If I were in my home country right now, and mulling a trip to Thailand, one of the things I'd be weighing, apart from all the other issues, is the prospect that after arriving in Thailand and having my "vacation," I might well find that my home country at some point in the future is unwilling to allow my return unless being subjected to a two-week quarantine or something like that because of having come from Thailand....
Spot on. I fully agree.
Everything is now completely irrational here, not only in Thailand but in most of Asian countries.
I am in Japan and supposed, on my way back, to have a 14 day quarantine as well as my kids currently in Thailand. Even some of my co workers start to tell me that.
So, even if I personally think that you're quite safe to come here, much more than if you rent a motorbike, your government may decide all of a sudden to put you on quarantine on your way back.

I am not a teacher, I am a parent.
I am not saying this is not a good directive. What I am saying is the madhouse is requesting Thais and Farangs travelling to these 6 countries to go on quarantine AT THE SAME TIME they're (TAT and others) encouraging Nationals from these countries to come to Thailand !

Wow.
Does that include people that only transferred through airports in those countries?
I live in Thailand with my family.
So it seems that they include everyone (including Thai according to the Ministry directive) travelling in one of these countries and coming back in Thailand.

Actually, I received this order by an email from my kids' international school saying :
This afternoon, the Ministry of Education has issued a directive to all schools in Thailand regarding COVID-19. The directive states that any families who have been to China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore or Japan must place themselves in 14 days of voluntary quarantine from their date of return to Thailand.I am the only one to be away and coming back this week but still :
If your child has not travelled to these areas, but a close family member has, they should also be included in the quarantine
And at the same time, they still encourage Chinese, Japanese and others to visit Thailand.
This place is a mad house !

Interesting topic.
One question: can you apply from your own country ...or do you need to do it when in Thailand (and if so, can you do it with a tourist visa)?
Thanks

I saw a recent list of the countries best prepared to deal with this and surprisingly Thailand ranked fifth in the world and first of the asian countries.
Ranked 5th... based on the General claims that “it’s 100% under control “ !

Come on ! I am sure you can still improve to beat Libya and become # 1.
On the pollution rank, I am very disappointed. Bangkok ranks # 14 today, down from # 8 yesterday.
I am sure the generals won't be happy .

Monopoly cannot be good and already Grab does not notify me with as many promos as before. I can’t wait to see another provider coming up.

I have a friend who after being in an hospital in Chiang Rai has just been transferred to Bangkok at Rajavithi, which is, from my understanding, a good hospital.
However, since it is not her registered hospital, she will have to pay and is an in-patient. She is afraid that if the staff see her with a farang, they may increase her fees.
True or not.
Thanks for your experiences on this and advices.
