  1. Hello again,

got down to the nitty gritty today with a toyota dealer on sukhumvit but i still dont know the difference between the Vios 1.5E/A and the 1.5 ES/A

one is 584 000 and the other is 609 000 baht

got a price of 588 000 in the end with a few extras.

What do you think, should i put down 5000 baht deposit?

What has been your experience on the deals you have had with the new Vios?

    Cheers

  2. I am just negotiating a deal for a Black Vios E model, here is the deal so far FREE:

    1. Hi Kool tints

    2. Mats

    3. Chrome fog lamps

    4. Corner sensors

    5. Luggage tray

    6. Body polish

    7. Extra under seal

    8. Discount on parts 15%

    9. Remote locking with alarm and immobiliser

    10. Registration plate surrounds

And the usual 3 year/100km warranty

The price = 620 000 as i provide my own insurance (no insurnace as i am just paying it all at once). If you take finance you get insurnace worth about 18000 baht class 1 but as mentioned before you must pay more to get more cover if the worst happens.

  3. Yes I will buy the Suzuki Hayate on Saturday, will pay 49000 baht for it including MAG wheels with free 325baht lock and looks like a free 100 baht helmet.

I wil will get it frim MItyon Pattaya.

I tried the airblade and Nuovo and found that the Suzuki was the best for power and storage.

Found it impossible to get any discount, my friend bought 8 of them and i am paying the same price!

    Unbelievable

    Regards

  4. Black colour seems popular but it evena coating of light dust makes it look dirty. Might get a bit hotter too inside when it's parked. When its clean and waxed it looks great though.

Silver and gold are always popular and easy to sell at the end of the day, and you dont have to wash it everyday to keep it looking presentable. Definately get some dark tint (if its not been tinted yet) to help it keep cooler (at night you vision is a bit lower though and you have to get used to that).

OK thanks for that, I must admit I do keep my cars very clean (I will apply a special treatment myself) and I am not too bothered about resale. I will get some tints but don't know yet which colour tint to go for. I will have to have a look around to see which looks appropriate with the body colour.

    Thanks

    Regards

I got black tint on a dark grey car, it looks cool:) Black on black might be too much though. Black on a white car is nice also. I've heard that the metallic style tints might be illegal (actually too dark is illegal but police don;t seem that bothered by it) so check on that. I also got a sunstripe across the front of the windscreen, that helps with the sun too.

Arh right good thanks, and a sunstrip, good idea I will do that.

    Cheers

  6. Paid 639 K. Discount? I dunno.... have to ask Ms. Bino. She did all the talking! I'm believing that is the list price for an airbag equipped E model, but she got a ton of other stuff out of them.

Extras... she got them to install the front fog lights from the "G" model, a year of insurance, floor mats, window "vent trim" over the arches, good quality window tint film, a (crappy) Thai music CD for the CD player, and a complete photocopy of the english version of the owners guide and warranty book for me.

They even gave us a coffee cup with a digital picture of us picking up the car printed on it when we went for the first service.

Fantastic, looks like I will go for the same model. I will also try and get the S limited package and an alarm and parking sensors.

    I can only try.

Now all I have to do is try and decide on a colour. Hmmm. Fancy the black with a light interior. What do you think?

    Regards

  7. We just bought an E model....

In addition to what you have mentioned, the E has a "body side molding" strip on the doors to prevent door dings in parking lots, and the E also has remote locking / unlocking. We paid extra for the airbags- but I don't think they are available at all on the J model.

Do a google search for the Toyota Singapore website. They sell the same car (since it is assembled here) and the site is in English.

    Lovely thanks for that.

How much did you pay for it?

Did you get anymore options free and/or discount?

    Regards

  8. Hello

Does anyone know the difference between the J and the E model Vios?

All i can spot is that the indicators are in the wing mirrors(the same athe G model), wheel trims instead of 5 star aloys, and a choice of interior colours and fabrics.

    Anything else?

I am unable to read Thai in the brochure.

    Thanks in advance

Would love to see some pictures if anyone has any of these models.

    Regards

  9. Bail Bond will be part of the the 1st class insurance.

The value will be spelt out in the policy (50K baht in mine)

    Astral

The 50k you mentioned for your Bailbond is not enough (this is how many companies try and 'cheapen' the products/premiums.

Everyone - please look (usually) bottom right of your policy and check there is a figure of at least 200k for the Bailbond.

What do we do if it doesnt say 200k Baht?

    Regards

  10. Norman - NO ONE HERE IN CM KNOWS - ANYTHING.

I was following these news clippings/reports about the new Altis from back in July.

Just the last few days, I called/stopped in to two Toyota dealers and they couldn't tell me anything, they said maybe in May. I also got wind of a auto show in CM 1-10 Dec 07, but cannot find anyone to confirm this either. I checked with one Honda dealer, and both Toyota dealers, I figure by now they should know if they will be showing their cars and WHERE? You guessed it, even the sales manager at Honda didn't know anything about it. So, now I'm thinking the article in The Nation was wrong.

I even called the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce - they are not aware of it either.

The Thailand Toyota website is USELESS. I was able at least to find their email address. The reply I got was "sorry, no information at this time", "keep advised by the mass media". Wow, torked me off or what. I fired a message back asking them - well, who is suppose to tell the mass media - God.

I'm ranting right now, but try searching and searching, and you will come up nowhere.

