  1. ฆฟกสั ะ้ำ

FARK had the keyboard in Thai - DUH

Sadly the German died - wife had a baby at same time - still looking for the Dutch Bar but the "Pink HOuse" is good fun North of Sawan.

Airport does Sky Diving and has a resort planned there or being done now

  2. Hi Bridge - new to asking qustions in this part of Thai Visa - you seem to be in the know.

I want to know what sort of Visa my wife can obtain while living in Bangkok with me. At sometime she needs to get a Aussie passport - the two kids have aussie passports already of course.

I had "heard" she can get a Permanent Residency Visa now even while living in Thailand.

    Is this correct?

Been together 9 years oldest is 7. Do we get a "Discount" on the waiting time for a passport?

New to asking these questions as never really wanted to return to Australia but realise maybe the kids soon will need a better education.

If these questions asked before please accept my appology and point me in the right direction. PM is fine if others have heard it all before.

  3. Does anyone know a good place to get PS3 games (legal games, in the box, etc.) around Bangkok? Looking for a large selection and good prices.

Second question: How do prices here typically compare to prices in Europe? For some PC games there are companies that offer very competative (lower) prices in an effort to make legal games more attractive; is the same true for PS3 games? And then which titles?

( Note: Not sure if this should go in the technology forum or not; Opted for here as it's not a tech problem I'm having, it's about PS3 games which are for entertainment. Feel free to move it though )

Most of the games I have seen have been pirate games - however the cost of them is now so high I only buy legal as well.

    Can you get pirate PS3?

I would think Fortune and Plantip - no idea on pricing - are PS3 games usually more or less than PC games?

  4. <<I do not like the female he has for Industrial Relations--- It looks like a member of the feminazi could be problems there.>>

Gee - if you want someone able to stand up to unions I'd want a femnazi in the job. (Not saying she is one)

<<If you are living ouside Australia why vote? They are not going to look after your interests.>>

But you may want to return, or in my case, I'd like to be able to get the child bounty or whatever it is for having kids, I can't get that if overseas :o

<<You're also voting against him cos your mum was racially abused ?? Excellent reason to change a government lol.>>

Excelent idea, another reason never to vote Liberal for not stopping hatred.

  5. Use a VOIP service, these typically use local numbers to teerminate in host countries, thogh not always, but you have a better chance of your nunmber not showing up or a strange number instead of your thai number.

As said, you can't turn off number showing in Thai mobiles, as soon as you do , the mobile no longer works :o

Though for many people, they won't know WHY the phone has stopped working

  6. I like most people I know, am also disillusioned with the crappy service True offer.

I have just started researching other options, and have come across JSAT.TV

Looks like it is run by a farang, and appears to give lots of options.

I am going to give them a call tomorrow. Anyone have any dealings with this company? Experiences etc.

Options are what we need cos True in my opinion has just got worse and worse :o

Good solid service, obviously at first not as cheap as True/UBC but in long run most people are far happier, many happy customers in the technical forum praise JSAT JSAT.TV I think is the web site

  7. Echo that...

    Info anyone please.

It's been discussed a lot in past in technical forum, it's made mostly for Thais as vast majority of content in Thai, the box will offer more services in the future, and at the price, it's worth getting just to get wife happy etc

Shin also have a similar offering but less channels at the moment, cheaper box though

  8. <Sir, it is people like yourself and others of similar dedication that are true unsung heros.>

Thank you for kind words, but we're not hero's, we just supply a technology and content that makes teacher's job better, the students better, that's all, we don't go to the the South I am cowardly to say, we will visit sites though.

The teachers are the real hero's and students brave, what a awful choice to have to make just to live each day.

I choose to conduct our training in Bangkok or Yala, the teachers sadly don't get to choose, they get up and bravely go off each day, as do the students, and are hero's for doing so.

The teacher is badly hurt, will get better, our staff are still very sad this happened only 2 weeks after launching.

If anyone is interested to learn more, like Hugh Jarse, send me a email, [email protected] if that is ok by mods.

  9. Terrible news. :D

The choice of target shows the character of the insurgents. :o

Nothing but respect for the unarmed teachers who are trying to help people in the face of armed barbarians. :D

Some good news, turns out when the shooting started everyone ran, the teacher somehow managed to survive, however the villager the teacher was with died, hence the headmasters confusion who had died. Still one too many!

30 schools shut next week, fair enough, but the kids get punished it seems.

  10. Not sure if anyone that interested, I've posted a few weeks ago how Sat-Ed had launched it's education on demand project in the deep south,

Sadly when you work in the tough areas we have chosen too, the news will not always good, and when we held the training day in Bangkok a few weekends back for teachers and heads from the schools in the South, we sadly expected but hoped we would never hear this.

Last night I received the following message re the South Schools project Sat-Ed is deploying,

"Headmaster from Bankaemae Naratthiwat just rang me. Insurgent just kill his teacher in front of his school. Now 30 Schools in Ampher Rakhae Narathiwat closed. He will now install our system next week. He said he is confident that our system will really help teacher and student."

We will send a message of condolence from Sat-Ed.

The important point is they do have faith in the system helping them, and that is an important message for us to remember and build upon, and not stop bringing education to those who need it the most, regardless.
