe everything this guys says, he was trying to "promote" his maigetv service on this thread as well:

    http://www.thaivisa....e/#entry5457361

    Just pay to be sponsor.

In that thread he explains it more clearly, the 60 HD + 290 SD channels are the combination of English AND Chinese channels.

For now I'll be experimenting with re-aligning my dish to point at the Astro satelitte when the signal goes off before committing to buy another service.

  13. If ASUS fit the RAM, then it should not affect the Warranty. But 2GB RAM should be adequate. Perhaps you have other rubbish installed. Also look in to how Windows 7 Ultimate has been activated on the ASUS(if you didn't actually pay for a licence). You should learn how to do these things for yourself, to prevent others from loading crap on to your machines.

    How do I do that?

I've been gradually removing some of the generic crap that's been installed.

Same feeling I have coming from England and going to Europe or USA and seeing armed police on the streets, in some places with machine guns. But I hear it's a common sight in England as well now and remember seeing machine gun toting cops at Heathrow.

  15. AA on-line and kiosk check-in need not have boarding pass endorsed at counter...but for international flights need endorsement..

That's because it's the airline's responsibility to check that a passenger has the correct travel documents (visa, passport validity) for the country of arrival and they will be subject to a hefty fine if someone turns up and is not allowed into the destination country, as well as having to transport them back again.
