  1. Wifes little chopper

That is cool too Wantan thanks

When I see some older bikes especially smaller capacity bikes.
It reminds me of older architecture.
40 years or more? ago they built many small homes in the US
I think they were called craftsmen cottages.

Even though they were small they had very cool complex roof designs.
Bike & engines like these remind me of them.
The builders seemed to look at the bike as a whole & worked to make them look
    very nice/flowing design wise.
Only a smallish engine but a V twin with thought given to exhaust design/aesthetics
    etc.
    Very nice

  2. Fascinating all the "Thai's are only successful because they keep out Farangs" yet there is William Heinecke in at No 20 with Billion $'s.

I do think not many Thai companies have competed very successfully overseas, but CP group is doing a good job.

I am surprised that the SAMART family isn't higher.

Also Thaksin, love him or hate him as a politician, did build a very successful business empire that is still today with new owners for most of it, very well run.

  3. Wife bought this one,

    Everest 2.5L 4x2 LTD NAVI AT In-line 4-cylinder DOHC 16V TDCi
(Turbo Diesel Commonrail Injection) 5 Speed Automatic Retail price at THB 1,169,000

What I like is it has far more room than the Mitsuibishi which we considered, the sideways opening door I thought was a negative, but it turns out the wife couldn't reach up to close the back door of the Mitsu.

Down side while I think is a seat that doesn't go up and down, as you may guess the wife is short! So she sits on a pillow.

What really sold us was it's significantly roomier in the back than the Mitsu. The curved roof of the Mitsu my head hits the roof when I am in the back, plus the Mitsu has an artifically higher floor, which is odd.

We bought in Sawang Daen Din

  4. <<“We have two plans to apprehend the stepfather. . . . . . . . . We are also going to be on the look out for the man because we believe he will return to Thailand,” Capt Teerasak said.

“We think he’ll be back because he doesn’t know that his wife reported him to the police, and he has two children here with her,” he said.>>

Errr - and he doesn't read newspapers?

  5. We bought a Everest about 10 months back. Very happy, no issues with service, though the Toyota is the best so far.

Good car to drive, gets good mileage for it's size, very comfortable,

The Ford web site verifies all the freebies you get, about to have our 4th new car in Thailand after many years and never have gotten the discounts you can get in Australia.

Good truck, great in the country, wouldn't want it for the city, and like you I don't want a pick up.

  6. Plus there is a chance 10 people will say you went though his pockets. !5 seconds here and there is a whole new reality written.

I choose not to believe that, but I`d like to know if you have any experience with that happening?

    In Australia:-

A high school friend was in a car driven by a drunk boyfriend, went down the side of the road near Rocky in a bad accident, the accident wasn't reported for 8 hours, so no ambulance for that time, YET someone had found the accident, gone and removed everyone's wallets, purse, necklace etc,

Can't remember why but police had a good reason that happened hours before the ambulance came,

She's never been out of a wheel chair in the 30 years since the accident, and even sadder had been told "IF" she had been found earlier, she would have had a better chance of success from the spinal surgery.

  7. I've assisted at a number of accidents, often to stop well meaning Thai's not to cause more injury to the victims,

Never been sued, sue me if you want to but that isn't ever going to stop me helping people.

PS I've never seen a cop ticketing a car, they may shackle the wheels, but ticketing is a pretty much Western thing.

I have seen some guys like parking "gods" do it once, just before the cops arrived to shackle the cars, busy metro Bangkok.

  8. When gold price goes down, the cost of the "making" seems to go up, gold is high, cost of making is often lower, it's always cyclic, but interesting

Friday I seem to re-call 17800 for gold, day before was 18300, Monday previous was abround the edge of 20 000

Bangkok post I believe has the daily gold price?

  9. I bought some large sets like in a playground.

The local steel supplier for the building trade makes them, for not much more than the cost of steel tubing and paint.

I have seen other building suppliers make them also.

  10. many shops sell the various dishes in the main street and road heading up to Tesco

Note Sawang has a cable company too.

Been to Steak place. low season as ricing planting so obvious affecting the place, sad to say they did the same a few years back

  11. What is interesting here, and I know from facebook pages and yellow shirt friends of mine, that they are supporting or initiating this "V for Vendetta and Anonymous Thai branch, as well as calling themselves the "Thai Spring"

The irony is that in other countries, the V Vendetta/Anon/Spring movements are all left leaning and against the main structure of society,

Here the names are being used "As they sound good in the press" by people who are identified yellow shirt supporters, which is the opposite of what these groups are elsewhere.

    Quite funny really.

  12. This is actually illegal

A UK citizen can't apply nor obtain a visa for entry to UK using another countries passport.

Had a mate who made this mistake with his kid, same thing happened to me with taking my kid to Australia. Both time they pointed out the child as a UK national in his case, Australian in mine and they can't apply for visa's under their Thai passports but MUST enter on the home countries passport.

I suspect all countries have similar laws.

Beetlejuice - but what you've recommended is basically using a getting a Thai visa in a British passport to enter Thailand and using a Thai passport with a UK visa to enter the UK. A bit counter intuitive.

  13. In my wifes villege they have completed aproxitmaly 4 km of 8 inch thick concret roads. They voted for the correct person....whistling.gif

Same situation, over about 4 years the village has gone from dust to concrete roads, with buffers every so many meters to stop cracking from heat expansion.

Roads lasting really well, unlike the tarmac ones that dissolve in rains as they never go deep enough or build them right way.

Taken a number of years as village fund financed and not enough to do the whole village in one go,
