When did you last renew? I renewed mine in February in Chiang Rai. Since I renewed both my car and motorcycle license I needed 2 originals of the medical certificate and the COR. They would not accept the yellow book. I also had evidence that I completed both online courses and copies of my passport information page and my latest visa extension stamp. My previous license expired on the 22nd (my birthday) and I renewed on the 23rd so my 5 year license is good for 6 years. It expires on 22 Feb 2032. It expires 5 years from your next birthday

My brother and I had chicken pox back in the 60s. You are correct about shingles. My brother had shingles about 10 years ago. Luckily I managed to get the shingles vaccine before I could be hit with it.

I am an American living in Thailand on a retirement visa. Since I bring money into Thailand I may be liable for tax although so far I have not had to pay any tax. I had no problem getting a Thai tax id number.

I walk 5k everyday and a few years ago I started getting pain in my left knee. I believe the doctor said it was rheumatoid arthritis. I now walk with a knee brace and I take glucosamine every day. It has helped. Very rarely do I feel any pain.

It is posts like this that make me glad I do the retirement extension instead of a marriage extension even though I’m married to a Thai. Seven years of extensions without a problem. Over that time period I’ve always provided the same documentation. No changes made by Chiang Rai immigration.

According to the land office here in Chiang Rai they want the COR for my license renewal. They won’t accept the yellow book

I just applied for one in Chiang Rai this past Monday. They gave me a receipt telling me to come back next Monday, 7 days. I provided a copy of the picture page of my passport, copies of my original visa and latest extension. Along with that I provided a copy of my TM30, yellow book and Thai ID card. Chiang Rai has a simple form to fill out. No picture was needed.

I did my extension in December. Bangkok Bank issued the letter verifying the account like you mentioned. I was doing the monthly transfers and all I needed to do for Chiang Rai immigration was to highlight the monthly transfers on the 12 month bank statement as long as the statement designated that they were foreign transfers.

Earlier this month I did my retirement extension here in Chiang Rai. I did not do a deposit or withdrawal. The day before I went in I got my bank statement and had my bank book updated. It had the date of the update and the notation “B/F” on the line with my current balance which was acceptable.

Before I opened my second account and deposited the 800k I went into the immigration office and talked to them. They confirmed that I could stop the monthly transfers. Chiang Rai immigration is very easy to work with. They are open to meeting with you as long as you don’t go on a Monday or Wednesday when they do extensions.

In Chiang Rai the bank letter and copies of the bank book do not need to be done on the day of application for a retirement extension. I did my 7th extension last week. I got my letter from Bangkok Bank and had my bank book updated the day before I applied. My bank book update was just getting it dated with the notation the it was balance brought forward. I did not need to make any transaction. As a side note I switched from transferring 65k every month to having 800k in the bank. I brought in 65k every month through August. In September I put 800k into my account and stopped the monthly transfers. I had no trouble getting my extension.
