I have a Thai license, for over 15 years continuous now, went to the Transport place at Chatuchuk, got a Thai International License in about 10 minutes.
I use mine in Australia where I am visiting family at the moment
Note it seems to close early, I think 3.30pm?

Our Everest (2 years old) has GPS - not sure why you think not possible?
Mr IMHOAmazed no ones mentioned another thing we don't get here. You can move the brake/accelerator pedal electrically to suit the seating position on this years Tahoe.
They don't even have driver memory for the driver's chair or mirrors Ace.... you have to crawl before you can walk
Do I recall you stating a while ago that 'someone' was trying to adapt the Everest 'screen' to enable GPS. I'm fairly sure that it was you but can't locate the topic. Any update on this please. thanks -
I had almost the same accident happen to me, I was indicating right, no vehicles in front or behind, WAM, brand new pick up hits the front of my vehicle as it swerves to avoid me,
They hadn't seen my indicators, going to fast I also suspect.
Went to police
I was in the clear, went home, that was that.
He was fined, his insurance to pay for our vehicle.

Interesting the free services - never shopped for a high end car but of the lower ones we've bought, it's hard to get a discount and free anything other than a floor mat. I suspect a softening market?
I've had a Volvo S60, far older version as I bought it second hand. VERY nice ride, as good as older S Class Benz that I mate has and I drive at times.
BMW - never liked them though a mate in Bangkok's wife bought one and they swear by it.

Most in our village did a lot of hard playing on the Friday and Saturday before Monday. Include was the usual washing hands of old people which nearly everyone goes too.by Monday most to tired to party on.

About 250 000 baht in Australia, and only comes in grey, so add on a paint job, Thai pricing is as bad as elsewhere

The mazda we used to do a balance and tyre rotate every 15 000 km, the Toyota we didn't need too, nor with the Everest

I bought a 2CV Charleston new, Burgundy and black, from the citron factory, dam a great car, miss it all the time.
Only issue about bringing one here is parts, I'd look at bringing in the container or filling the car with parts when you ship it.
Wish you all the best

PM me and I'll send directions and a mobile I may be able to find

Very hypocritical when 10 African countries are rated as less corrupt as Thailand,

I used to have (sorry no longer) some videos from Kaesesart Uni on how to raise frogs.
We showed them to a group of farmers and one chap ran with the idea,
Very successful, he now teaches others regularly,
He has a great eco-farm, about 25 rai also where he does all sorts of fruits and insects, frogs etc,
He even had solar power but recently connected to mains. Still uses the solar I think when I was last out there.
Amazing little farm that I am very envious off, great guy, and if you are near Sawang Daen Din I could see if he's available, however he speaks zero english.

WineSociety, which to me is a knock of of the Wine Connections, is aimed at the locals, I eat there maybe once a month, it's expensive compared to Bangkok even. However it's clientele are mostly Thai, rich Thai, there are a lot of wealthy Thais in Udon
However pretty much every thing else is lower in cost than Bangkok. I'm not sure if the poster has actually lived in Bangkok to get an idea.
Quality of food in the markets at UD Town is good, love those salted fish, cheap, can't get that at those prices in Bangkok.
Bangkok these days is getting silly expensive, places with hi-so setting, but crap food are priced higher than Jakarta or Singapore.
Frankly Jakarta is becoming a fav city of mine

on the new Vios and then the new Mazda 2, we got about 12 months on the battery, and 40K on the tyres, swapped them for good tyres and good batteries at the one year mark we do 40-50k a year)
Interesting the Ford Everest came with good tyres, 80 k and I suspect another 40k left in them

Near Sawang,
On the other side of Sawang is Ban Ko Korn, which has on the site of the temple a purpose built building protecting one of the oldest stuppa's in Thailand.
Inside is a small museum with bit's of bodies pottery etc dating back to the same period.
Given these are all few days walk from Ban Chiang, not really surprising.
The Ko Korn site building was built by a USA university, now seems long forgotten

Is Chaang Noi my alter ego?
I also have the 2012 Everest, agree with all he said.

Many villages and towns have rocket festivals, even the small villages have great festivals, starts soon, and last for a number of months. The problem is finding ou where and when.
Khon Kaen has a number around it, the TOT there "may" know.
Nong Kai the same

More than a decade ago I met one of the owners, I had no idea they had plans to make bikes, reason he connected with me was he wanted to add MP3 players into the bike, great little idea, didn't go anywhere, but he was thinking of trying to make cheap bikes interesting.
Agree, sad to see them go, regardless what people think of them

Do it in Laos, I did as it was closer to where I lived than Bangkok.
You don't leave the old passport behind remember
-
Not so long ago someone transiting at Bangkok thought the same and was caught. All passenger manifests are provided to Thailand, as it happens in all countries. Better to fly to Sillypore and get a flight direct or Vietnam
-
Works well
I had a similar problem a few years back, I booked the Udon - Vientiane leg by the Nok Air bus.
You even get a flight number.
Worked fine as Air Canada wasn't going to let me fly, with that, they did.
NOT the below.
The airline will accept a flight booking from Bangkok to Vientiane.
Bus tickets etc are not acceptable and can not be booked from Spain.
Easy option is to book a hotel in Vientiane and print out the booking.- 1

Wife has one, it's been great, very good, nice design too

Never met a Thai who wouldn't take something from the left hand
BUT
THis part is correct - not so common, but in the 90's much more common
<<Often when a Thai man shakes hands in the western style he will also hold/touch his right elbow with his left hand.

Rama 9 most Saturday afternoons, televised live often

1K????
Serious?
I never pay more than 100 for anything, even when told there's been a price hike

I find the Ford will never beat Toyota argument amazing,
When I first came here Izuzu was "the" car to have by Thais,
Toyota eventually beat them.
