  1. My wife was in the massage business in central Thailand and she claims that all Thai do tip. Most shops that cater to the Thai charge 150 - 200 for a one or two hour standard Thai massage. Generally that fee is split 50/50. Thai will usually tip 20 baht per hour; sometimes more. No tip is considered rude.

If a farong/tourist did not tip for an at least half-way decent massage, it would be just wrong.

Personally I tip 50 to 100 baht depending on the quality of the work.

I just don't understand cheap charlies. I guess I'm flawed.

  2. I still do not accept burritos containing rice as being Mexican food. But, apparently, JT, you know Mexicans who disagree with me. I have not polled Mexicans about burritos containing rice - and I admire your integrity - so I differ to your judgement. Let them eat rice! (If it is white, greasy rice.)

  3. I don't know what you mean by "reasonable pricing", but they are certainly not for the frugal freddie types unless you attend their special promotions...and then they are of marginal "great" value, IMHO. Products are mostly okay and some very okay. Great staff! I want them to succeed.

  4. No matter what the circumstances were, Jarle was a good hearted man. Yes, sometimes he drank too much and, yes, he had been known to occasionally become belligerent...

However, he valued fairness and strove to live a just and honest life. And Jarle was kind to the very best of his ability. Jarle expected to die in Thailand (under different circumstances) and he intended to secure his companion/girlfriend's future as best he could . I doubt he did anything to help this very lovely woman survive without him. I hope I'm wrong.

Jarle's life and specially his business "adventures" and challenges are the stuff that would make a good novel. Or at the very least a blistering expose regarding some very nasty "business" going on around here.

Anyway, Jarle was very, very Jarle.

    RIP, Jarle...
