  1. Could it be that some of these beers aren't expected to be successful longterm? Every time someone sees or talks about Issan Beer the word Singh is heard. Couldn't this be what it is all about? There have been a lot of beers which have come and gone over time.

If the beer moves and does become popular enough, I suggest Singh figure out how to put a chili in the bottle without ruining the taste and when it has its beer gardens it should always offer customers glasses with a red glass chilli on the bottom. It worked for Tequila, it'll work here.

  2. What about China's currency? Isn't it sure to appreciate eventually? There must be some currencies out there which are stabile. Oil is God now. If the world keeps growing like it does the stuff won't cheapen much. It could go much higher in my view. China puts 7 -8 million cars a year on their roads. Most countries seem to be going the capitalist way. To me oil looks pretty secure. "They aren't making any more land." In some places land prices must be pretty secure.

Your original basket of currencies idea seems pretty good to me as well. Does that bank offer any middle eastern currencies? Seems like some of those countries are looking pretty good with the oil supplies they have for the near future. And the more money they make off the oil the less they'll want the radicals living in their midst to be around to ruin their parties, another bonus of money flowing in.

  3. Why am i responding to this old rag? Coz we can accept the truth? There's definitely something to it. Why would you be with a Thai girl at all if looks didn't matter. Every culture has its programming. Back in the US, I'd say in the past a lot of the older folks were programmed to go for the blonds with big chests and a beefy booty. I grew up in the 70s myself watching Bruce Lee and Godzilla movies. I know you'll laugh but somethign about Asian women caught me way back then. Then there were all the Vietnam War movies with the beautiful darker-skinned beauties. Nowadays kids are watching prime-time TV filled with beautiful black and Latino women.

As for so many guys hooking up with dark-skinned women, well most Thai women are dark skinned unless you live in Bangkok. A lot of the Northern Thais are dark skinned too by the way. It's more likely that a foreigner will meet a dark skinned woman doing things in his daily life.

Opposites do attract also. One of my best friends in the US, a short dark-skinned Guatamalan guy, is nuts over tall blonds. I guess he should have become a fashion designer.

I definitely have a thing for petite dark-skinned women (both young and old). I married one and the others always catch my eye. Of course, other women are attractive too but never as much as the dark-skinned ones. Doctor can ya help me?

  4. There's an issue here but at the same time there are so many more flags and icons that are in our society which we don't seem to care about. What about Trojan marching bands and Russian flags? The romans murdered many. Stalin murdered 6 million too. Some people might see military uniforms in general as a symbol of murder - should civilians really wear them? Confederate flags represent slavery? Could the the American flag be a symbol of oppression? What does the US flag mean to Vietnamese people - 2 million died in that war? Should Disney really be promoting films about Pirates who were mostly murderers? Doesn't a skull and cross bones represent death? What about nooses? That's a big story in the US right now. Diamonds and gold have come at the cost of the deaths of million around the world. What are the flags of the imperialist murderers of Europe? How many deaths does it take to get a flag banned? The whole thing is hypocrisy.

If the swastika is no big deal then I'm sure that you could put it as you avatar and after a while no one would complain. We all have different programming. Sometimes freedom is good but then again sometimes it's better no to use your freedom.

  5. All the best with this. Sounds like taking your daughter with you and hiring help to raise her would be the best option. In my opinion leaving her with your wife would not really be showing her love if you think your wife is not responsible. Just curious who took care of your daughter at home? It's a heck of a lot of work to run after a 2 or 3 year old all the time. My wife does it and it wears her out.

  6. They'll look fat. Of course, some Thai police are quite fit but then there are loads who are tubby. The light color will make them look quite fat. And their shirts won't last or look good for long once they start sweating in the sun. I bet this is another 'great idea' that costs cash then is in short time booted.

  7. Nepotisim and cronyism have always been here. The Chinese started entering the Thai government just as Thailand was taking off with development. There were lots more offices opening up around the country which needed staffing. Go out to the middle of Esarn and check out some of the government offices and you'll find that Chinese-Thais are probably running them. As for the modeling, fashion in Thailand, that's a laugh in my view. You can see that some of the models that walk the runways have nothing special too them. They probably are just connected to someone in the shows. They've watched fashion TV and they take what they've seen and their personal arrogance and strike a pose. In other places the models act arrogant but here the arrogant act like models.

Overall, the media does have an effect. Just as the media coming out of America has had a major impact on the world the pop culture being pushed through the media here has an impact. The young kids flock to the J-pop and K-pop. It all comes and goes in and out of style. It's funny that Chinese pop music doesn't seem to be as popular with young chinese thais as taht from other east asian countries.

As for the stats of 200,000 PRC people in country on visa now, well, that must have some influence on the country. It is easy for Asians to pay cash for residency/ citizenship here from what I have heard. Corruption is at home here. It's too bad the people with real power here don't stop the corruption.

  8. I know the type of women he's talking about. His brief description of her instantly brought an image to my mind. It's funny how these 'hiso' women seem to stick out but the men don't. The hiso thing really is just a fashion statement for withering old monied women who are seen by the masses as useless. There were people like them in the west but they are extremely hard to find nowadays. You can see a whole lot of them decked out in silks singing on Thai TV at around 4am or so. That old Australian lady on the moring English-laguage talk show on Thai TV is one of their western clones.