I'm also waiting for the new Honda Accord to come out. I was told that it should be available to view in Chiang Mai by 22 Dec. I may be going to the Bangkok auto expo which is held 28 Nov - 10 Dec. I was planning on it until I heard about the possible CM auto show. But now, doesn't look as if that will materialize.

If you can find any info, please pass it on and I'll do the same.

    Wow OK thanks for that.

    Yes will do.

    All the best.

  11. As a poor English teacher, i would love to see the Vios with a diesel 1.5 engine like the one in the Yaris. Or similar sized cars with a diesel and auto box. Look at the VW Passat 1.9TDI Auto, it is so expensive, even for a 2003 model year.

We can all wish for a small affordable diesel auto saloon and 60mpg +.

    Regards

I would love to be able to buy a small car like the Peugeot 206 1,4HDi here in Thailand.

City driving: 18,5 km per liter

Outside city driving: 27 km per liter

Mixed driving: 23,3 km per liter

Ok, it is not the fastest car in the world, but it would be ok for me, and I would save a lot of money due to the low fuel consumption.

    North

Absolutely WOW imagine that, more money left over at the end of the month to buy something for the condo. Hmmm.

Come on Thai government get the diesels and Hybrids in at the price of our petrol cars and we will be cooking on gas!

    Regards

  12. Oh no i feel great now, i was 29 when i bought my first Boxster and i was 21 when i got my first 911. But if it is any consulation, at the time i did feel like a 45 year old. Got the pics to prove it.

Porsches are the best cars in the world (in my opinion of course) and yes you are right IF i had the money (it is now in the form of a condo) i would'nt buy one here as the roads and your fellow drivers would have it wrecked inside a year.

    Regards

  13. For sure there are Mercedes-Benz saloons with Diesel engine (C 220, E 220 and some S-Class too) and AUDI (S6). Probably also BMW, but not sure which model.

Just saw some advertising for the Ford Focus with Diesel engine. They claim a torque of 340 Nm, quite impressive for a 2 liter engine.

BMW only have the 4-cyl deisel here in Thailand...I have the 520d..very quick...just been to Kanchanaburi and back today 18km/ltr..rarely does less than 10km/ltr around BK. Also you can sit in the car whilst waiting for the wife to 'quick shop', and leave the engine running for the air con. Doesn't use much fuel on tickover. Quite inside..but sounds a bit like a pick up from outside...you notice very little vibration sitting in the car at tickover...can recommend it.

Wow a BMW 520d, now that is the right car to drive here in my opinion. Safe, economical and as the Japanese cars will last a lifetime. All down to money which few of us can afford. Safe driving and respect.

Just need to win that lotto so i can then have a car collection like those people you see on Top Gear etc.

  14. If you were in the market for a 2 seat German convertble which of these models would be your choice and why? The Porsche Boxster or the BMW 328i convertable series. They are both around the same price, German made convertables, and very similar engine specs.

After being a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT and an owner/driver of a 2006 BMW M5 , I'd say neither.

But to answer the question..if I was a girl or a very camp/effeminate male I'd get the boxster :o else, I'd get the BMW.

    Hmmm.

Not many girls where i live driving a Porsche Boxster, plenty of blokes though.

Still personal preference and all that.

Lets not get bogged down with the male female stuff.

I would own any of the said cars but simply prefer a Porsche.

    All the best.

Just my perspective..they look a bit girly to me, like the new VW beetle, Mercedes SLK32, Mini Cooper, any car painted pink, yellow or pastel blue :D

Yer right there mate, those colours are terrible but must appeal to the ladies out there. Oh yes and those young rich girls with more money than sense.

You definately see more women driving the SLK than blokes. Hmmm. I wish i had the money now to have a choice hehe.

  17. This is from the guy who recently said on the Honda thread:
    Jazz is a girls car!

Seems to have a one track mind on car gender assignment.

    Mr Crap Dog Speak,

I'm afraid it's true that certain cars are for women. The Jazz is one example. Or take the MX-5 for another. Still i guess if you do drive a woman's car, at least no one can accuse you of having anything to compensate for. :o

That's my name and don't wear it out!

Well, if you want to split hairs, I think most people would tell you a yellow Jazz, along with most likely any colour Honda City would be a girl's car. Most other colors of Jazz, and especially the VTEC top models (in black) would not be considered girls cars.

Now, getting back to the Porsche, yes I agree the Boxter is mostly a wussy car, especially compared to the only real Porsche ever made to date, the 911s. Even the 924s and 944s and the other also-rans are crappy compared to the real thing.

    The Dog's butt speaks.

I wonder if any of these people have owned a Boxster?

It was certainly a mans car when i had mine.

Anyway as they say people have the own opinion, nothing wrong with that. I would take one out for a test drive and then see if you can walk away after the experience of listening to the engine @ 3000rpm and 6000rpm!

I took out a tiptronic and placed my order straight away, it took year to get built and i went to the factory to pick it up. Drove back through Germany and Holland all the way to the North East of England- what a laugh, of course I was running it in so couldnt go mad, but jesus what a car. If you send me your email i will send some pics if you like.

Oh yes it was better than my 911 Targa i had before it!!!

Go for the Boxster every time, i bought one and it was the best car in the world. Anymore info just send me a private message ok.

Porsche is the way to go.

    Regards.

  19. Yes i agree with Jamie, i would use nature rather than kill it (that's the Buddist in me). I would try and avoid them as much as possible but knowing they are there to help must be a good thing.
