  1. Get a large tank (250+ liters) on your solar system. Be aware of when you see cool temps and cloudy days and become frugal in your hot waer use then.

Crossy is right about the trickle you will get out of a water heater regardless of how large your feeder pipe is. The heaters generally have inlet/outlets no larger than 1/2".

  2. Wishing you the best of luck in getting anything out of Whirlpool. Had an issue with a lower door hinge gone bad. Their fix - buy a new refrigerator even though mine was but 5 yo at the time.

Resorted to getting the Whirlpool USA people getting on to the Hong Kong reps who in turn got after the Thai. Only took him 2.5 months to finally get the parts to me.

Most of these are made by Sanyo so if you can match the parts you might have a better chance.

  3. The local 'plumbers' will not use the flange and wax ring unless you stand over them and make them. They prefer to just slop some grout around the base of the toilet and hope the flushed material will jump the gap. Most unsanitary and when (not if) it starts to leak you get to clean up the mess.

I have had to go to the manufactuer's stores to buy the flang/wax ring set as it seems that many of the hardware stores do not sell them... or are ignorant about their use and have no idea what you are wanting.

  4. There are roadside stands that sell very nice looking produce cheap, cheap, cheap. It's so fresh, they're bringing it straight out of the fields for some products. You might want to bring an ice chest with you to load up for the trip home.

Might be best to really try to clean the produce somehow of the loads of pesticides used while it is grown. Overheward one vendor saying that she wouldn't feed the unsold goods to her pigs as she was afraid theat it would poison them!

    Caveat emptor.

  5. Get the measurements of the stone you want then go to a granite shop (there are lots of them around) to have them cut the stone from scrap they have.

Paid 300 baht for mine some 10+ years ago and it's still working just great!

I have tried 3 pieces of granite so far and they all cracked. I will try unglazed terracotta tile next.

You let the baking stone, be it granite or terracotta, heat with the oven... at least that is what I have done over the years. But then, who am I to say?

Yes, who are you to say that's what we haven't done?

This is just what I love about TV... try to pass on some correct and good information that has worked for me (and others) and then some wise arse has to declare that he's the only one who is right. Fornicate him!

Granite is tricky. It can crack in the heat of an oven if it has any hidden flaws. So, you have to hope you get lucky when you buy a piece. I learned that the hard way. On Hangdong Road a few hundred meters south of tesco-lotus, there are brick and tile stores which sell loose unglazed terracotta tiles. I've used them in my oven with great success. The stores are hard to miss because there are stacks of brick outside them.

Seems that you haven't had lots of luck keeping the unglazed tikes from cracking either? 555+

Maybe tap in the granite to hear a soild ringing? I've never had any problem but I do not know all about these things... just suggesting in response to the query of the OP.

  9. A fitting end to the beginning career of another donut muncher!

A short, concise and clearly stated opinion! And, if this had been a case of bullets accompanied by a firearm, your comment would meet with my total agreement...for one cannot possibly accidentally leave or drop such an item into one's suitcase! But, with the few given facts, I find your comment to be absent any sense true justice! Any suggestion, fredge45, as to what motivates your use of the words "fitting end" and "donut muncher"!! Your sense of justice appears can be measured with the same tiny thimble into which your degree of esteem for law enforcement personnel would fit! I don't know you, nor do I know what your occupation might be.....but I do hope that the penalty for any possible transgression that you might commit is not put in the hands of someone who, similar to yourself is apparently no fan of Portia's plea to Shylock when she sought mercy by imploring " The quality of mercy is not strained......it blesseth him that gives and him that takes", but who would instead be calling." GUILTY!! Take him out and hang him!! Next case! " even before a trial took place!!

When traveling there is such a thing as taking personal responsibility for what is traveing in your bag as in this case. Perhaps the Norwegian police will allow this transgression given that it happened outside of their jurisdiction?

  10. Beauty! Have some similar and they are lovely... but I have no idea of a name. I grow a lot and can give an idea of the variety but not enough to show I care... I just like growing them and being blessed by their flowering!

Thanks, at least I am not delusional! Did you buy? I have been through literally hundreds of images and a few websites.

Buy when I see in the markets, trade with friends... just too lazy and stupid to find out the "proper" names (more of the latter before someone calls me out!).

  11. Check around in some of the older hardware shops (with a picture of what you want). Also some of the LPG filing stations seem to have fittings. I noticed supplies being sold at the corner of Highways 11 and 118 - just down from Central Festival. 18°48'13.74"N 99° 1'8.13"E if you are using GPS

  12. Yet another example of the catastrophe that happens when homosexuals are put in positions of trust over young boys. It didnt work for the Catholics and wont for the Buddhists nor any other group.

The time is long past to end the spin that homosexuals are "gay". They constitute a real and present danger to male youth, and steps are long overdue here and in many other countries to limit their access to the innocent.

Research shows that many homosexuals were themselves raped as children and much like HIV transmission, it takes one to make a new one. Our hearts must go out to all these victims, and to the perp himself due to the likely crimes committed against him in his past. But employment discrimination against homosexuals remains fundamental to our most sacred of duties, protection of the innocent.

What a wonderful and sensitive human being you seem to be - not.
