My 5 in 1 Oil, it looks like a Singer copy, I bought from my local mini-mart for 12 B, here at Nai Yang so it must be available all over the island.

P.S. Vicks Vapour Rub, tiger balm and even butter can be used as a temporary lubricant, and don't forget you can always use a little cooking oil if you ever get stuck.

PPS A mixture of oil & kerosene (parafin) can be used as a a WD40 replacement

  2. I swim daily here in Phuket (well almost as it depends on the weather)

My friends & family witnessed this fairly rare occurance and I thought I would post this as a warning to others.

What anyone does with this information is entirely up to them.

I simply tried to do the right thing.

    :o

  3. So far away from me.......Dire Straits

If I was being pedantic I'd tell you that the song title is actually "So Far Away"

    but I'm not so I wont......... :o

    "So Long" .........Ricky Nelson

  4. I really feel that you should carry out your own reconnaissance and fact finding tour as what appeals to one does not always appeal to another. There many places on the island that fit with in your parameters but only you can decide what is most suitable to you.

I will not be pushing where I live as I'm happy for it to stay quiet and relatively undeveloped.

Cheers & Good Luck with your quest.... :o

  5. yeah, all is good for me here. ive settled in nicely and enjoying the island and the job. its definitely a lot slower than phuket is, but i like it that way.

i do have to say that anyone who thinks that phuket drivers are bad should come here and see what shocking driving REALLY is. to say that drivers here are all on a suicide mission is an understatement! man! at least in thailand the motorbikes stay on the left (most of the time). here, its a complete free for all. they overtake on the right side of the fast lane, zig zag in and out like crazy, and the car drivers have no regard for anyone else on the road other than themselves!

aside from the driving, its great!

we are at the end of the rainy season now and high season is approaching (we have opposite seasons to phuket). flights are full and hotels are all geared up for a bumper season. bookings are way over last year already and it looks like Bali has finally bounced back after the bombings.

    Hey Crocs,

The only thing Donna forgot to mention was the place is full of "plurry" 'Stralians..,. :o

  6. Thanks for the positive feedback and "striking" photo Khun Kan Win.

It was a one in a million accident I would agree, but if we can do anything to save a life in the future, by bringing this unfortunate incident to peoples notice, it will be worth it.

    :o