Supermarkets in Thailand are the most healthy enviroments. I was walking through Topps two hours ago and one of the salesladies who offers free samples was standing next to her stand clipping her fingernails. It was ridiculous. Here in Thailand people do this because they don't know anything about standards of cleanliness. If someone did it in the West, it would have to be some sort of a protest.

  9. I admire those who can eat vegan-style and avoid leather and other animal products in every day life. It's impossible to live without killing something but those do their best to keep the pain and deaths to other animals down are usually respectable people in my view.

BTW I had some Indian students who were Sikh's. The ones with white turbans didn't eat meat they said but drinking milk was okay for them as they said it didn't harm animals. They really liked pizza as it was considered vegetarian to them. Amazingly at 16 years old, they were pretty heavily into pot. I saw one of them eating a hamburger once too. They also liked to play all the shoot-em-up video games.

  10. I'm leaning more towards sitting on the sidelines now. I can't see my stocks staying where they are. If I get out I'll save a little then I'll get back in when things aren't so crazy. Only the real experts can do well in this crazy up and down market. But of course the experts will insist that anyone can make a profit. There are endless articles: 10 stocks that will weather the storm. How you can profit from this market. Making money in a deary market. etc etc The market people want our money whether things are bad or good. I know a motorcylce shop owner who sells bikes; he's gald to sell them but would never let his own kids have one.

Generally the feeling from what I am hearing is that things aren't going to get better until sometime next year at the earliest. Maybe its better to wait after all.

  11. I put 5,000 into the stock market in the US via Ameritrade last November. I just wanted to play around to see how online trading worked. I bought quite a few cheap stocks including Ford which I thought might move in a positive direction. last month I got rid of some then bought a few more cheapies. In one year my 5k became 7,800. This was because of only one stock I picked which happened to go up ridiculously. Anyways like I said a put some of the monety from the sale back into another set of small stocks and over the course of about 25 days have lost 600 dollars so I am down to 7,200. Every trade on Ameritrade costs only 10 dollars. All my stocks are going down right now except one. I could sell out and sit on the sidelines to preserve what little I made or I could keep my stocks and hope for th best. Either way I won't gain or lose much money. So what the heck should I do, sell what few stocks I have now? The sale of all my stocks would probably cost 100 bucks then I would be able to sit back for a few months or I could stay in and possibly see half the value of my money go. I guess I probably should sell if profit is important. Why am i so hesitant to do so? Should I get out now and keep my change? Yikes!? Someday I hope to be as wealthy as Warren Buffet. Ha Ha.

By the way, the stock which di me well was EXM, a shipping stock. Last year it was worth 12 dollars then it went up and up to 84 I believe. I got spooked and sold it at 76. Now its worth 40-something.

    Nothing is simple anymore.

  12. Everyone should be required by law to possess two acres of land which can be developed. At birth each government should give two acres of land to its new citizen. From that day on that person legally must own two acres. It must be impossible for them to sell the land and have less. They may change the land for other land which they prefer more but they cannot have less than two acres. It's really up to them to develop the land or leave it as wilderness. With this concept all people will have something. Even a hobo living on the street will have two acres somewher in his name. If you don't want to do anything with the land you got at birth, you could rent it to someone, switch your land for farmland and let someone farm it, you could hold wilderness land to protect the environment, etc.

Requiring everyone to hold a part of the planet, would be much better than just letting those with money or brains have it all. As long as assets get you things then violence will always be one of the assets used to get things. No one would have to die poor, a slave, or landless on this planet.

If governments really care about people and want more then they should change the way we are living and give those who come into this world no matter what country they are born into a chance. Guarantee land to all people now.

  13. I speak Thai 99% of the time with my wife and kid! My daughter does know a little English though. Right now the wife and kids are upcountry and I am in rotten old Bangkok. We talk on the phone everyday. My wife doesn't have a formal education in English so Thai gets to the point much more quickly. My wife tries to use some Thai with the little one. I hope to be with them soon but I am tied to BKK right now.

  14. Yeah! This is the land of the happy people! Send him back to his home.

Heaven isn't boring, only hel_l is. This place is heaven. Everyone smiles, feels incredibly happy all the time, enjoys every meal, makes billions in the markets, has perfect love in their life, and more. Right now, I feel absolutely wonderful! Look at my skin glow! Woohoo! Woohoo! Questions don't exist in heaven because everyone knows everything! Woohoo!

  15. Air Conditioning...

Okay this is probably a stupid question but is it better to leave the air conditioner on if you are out of the room for an hour rather than shut it off? Someone said to me one that turning it on and off all the time actually wastes more energy because starting it up consumes more than keeping it going. What's you opinion of this? Do your coworkers turn it on and off all day?

    Computers...

What about computers as well are there any advantages to leaving them on?

  16. I think the dreary gray and naval grey blue colors add to the boredom a bit. Not having ads on the side of the page with enticing debutants also has an effect. It would be nice if the poster who starts the thread could select background music for the thread. of course, this thread would have something depressing playing though.

This morning I ate a load of that fried garlic. I bought a bag at lotus and had put some in a plastic container in the frige. I had a spoonful and then another and another and I ended up eating a load of the stuff. I know it sounds wierd. All day long I have been farting up a storm. I often wonder whether I fart more than other people.

The other day I was looking online for something I remembered my grandmother saying to me as a kid. "Listen to you Auntie Mabel, keep those elbows off the table" I thought there would be more to it but I only found one other saying. The other saying I hadn't heard before; it's pretty good. " Listen to you Aunt Rose, get that finger out of your nose" Stop picking!
