  1. If you can keep the compressor unit out of direct sunlight, however you have it mounted, is the best way.

It couldn't hurt, but I think airflow is a lot more important. There are millions of rooftop a/c installations, even in places like Phoenix.

Obviously airflow is critical... I have solar water heating and that sun does get things really hot so shading surely should be an important consideration as well.

How it is done in Phoenix really doesn't make it right even there! 555+

  2. I have the gold package, pay 1 year up front and get one month free, win win.

Best you take a look at the fine print on paying in advance. Last year I looked and found that, if I had to cancel during the year, there would be no refund for the months not used - not a satang. Called them and they confirmed.

Went to a month- by-month payment. Lasted 3 months and a great and better deal came along. Dropped True like the proverbial hot potato.

  3. I have repeatedly tried to get an application started but can never get past the first page. Getting that popup about going to you local Immigration office, Chiang Mai in my case.

That basically means your record cannot be found in the database.

Most common reason is an entry before 2013. After that getting a new passport since your last entry.

There could also be an error in the data base.

Lots of post about it in the pinned topic about 90 day reporting.

    Last entry April 2014.

    Passport new 2013.

Have followed the pinned topic to the nth degree. Will front to CM Immigration next week.

Longer story as to why I won't try mail this time around... life as an expatriate!

    Thanks for your reply.

  4. Sounds to me you have some above ground rhizomes ,the maine one here is star grass ,that is what the locals around here call it , a member of the couch grass/twitch grass ( depends where you come from ) family , string like with tentacles coming off ,Google it and compare .

Where did it come from ,must have been brought in somehow ,or crept in under a fence ,from a another plot ,we have it growing in corners, it can spread quickly ,get rid of it by pulling it out .soon as you see a bit ,like couch grass in my old uk garden ,keep at it, and it will die out, glyphosate works well ,but it would look a mess on a lawn .

Thanks for the response, I looked it up, but that is not what I have.

I have a 2 or 3 very small spots of star grass right at a corner.

But what I'm talking about is right in the middle of the lawn.

It looks like Malaysian grass, but it grows on top of the surface, instead of under it. I wouldn't be worried about if it were just a few strings, but it are 2 by 2 meter areas.

Tomorrow I'll try to take a picture of it and post it here.

Malaysia grass spreads and gets a thicker ground cover by sending along these surface runners. It is great for crowding out other grasses that try to get in its way.

  5. ...I doubt that is how 'it went down'.....

...wonder if that is the same soi and same dog that almost attacked my daughters and I a few years ago....

...it behaved like a mindless killing machine and was only stopped by the owner at the last second....

The news article states that the dog was but 7 months old so I seriously doubt that it could have been the dog you accuse of attempting to attack you and your daughters.

Please read the article before inserting your foot into your mouth!

  6. Good for Dr B to have so many accolades. I, most assuredly, will not be giving any nor would a number of my aquaintences who have visited him over the years.

Great English yes, a cutter rather than a treater.

Flamers may now light your torches!

  7. OP doesn't say where he wants to use the reflective foil. To block sunlight from a window, reflect heat from under the roofing material?

It would be nice to know what he's really looking for, then advice can be given correctly.

    Sorry

I should have been more specific with my request

OK! What particular use might you be wanting? ;-)

He wants to cover his windows to keep the heat from coming in to his room

As his room faces the afternoon sun

    Is this specific enought

Thank you so much for your response.. I mus have missed that part of the thread so there is no need to be snarky in your response OK?

  10. If you build a true septic system then you would only have to pump out the sludge every 5 - 10 years if it is sized correctly.

In fact a true, correctly sized septic system may never have to be pumped out. And even a typical Thai ring tank system may never need pumping, ours is going on 10 years and has never been, or needed to be pumped.

True. However if you are living in Isaan where you occasionally find your house surrounded by water, the septic tank will overflow.

Don't build on the flat land... leave that good land for the farmers to raise food!
