  1. My new employer has informed me that they require me to obtain a Thai police clearance certificate.

I am based in Nonthaburi and plan on travelling into the city to get it done today or tomorrow. From their website here  https://pcscenter.sbpolice.go.th/en am I correct in thinking that all I am required to bring is the application form, the testimony memorandum, a copy of my passport and a copy of my work permit?

Does anyone have recent experience of visiting the police headquarters to get this done? Am I missing any other documents?

I just don't want to get a taxi all the way there to be told that I a missing a letter from the school or something else.

    Cheers

  2. I've seen it mentioned a few times here on the forum so I was a bit surprised when I saw the 'channel list' on their website as it doesn't look all that extensive especially when it comes to sport.

I would generally be using it for sport in particular football and rugby and some general UK tv.

It's funny to see how different countries tackle the COVID situation.

Here in Denmark we dropped all restrictions, even if the numbers of positive are through the roof.

We are only 5.8 million, and yesterday we had 55.000 positive cases! (Only 26 in ICU)

If Thailand had the same numbers of infections that would add up to 650.000 daily cases in Thailand, since they have 12x as many people.

I can't even imagine what kind of restrictions Thailand would have if they officially tested 650.000 positive in a single day....

But here we move on with life with no restrictions.

Hopefully Thailand will some day too.

Well it's pretty simple 650,000 cases daily would cause a  breakdown of health services, it seems like a pretty normal reaction for Thais to expect someone to wear a mask for a little longer. Schools are largely open, places of business apart from gogo bars and massage joines are open, pubs are open until 11, really are the restrictions so bad here at the moment?

  4. I had a bad experience there last year as well. The doctor just tries to give you as many products as possible without proper information, I ended up leaving there with a load of random rubbish in a bag and quite a hefty bill for it. None of it helped my symptoms.

I don't think I would bother the lengthy trip there again even if they were giving it away for free.

Not at all. My post comes from 30 years of experience. I was addicted to marijuana for years and like you i had read that it was not additive. What a lie.

I actually quit by accident because i got a throat infection i was unable to smoke anymore. It was hard at first, then after 6 months my throat got better so i tried to smoke again. But by that time i had gained some perspective. I started smoking again and realized i was no happier last week than when i didn't smoke.  I realizes it was a waste of money and time.

You can go to a nice view point and smoke a joint and say wow it is so beautiful. But guess what - you don't need it.  You can still go to that view point and look at the beach or lake and still feel high. Just relax.

Then after a year of not smoking you start to realize how bad marijuana is really.  Paranoid. I saw some teenagers who had just smoked and they all scared i was cop or something. LOL. You see the pot head who smokes everyday and he is in a state of confusion and depression.  Someone shows up for a job and they are completely incompetent because they are stoned and then soon fired. Their memory is so poor. These are not minor side effects. These are VERY bad psychological effects.   Paranoia is something schizophrenics experience!

After not smoking for a year or longer you will never go back because it will be clear to you if you previously smoked everyday.  Marijuana is  highly addictive for many people, you can see the crime gangs and mafia who are getting rich from it. Many people have lost their lives too, getting shot in simple marijuana deals.  These are things people must understand.

I though it was only ex-alcoholics who spoke in this weird condescending way?

It's fine, the rest of us are quite able to control our own impulses and have a few joints every so often and leave it at that.

Mental health checks, not to treat the murderer but only to hope and get away with a lower sentencing. I'd be following up the rest of my life if this happened to one of my friends here, the guy would never get a day of rest if getting away with easy jail sentence.

Yet we all know that killers here walk free within just a few years while someone who used drugs can be in for life. However would a farang been the killer; 20-30 years behind bars.

This country start to disgust me more and more. If I only could bring my child abroad, i'd been gone.

A bloke walking around with a sickle at 4 a.m. looking to attack people isn't a normal event. What a weird rambling post.
