  1. Well, I've been using baht buses and motorcy taxis in Pattaya for 11 years. Concern about always having a good supply of 10's and 20's is just part of the drill. I never thought about the washing machine places... I'll give that idea a try.

I sometimes have motorbike taxis speed off with out giving proper change back. However, I don't remember ever having that happen with a baht bus. When I must give a twenty I extend my limb with the 20 into the cab and the second the driver touches the 20 my hand turns palm up and stays there until 10 baht is placed in my palm... never a problem.

The prices charged by the motorbike taxis has doubled in the past 5 or 6 years. I think that is reasonable

It has been about 10 years since the baht buses went from 5 to 10 baht. I think it is time for them to increase rates. Should it go up to 15 or 20 baht? 20 baht seems more manageable for me, but too much for the Thai folks. In a perfect world the Thai should pay less, IMHO.

  2. About a year ago the CAT people told me that Sophon BB was now the marketing agent for CAT HiNET. The folks st SophonBB told me that, yes, same/same.

I have been using SophonBB in South Pattaya for a about a year and the service is very good. International speeds are inconsistent but generally okay. I have the Premium 2/1 at 1690tb per mo.

When I went in to their office in January and was chatting with the new lady who speaks English well, she said that they plan to upgrade their service soon but she didn't know what that "upgrade" would be.

  3. The Queen's Project opposite Tops (as above) has both fully dried and partially dried small tomatoes. But beware that the fully dehydrated cherry tomatoes are laced with sugar.

This shop has great veggies in an impressive variety (for Pattaya.) I think they get deliveries on Fridays.

  4. I'll bet the OP was referring to Planters Dry Roasted peanuts or similar. Both the dry and oil cooked have 22% fat. Planters dry roasted ingredients:

Ingredients: PEANUTS, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF: SEA SALT, SPICES (CONTAINS CELERY), DRIED ONION, DRIED GARLIC, PAPRIKA, NATURAL FLAVOR, SUGAR, GELATIN, TORULA YEAST, CORNSTARCH, DRIED CORN SYRUP, MALTODEXTRIN.

  5. I've been in Pattaya for 10 years and one of the reasons I don't go out much is the old time music from the 60's and 70's in so many of the bars... Its like being locked in a time warp. The Blues Factory is one exception (that I know of). Yes, yes, I know about the discos, but I don't want to go out dancing with a walker (aluminium.)

  6. The mafia plays hard-ball here.

Depression - as in feeling helplessly, well, helpless - can sometimes be a realistic assessment. Maybe it could have been worse (more needlessly painful) for the guy to try to stay alive. One could make the point that he may have chosen his death rationally. Weird as it may seem, he might be deserving of congratulations and honor.

    Just saying...
