Hi
I use a slow cooker.
1 part rice to 6 parts water. Add my chosen ingedients at the beginning. My own taste is minced chicken, garlic, thai basil, pepper, onions, nam bpla and oyster sauce but to each his own. I have also used minced pok or seafood.
I st the cooker at slow setting and just let it go. The longer that i cook the more like porridge thr rice becomes. Usually about 8 hours

Hi Ramrod,
Perhaps I used the wrong word in 'artifacts'.
The contents include some Thai wooden dancing puppets - not doubt mass produced. A Toby Jug. Some replica terricotta statues and a box of small vases.

Hi,
I have performed a 'search' but cannot find anything related . Perhaps I am using the incorrect 'keyword'.
I would like to have a box packaged 'fragile' to travel by air freight to the UK for my daughter. Nothing of significant value, but some items are fragile.
Does anyone have any experience of a packaging company and freight forwarder in Hang Don that they could recommend?
Many thanks,
Gladiator
p.s I would send by post but have dispatched many parcels before which have not arrived.

Sterile Olive Oil
If you cannot buy in any given pharmacy - 99 percent of olive oil will be sterile when the new bottle is opened. Just use it for wax removal purchase and once the wax has gone, discard and buy a new bottle if the wax recurs.
Ensure that the dropper, rubber syringe, water for flushing and container are sterile.

Morgan's Run
By Colleen McCullough - the author of The Thorn Birds.
The plot revolves around Richard Morgan from Bristol. The son on a pub and Innkeeper. Who leads a happy life up until the time he is falsely accused of theft and his world falls apart. He is sentenced to Gaol, initially in Bristol an then in Gloucester, before being shipped to form a colony at Botany Bay and Port Jackson in Australia. A great read.
The author also wrote The Thorn Birds, which I found difficult to get into but I will give it another try.

Did you post a picture? I don't see one/
No. These birds move very, very quickly - ducking diving over the roofs of the cars. I don't think that my camera is up to it.

They are on their holidays from China, they come every year around this time ,as its
warmer here and plenty of insects for them to feed on, also there used to be quite a
few Wagtails, and even Beeeaters, but don't see so many now.

Many thanks....

Hi,
Not sure as to how many of you travel down the Highway 108 ever day - but every day, for the last few years, I have see one of these birds (sorry do not know the Thai name) flying, fast and low, over the traffic waiting at the red light at the BIG C junction.
I am curious if anyone else has seen this and if anyone would know the reason.
Thanks in advance.

Head north from Chang Puak gate and when you see some white elephants on the opposite (right) side, pull over. There is a group of shoe shops there (on the left side going north) that have nice slip ons and dress shoesto size 13. One shop told me they can do custom work as well.

Hi,
The above is extracted from a previous topic and various posts.
I have the same situation in that I find it difficult to find larger shoes that may fit me. Admittedly I already a good pair of trainers, so really look for sports sandals or casual slip-ons. I drove up to these shops the other day and found a perfect fit of some rubber slip ons, comfortable and cool, even had an ankle strap. There were lots of other types of shoe ware there so you may just be lucky if you have the time to look at all of the shops.
Good luck

Hi,
I have sent you an email.
Khao No mountain and Wat Khao Lo some 50 km north of Nakhon Sawon. The 'mountain' and surrounding hills are total'y contrary to the rice plains all around and make for very dramatic scenery. There is a path going to the top of the mountain and a cave and Buddha Image there. At around 1800 thousands of bats fly out of another cave into the night sky. There are many legends of ghosts and and haunting.
Cheers,

I have written a number of English language, Thailand and Chiang Mai related, fiction short stories (approximately 3000 words) and published for free reading on smashwords.com and free-ebooks.net.
Although I did not purposefully write with English students in mind – it may well be that they might be useful for ‘Reading and Comprehension’ exercises.
Should you wish to PM me I will gladly provide you with the details. I am continuing to write and add to these stories.
I am a Thailand based English teacher, hold a TEFL certificate and am an oral examiner for ESOL

Good Morning All!
Kids Tough As Old Boots - Don Cook
I consider myself fortunate, as to where I live there is an AUA library with quite a good selection of reading material. Buying books, both new and used, can be expensive. Although, I am an author and have published many books on e-books format - my budget does not extend to purchasing a Kindle or Android.
Anyway - I am somewhat of a mongrel/hybrid with mixed lineage. My Mum was English and the above book details life and conditions in her time before WW2, in England. I found it compelling reading and I hope that you may also do so.
All of the very best at this seasonal time of year!

A different world - a different time.... but! ....

After the conclusion of conducting some teachers training course in the south, I retired to the seaside town of Hua Hin, on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand, to lick my wounds.
I had taken no reading material with me other than the technical manuals but found an old copy of 'Spy Hook' from the Bernard Sampson trilogies, at Hotel Reception reception, by Len Deighton.
Not sure if you are familiar with his writings but he was an inspiration for me as a teenager. Like many of us I enjoyed Ian Fleming's books but somehow the unnamed anti-hero (later to become Harry Palmer) in 'The Ipcress File', and later novels, rang home.
Deighton is quite a multi-skilled character and apart from being an excellent fiction writer - is an accomplished military historian, an artist and a great cook. In fact his book - 'The Action Cook Book', for men - based upon his series in 'The Observer'' and Ou Est Le garlic, inspired me to try my hand at culinary skills.

Re-reading most of Bill Bryson's works.... currently on 'The Life and times of the Thunderbolt Kid'

Also -
'A Box of Alan Bennett'

- Father Father Burning Bright
Not everyone's 'cup of tea... but an interesting insight into post-WW2 U.K.

I can see the problem of asking for it by name. Ive seen it in quite a few supermarket/liquor stores down here, does not help you I know.
Appears that its a Thai 'Whiskey' distilled from rice grain. Just wondered why you needed to buy some.
Emergency back-up alcohol & Conversation piece.
Although I have not seen the 'Black Cock', distilled from rice grain - both Tesco Lotus and Big C stock 'Red Cock' which has the same logo, all be it designed with red and blue colouring.
