One name for that machine is a prophy jet. It uses sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in water to blast the teeth. For some reason they also call this air polishing I believe, as in "prophy jet air polishing". I don't know where the word air gets in there.
It really gets teeth clean.
I have been advised by several dentists that this process is very bad for the enamel of your teeth. I just pass on having it done and go for the regular cavitron deep cleaning.

Have been for years now... never a problem.

At the time of its creation, the Royal Thai Tourist Police placed notices in several local tourist magazines, organizing a morning meeting at a hotel to invite those wishing to become Foreign Volunteer Tourist Police Assistants. That was about 10 years ago. The program has taken several ups and downs since then as the concept was refined and the role of these volunteers further defined. At its height, the number of volunteers was about 30 here in Chiang Mai, and they could be seen in the evenings walking the streets of the Night Bazaar, around Thapae Gate, Chiang Mai Gate,Saturday and Sunday Walking Streets, and several major tourist attractions, as well as stationed at the Tourist Police Headquarters. Organizational changes reduced that number when the Tourist Police began 'requiring' a 20-hour per week 'donation.' These days, the organization still exists, but the number of volunteers is significantly reduced.
At no time did the volunteers in Chiang Mai have police powers, nor did they function as 'undercover' moles to ferret out criminals. At all times, the volunteers were simply a liaison between Police and foreign tourists, their main duty was to provide aid to the tourist seeking language, locations, directions, and asked-for assistance.
If you wish further information, or wish to contact this group, a phone call to the Royal Thai Tourist Police will get you there.
Bunch of wannabes who couldn't get to wear the paraphernalia of donut munchers in their home countries...

Don't be expecting much, if any, English used and be sure to know how to order from a menu in Thai.

RIP - Hauling 8 people arpound at that altitude wouldn't have let them have much of a payload of humanitarian cargo...

For the OP - I think the saying goes something like "takes one to know one"...

It is OK for edible supplies although Yok carries a comprable stock at similar prices and easier to find and park.
My experience with BM on trying to get help with warranty on items (mixer, cooking stove) has been the normal miserable old way of being ignored and them not doing any after sales service. Got things corrected on my own and never bother going near the place any more.

Bunch of wannabe donut munchers. Go back to their countries and they probably wouldn't be able to get a muncher job even as a volunteer. Spend enough money on the local muncher department back home and you could be a true wannabe like that idiot in Tulsa OK and pull out the wrong gun and kill someone.
Idiots all!

Take a large, plastic milk milk jug, or similar plastic jug; cut off the top just at the point that the jug widens out. Turn the top over into the bottom, so that it will act as a funnel. Tape it together and half fill with water and a couple spoonfuls of machine oil. Mount the jug on the trunk of the tree using your own imagination for method. The beetles will fall into the "funnel" and drown in the water-oil solution. Be sure to empty the jug as soon as it fills so that there is room for more to drown. Then, remount the jug on the trunk.
I am not too sure how that could possibly work. The lime bushes are small with lots of spikes & not much room to attach something like that. Also, the beetles live at the end of the branches, well out from the main stem, are very mobile & fly well. I am not sure what would persuade them to crawl down the "trunk" where we never see them and then "fall" into a funnel of machine oil & water. Also a lot of (painful) prickly work doing 100 trees with lots of unpleasant regular maintenance. With the rainy season starting we could have machine oil overflowing into the planter which would not be good for the trees. I guess I am not going to try that one at all. Thanks for the try though.
I can understand your reticence for having to do any real "work" to control these bug... far easier, for you, to just squirt and wait for them to fall! Please keep your limes out of the markets given the toxic swill with which you are filling them. No problem for me as I grow my own with no sprays.

At least back then the US had he wisdom and maturity to see that endless involvement in Vietnam was bad for America, not just bad for Vietnam, so they cut their losses and left.. whereas now in Iraq they don't know when to quit, they keep pouring money and material into this civil war that never ends as long as foreign countries like the US, Iran, Gulf States continue to interfere.
Interesting rational for a complete <deleted>!

Saves fuel but they haven't any idea of where they're going or coming from?

The soi past the SCB corner of Rajiviti, T/L about 20 yards down on the right is a very small shop that comes highly recommended (I won't say who by, but a highly respected opthalmologist). You wouldn't even know it was there if no one told you about it, but they're good.
Unfortunately their English (except for the main player) isn't great, but they know what they're doing.
You can get lenses there for 28,000 baht or you can try a pair of Hoya progressive's with tint for 4,000 baht like I did and I'm well pleased.
Have a look in if you're around there, nothing to lose.
It's only open 1700-1900 Mon Fri and Sat mornings 9-12......just walk in.
The owner works in a hospital, she can tell you where.
**I took my own frames
Went there on a recommendation. Measurement for lenses was difficult because her equipment could not measure wide eye spacing. So she guessed and it was way off, lenses unusable.
Tried them on the recommendation of probably the same opthomologist. Prices kept going higher and higher as she spoke and then wanted 3 - 5 days to process the order and wanted the glasses off my face. She preferred to talk with my Thai partner rather than me as well. No, I didn't buy a thing.

Why would you take a plot of productive agricultural land and modify it (permanently) for building a home? You have been given a litaney of problems doing so - sewage drainage, electrical/internet connections and then the time you need to let the fill settle.
Why not tradce the land for some piece on a hillside nearer the connections you need for utilities, rid yourself of the drainage problems and leave the land to feed the population?
If you have to put down a bore for water what kind of water will you find? Nicely polluted with chemicals unless you get really deep.
Give it a thought...

Check with the electrical shop on Wulai Road - don't remember the name but I've always heard it referred to as Wulai Electric. From my experience, if they don't have something it is because it isn't made...

The biggest hardware/equipment shop in Chom Thong, Poposit (sp?), had loads of them I noticed. Located just past the Tesco Lotus as you come in from Chiang Mai.

Some excellent opthomologists at Sripat and the surgical equipment they use is much more up to date than that used at RAM...
Oh yes, fees are considerably less as well...

Hopefully the post from brufi works out the best for the beauty of a dog.
One local Facebook group "Chiang Mai Pets For Sale & Give Away" may offer some hope as well...
I would love to have her here on our little 3 rai but the 3 rescue dog residents may not take well to her arrival!

A drunk police officer hitting another car and killing a member of the public by shooting him!!
And his colleagues trying to cover his sorry backside!!
Another proud day for the Thai "police" !!
Seems that the BIB have learned their lessons well from their 'merican donut munching counterparts...
Wonder when the 'mericans will finally start prosecuting some of their trigger happy militant cops.

I have noticed a very real jump in prices since CP bought Makro... not the most inexpensive place even for bulk buying anymore.

Some good ones imported from Taiwan. Bought a rear tiller model, chaing drive, a few years ago from a dealer in Chiang Mai and it works a wonder.
If you are in the CM area PM me and I can direct you to the dealer.
Seems that the OP is not reading responses even as to where he is located.

Are we headed for the 500 baht avocado? Adios to green bliss ...

Been growing my own and expanding the number of trees in my orchard out of Chiang Mai as well. Advertised seedlings in a Facebook page and sold some but the response wasn't astoudning. Mix of Thai and westerners buying. Pics are of seedlings and fruit on the "mother" tree...
