  1. He can't head a ball

    He can't Dribble a ball

and he can't kick with his left foot

granted he's pretty good in a dead ball situation

and he can deliver a good cross from time to time.

Grudgingly I'd probably give him a game to make up his hundred appearances., but only 'cos it's a friendly or better still bring him on as a sub then say bye bye, it's time to move on - S.A.F had the right idea and now look who's wearing the No 7 shirt at Man Utd.

  2. Well we had under 50% of our average league attendance for yesterday's FA Cup tie. That speaks volumes for the appeal of the FA Cup now.

Or it could have been that half of your supporters knew that Sunderland would lose and just couldn't be bothered turning up...... :o . :D

  3. Qantas Socceroo David Carney made a significant return to the Sheffield United first team, with the only goal in its 1-0 win over Premier League side Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday.

Carney, rested over the Christmas/New Year break under the rotation policy at United, hit a low shot past Oman keeper Ali Al Habsi just before half time that eventually tied the game up in his side's favour.

United's victory was one of several upsets, with Brett Emerton's Blackburn Rovers humiliated at home by Coventry City to the tune of 4-1. Emerton was replaced in the 61st minute. Another to lose was Tim Cahill's Everton, beaten 1-0 by League One side Oldham Athletic. Cahill was rested for this game and clearly his goalscoring instincts of late were missing.

Overall its wasn't a good round for the Aussies with Paul Reid's (full game) Brighton beaten 2-1 at home against Mansfield; Richard Garcia came on at half time, as Hull City lost 3-2 away at Plymouth Argyle; Paul Henderson, Patrick Kisnorbo and James Wesolowski all played full games, as Leicester City lost 2-0 away at Southampton; while Lucas Neill was replaced at half time, as West Ham drew 0-0 at home with Manchester City. It was square between Shane Cansdell-Sherriff (Tranmere) and Trent McClenahan (Hereford), finishing 2-2.

The only other players to have success along with Carney, were Mark Schwarzer, who played a full game in a 2-1 away win against Bristol City and Josip Skoko, who got a rare start for Wigan Athletic in a 3-0 win over Sunderland.

  4. Did you know that if you have a current overseas licence that you can buy an international licence here in Phuket. I got mine a couple of years ago cost about 6000 baht and is good for 20 years !!! I have been stopped quite a few times and the it has been perfectly acceptable on every occassion. There is an office very close to the back of Big C, - if anyone need directions contact me. Cheers

  5. The one-way system will be re-routed once the road behind Jungceylon is completed -- whenever that may be.

Whether one way or two way traffic I loathe the town with a vengence and IMHO it's Scam City .

For a night out I would recommend Nai Yang, Nai Thon, Bang Tao, Surin, Kamala, Kata, Karon, Nai Harn, Rawai, Chalong and Phuket Town but never Patong.

That is just my opinion, and no doubt there are many like Sir Burr who partake of it's nightlife, that is your choice and you are welcome to it - viva la difference.

  6. It's not been a good month for me firstly my Stereo C.D. Player Died, then my D.V.D. and now my Computer monitor has given up the ghost. Even an old one a friend lent me passed away yesterday.

So now I'm in the market either for a resonable 2nd hand one or a cheap new one. Any ideas where to find here in Phuket would be most appreciated.

    Thanking you in anticipation.

  7. Hi Donna,

Just on the off chance, I'm checking to see if you have a monitor for sale ? Yours probably went the the computer but I'd double check.

Cheers & All the best for Bali

  8. I didn't see the match but what's this about Tevez pulling a dummy out of his shorts as a goal celebration :o

Yeah, it's true, and I have no idea why. or where he was actually keeping it :D

It makes one wonder what else they have tucked away in their jockstraps, on second thoughts I'm not even going to think about it ...... :D

  9. Bl00dy immigrants. We already sent them over there once and now theyr'e trying to get back in. Close the borders and send them back :o

Careful what you say Mr.BJ you've even got one at Man City, though I did notice they are conspicuous by there abscence at the Dale. Word is out and about in the antipodes re the players calender photo shoot...... :D

P.S. Check the Aussie Abroad thread I've just created - even I'm flabbergasted !

  10. O.K. let me first say I'm staggered !! - I never realised there were so many.

I was replying to a thread to Mr.Toad about a young Aussie lad due to join Bristol City soon, when I thought I should do a little research into how many lads from Oz were currently in the U.K. The following is a list of only those who currently have a contract with an English or Scottish club. Hopefully later I will list those who are currently playing for clubs in Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany. Finland, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

This is in no way to be seen as crowing as I have always respected and felt for the quiet achievers - however as a country whose population is probably about 21 million it certainly compares well against somewhere like Thailand (Pop about 60 mill perhaps) who are probably hard pressed to name but one player playing in Europe.

Over 50 players - I wonder how this affects young Brits trying to score a contract ?

Anyway more to follow later and I trust this brings a bit of interest - any comments ?

Even if it's only to remark on the best named footballer in Scotland - Danny Invicible !!

  11. Chavy will be happy, as Forest picked up three points, and throw into the bargaing Leeds lost. Ken the Trannies are still intouch with the leaders, but a bad result against Port Fail.

I'm pleased to see Bristol City flying high in the Championship, really hope they get promoted as have a soft spot for them having lived in Bristol for 8 years.

I also hope Bristol City do well as now they look like signing an Aussie guy (of Chilean descent) Nick Carle.

Come to think of it I may just check around and see how many boys from Oz are currently playing in the top 4 leagues in England

  12. I sort of agree with you Mr.T, though I have to say there were a few moments of pure magic, and let's not forget Teves hit the woodwork twice. Speaking of Teves did you see he was carried from the stands to the dressing room by a couple of medics which doesn't bode well, we might have to give him this weekend off and tell Rooney to stop skiving off and get his sh!t together for Aston Villa.
