I'm 65, married to my wife for 5 years and been together for 8 years. I am also a PTSD patient, so a good nights sleep is almost unheard of for me. My problem is getting up 2-3 times a night to go pee. Getting older is not easy and adapting to the rapidly changing environment we live in makes things that much harder. I think growing old, becoming less healthy and dying (possibly alone) in a foreign country is a concern for many. Evaluate your situation, rely on the advice and counsel of some trusted friends and do what is best for you.

Leave the kid alone, it's nothing to do with him and this is not news.
Agreed. Children lack the ability to defend themselves against comments made because a parent is a prominent politician or other high profile individual.

I have a 2012 Pajero Sport, 2.5 L diesel. While it is not a sedan, it handles well and is very comfortable. I would think that you will only find diesels in SUV and trucks here unless you go to a high end sedan like a Mercedes.

Always select local post office delivery method. NEVER DHL or FedEx. The hassle free experience is worth the wait.
I could not disagree more strenuously...

I worked 20 years in the air freight industry. You are certainly welcome to refuse the shipment.
If the package is coming from the vendor you bought from and not an intermediary 3rd party (like a package shipped to a relative first and forwarded to you), you will likely stand liable for freight in both directions AND any duty & tax levied by the Thai Customs department.
If it is coming from a third party, you can refuse it, it will be returned and the 3rd party sending it will stand liable for freight charges. My suggestion is bite the bullet and accept charges.
My wife and I are currently in the US on vacation. We sent some COACH brand bags as gifts for family. Thai Customs wanted to assess duty and tax on the full retail. When we produced documents from the store showing actual price paid, duty dropped to just under B600.00. Keep those invoices...they can become your best friend.

You don't have to leave the country every 3 months. I am married to a Thai and have not left the country for almost 9 years.
The last time I left the country was to get a single entry non-o visa. I then applied for a one year extension stay based upon marriage of the 90 day entry from it. Now on my 9th consecutive extension of stay.
I am guessing he has not changed over to a Non-O Marriage extension of visa and is using a straight Non-O that requires a border crossing every 90 days.

For years police have been trying to enforce the wearing of helmets on motorbikes.
That hasnt worked, neither will this 1.
The only way that will ever occur is to confiscate the scooters for several days with a hefty fine.

There's always an exception. I know a thai man who would give up a month's salary for a Russian woman.
For me, I have had a thing for Asian women ever since I first saw Nancy Kwan in The World of Suzie Wong. Some call it "yellow Fever." I came to Thailand the first time 46 years ago this month. I've lived here the last 12 years. Something brought me back and it wasn't elephant treks. The eyes and the smiles get me first.

I will be gone for four months, returning in September. I will give it a shot in another week or so. Thanks much!

I am hoping someone can give me a definite answer, how far ahead of expiration can I renew my 5 year driver licenses?
I have been told up to 6 months ahead but got a totally different story when I hit the LTO at Soi 62 in Bangkok. I am headed stateside soon and need to get this done before I leave or be in a crunch when I return.
Thanks in advance,

Lick your wounds dry your tears and go find another place to live...if you can. Methinks you may have just screwed yourself on living anywhere in CNX...

The main problem is lack of proper driver training. Any idiot can handle a wheel but it takes training, patience and common sense to be a professional driver. The anything for a dollar mentality has to be replaced with a decent wage for trained drivers. Being paid per run is a prescription for disaster. Drivers must be mandated to follow certain strict DOT transport driver guidelines. Now, do you want to know why this will never happen? TiT - and status quo will remain until the public screams for change. the public won't scream for change either because TiT and Mai pen lai is the order of the day.
So the carnage continues....

Seems to me 1555 is Tourist Police. We can report but how will they respond unless we have a way to photograph and send pics. I am guessing it's too much trouble for the BiB to get off their collective arse and do their job?

Certainly not being done in BKK. I just renewed my visa, re-entry permit and 90 days. The only additional form I had to submit was an offical request to move my visa from my old passport to my new one.

UPDATE: I Just went to do my 90 days report. Last 2 reports were done on line with no issue. I recently got a new passport and transferred my visa to the new book. Everything updated fine EXCEPT 90 days reporting. Seems the left hand is not talking to the right hand. In order to use the online 90 day report you must leave the country and return...or trot your happy ass to immigration every 90 days.
Side note regarding the bruhaha over a new form asking for all kinds of personal data. I filled out no such form and saw no one else filling anything extra either.

FedEx merely acts as the transporter to be picked up on this end.Hi. Did anyone recently have a FedEx parcel delivered on Samui? I had a package sent to me from the US using USPS GXG, which is outsourced to FedEx. According to USPS tracking it cleared customs and is expedited for delivery. But I have no idea about the customs duties to pay, nor how it will be delivered on Samui. Calling FedEx proved useless, as they can't find anything without a FedEx tracking number, which I do not have, only the USPS tracking number. I wondered if FedEx does the delivery themselves or outsource it to EMS or Kerry. Anyone any experience?
Another package sent to me with FedEx last week had a higher customs value, so due to Songkran they couldn't register with customs on time to organize the clearance. So I ordered a third party freight company to do the clearance, pick the parcel from BKK FedEx office and forward it with Thai Air Cargo to Samui. They managed everything in a day, whereas it would have taken FedEx a week at least.

It has been spelled U-Tapao since the mid 60s. The spelling variations have some form many doifferent points of view on correct English transliterations. For example, Jomtien has been seen as Chomtian, Chom Tian, Chomtien. The sign on the aiport terminal should be good enough for all. Use the IATA ~ UTP.

How did he finance his stay?
I'm betting he supported himself by the same means he is wanted...

The kids learn precious little now. shortening the school day will only fill up the internet shops and have others causing havoc in the malls....not a wise move.

Would be nice of the authorities to let visa runners know before possibly finding themselves in trouble.
What a mess of a country.
I don't know how much consideration has been given to coming here with a proper visa in the first place but that would help alleviate some of the troubles.

Lets hope there are no casualties, or injured people to be counted for.
Its usualy the vunarable who get caught in construction disasters.
fingers crossed!
The sad thing is that electrical was mentioned and these sites are notorious for tapping in to the power lines for the
freestolen electric service. The people doing this are more than likely not certified electricians....let's hope no injuries or fatalities.
Best time to do 90 day reporting at Chaengwattana?

As Ubon Joe stated, avoid Mondays and Fridays. Personal experience says get there around 0800 for the 0830 opening. There will be 2-300 people in line but it gets in quick. Have your forms filled out and with some luck, you will be in and out by 1000-1030. Worst case scenario is noon.
