  1. Forgot to add I live in Pattaya about 200 meters from the CAT building. Not sure anymore about how I actually access the internet (sorry brain not there anymore). I have a router I think. Pretty sure it is not like the old modems. Turn on the computer and I'm connected right away to the internet. I think it is probably through CAT. Hope this helps you guys to help me unscramble this mess. Thanks

  2. Hi

Normally you are not bound and can use any Internet Service provider.

The only problem is where your Web site and Email server are hosted ?

Are they with Loxinfo or CAT ?

    Tariq

My email is with Loxinfo and I have an old website on Loxley for the past 10 years. But I also have Gmail and Hotmail accounts.

    Thanks for the reply.

  3. Hi guys. Sorry about this post, but ever since I had 3 heart attacks, my brain housing group (memory) isn't working too well.blink.png

I've had an account with Loxinfo for about 12 years and I still pay for it. I also have CAT subscription which costs around 1300 baht per month. I've had this CAT account for about 7 years.

Question is: do I need both of them or can I cancel one (perhaps Loxinfo since many emails I send don't make it out to US government addresses and even to Yahoo accounts, among others. There are also many websites I cannot access. I'll be darned if I can remember these basic answers to my question. Hope you guys can help.

  4. Hi guys. I don't know whether to post this in the motorcycle forum, classifieds, sports, etc., so since I live in Pattaya, I decided to just post it here. I'm sure the mods will move it to where they feel it is appropriate!

I have a genuine NFL Denver Broncos football helmet, brand new and still in the box that my brother carried here for me from Colorado. I intended to use it as a motorcycle helmet. It is beautiful and it was a great idea. But, the damn thing is to small for my big head. The thing cost more than $300 dollars. I think I'd like to sell it or if not just use it as an ornament to look at when I am watching the Broncos play (when I'm lucky). I guess I'd like to get around 6000 baht for it, but am amenable to offers. Anyone interested please pm me.

    Thanks

  5. Hi guys. Have any of you have any experience ordering hearing aids from the USA using the Veteran's Administration, Foreign Medical Program? If so, can you advise me on procedures and any pitfalls to look out for? I am 100% service connected disabled and definitely need hearing aids.

    What did you say? What?

  6. My flight leaves for Thailand in 10 hours. I am already at a Denver airport hotel. I forgot my Metformin (diabetic pills) and I live too far from Denver (Estes Park) to go back and get some.

Does anyone know if metformin is sold in Pattaya and if so, will this political mess hamper me being able to get some? Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.

Metformin is very widely used around the world. Surely you will find some in Thailand. They may come under the brand name Glucophage. Same same.

Sent you a PM. Also from EP but been here since 1969. Also use Metformin. Available everywhere in multiple dosages and much cheaper than USA I imagine? Have a great trip. Jeep in Pattaya

Forgot to add: You don't need a scrip to purchase it.

  7. Hi guys, I need to change some British Pounds to Baht. The pounds are more than 10 years old and I've had them hidden in my house for that time. My wife took a few to a couple of Bangkok Bank branches who said they were "too old". She took some to the money changer in Soi Rungland and they will exchange them but only give around 36 baht per pound! Anyone with any ideas on where else in Pattaya we could try to change them? There is more than 4,000 quid involved. Thanks for any ideas.

  8. Just a quick follow up - sorry for the delay.

Yes, we picked one up in Big C, and the Mother In Law loves it. :)

    THanks everyone for the input.

They still have a few there if anyone wants to grab one.

    Phil

Phil, any possibility that you could post a picture and price please? :jap:

  9. You are in luck, as (I think) the big fireworks display is being held on Dec 16th and 17th. If it's not postponed again! :annoyed:

Ah Robertsons, I've never forgiven the PC crowd for making them get rid of the Golly. I'll be looking out for some of their jams while I'm in Pattaya.

janverbeem, if you think mincemeat is strange, some British people also enjoy eating faggots !

    Here's the recipe:

    here you go;

at friendship in the Jam section and curiously also in the Sharwoods curry section

to quote a friend it seems Thais know as little about Mincemeat as many farangs on this board.........

Thank you for taking the trouble, much appreciated. Unfortunately, due to a death in the family, we have had to postpone the trip until 17th/18th December, (was supposed to be this weekend). Hope they have some left. :D

  11. For the last 4 or 5 days, the phone to Scoby's Pizza does not work. Tonight I sent my wife Dracula over there. She came back and said it was closed. Typically, when I asked her if there was a sign in the window or on the door, the normal blank stare came up. She said yes, there was a sign. Well, what did it say? My Loo!

Any of you guys know why it is closed?

  12. My wife wants to give the director of her university a gift for some admin help he gave her. For some reason, she has it in her head that high priced mens cologne from the USA or UK would be the appropriate present for him. She says she can't find any in Pattaya? While stumbling around stores in Pattaya, have you guys seen any shops that sell it here?

    TIA :)

  13. Also need to thank Monty (Eric) for the work he put in organizing the party. Well done. :D Also, how did it go at "The Blues Factory". I was the first one there at about 2130 and there was no one there. Hung around at the bar outside "The Blues Factory" so I could smoke and had one Jim Beam and Coke. The reason I only had one was because in normal Thai style, no customers so overcharge, it cost me 130 baht for a Jim Beam and Coke in a small glass! :D That is with NO atmosphere at all and unresponsive 2 Thai's that work there. It was only 80 baht for the drink at "The Beer Garden" and loads of atmosphere. The rest of you guys had just started to show up at around 2200 and Mary also showed up to sing about 5 minutes before that. Instead of going back inside, I stumbled off to the hospital for treatment of the heart attack I had after receiving the 130 baht bill for one drink! :)

So how'd the party go after you guys showed up?

  14. I live on the corner of 3rd Rd/S. Pattaya Road. I usually look out to see which member of the Royal Family is coming by when I hear those kinds of loud speakers and sirens from the police cars, so today when I heard the noise, I looked out my window and was about 50-60 meters from the happenings and looking down on it from my top floor. Here is what I saw.

I watched it live from my window upstairs. It was right here on my corner in front of Tony's night market on the corner. Not really a big deal. The first few vehicles of the procession passed through the intersection. Looked like Abhisit's driver wrongfully stopped for the red light and a lot of his motorcade came on through in front of my place without him. Then a red shirt motorcycle rider ran into and under Abhisit's car and he got mad and went after the driver saying it was the drivers fault. He didn't know at first that it was Abhisit in the car I don't think. Abhisit got out to transfer to another car and that's when the red shirts recognized it was him and they were all on their cell phones telling their friends to come help them. That's when it got a little hairy since there were cops and red shirts coming from all directions then. Actually, Abhisit didn't get touched but his car got the window smashed in with a helmet. Whole thing only lasted a couple of minutes. It's a wonder the cops didn't shoot anyone.
