wait and see and stop speculating. To much fake news and speculating right now. Thailand is now in Panic Mode and does make the same mistake like many many countries (let ppl travel big time in the country for Songkran) instead of closing up BKK. The only person acting seems the Govenor of BKK. Where do the clowns hide?
However the virus will now be spread to the poor and populated areas of Thailand so expect a disaster. Hopefully Thai Airways will eventually go bankrupt now as it is long overdue, no more money into there, the money is needed for the ppl. So a cleaning effect takes place also.
Thailand will open up for Chinese tourist asap bcs. all the crisis everywhere in the world in respond is not about the ppl it is about the business. So everything in the world is down to money. Just look at the US where the Nutter underlined that business has to continue as usual at any cost. Any cost here mean it deos not matter if a few ppl die for the 'good'. However Corona will hopefully wipe that President out by loosing the elections due to his attempt to twitter Corona away.
The world is in a sad state but it is distgusting to see how everything is done not for the ppl but for the holy grail of economy. Having said this I am personally out of business now as all my customers in my country had to close down. What ever happens I do not know, but if the whole world does not shut down for 2 weeks alltogther at least the virus will spread further. So let those Chinese come...it will not make a big difference but Thailand is one of those countries on the virge. No tourism and all goes down the drain....and when Corona is over the mass demonstrations will start in T for good reasons and more reason just evolving.....good times ahead for T

yes I agree, Japan will be same Thailand with a very high dark number. It is their mentality. They go work half dead bcs you do not stay on sick leave there. Japan did all wromng actually to.
The worst of all is UK and US. Just follow the figures in the next 2 weeks. They both will have a tremendeous amount of deaths. But Maybe that what they want. Helps the pension schemes in the future maybe they think. Germany, well, I am actually unsure. Yes I do see problems here in Germany (where I am right now) and ppl still not seem to understand enough that they should not socialize and yes I also believe by the end of the day we all have to care of ourselves as the system will not. However we do have the lowest fatality rate. Also when you look at JHU charts remeber the size of the countries when you look at the figures. They do not show percentages there unfortunatley. There is a fair amount of ppl that say now a curview does not help anymore. Maybe it helps at any stage maybe not, I cannot say. For the economy and especially small business what heppens here is a desaster. We will wait and see how the gov really helps.

contact them on facebook, they react there within 30 min and try to find out more, it actually helps to a point sometimes

I heard that the Britsh Government bought land to be able to burry all the dead from that virus. Yes you could call it pragmatic..... I think the way the UK deals with the Virus is worse or similar to Thailand. The UK will end up same or worse then Italy, that is actually clear already looking at statistics. And yes even specialized hospitals already run out of ventilators and have not even had a number of cases. But yeah all those old people that voted for this Johnson nutter to leave the EU for a better life will soon feel what it means....in my opinion the UK and the US, Thailand and Japan are dealing inresponsible with the issues and they will face the consequences on this soon. BTW Mr. J and Mr. T seem to be brothers(?)

Emirates constantly updates their website and there are already many options for free change of flights. They are really on top the situation. So go to website, read and then may ring the call center.

just looking at some facts and adding common sense and what we learnt over the past few weeks should tell us that the case numbers in Thailand can be questioned. Shortly before shut down of Wuhan loads of Chinese from THERE were in Thailand for holiday. Also not enough testing in T as they cannot afford to show to many case not to get on ban lists. When you look at the IATA list you can find quite some countries where T is on the watchlist (same as Japan) bcs. both in my mind have a high dark rate due to not a lot of testing and down to mentality. Also why we hear about rasing cases in Thai hospitals with 'viral penumonia'?

5 hours ago, Nip said:I disagree. If the rest of the world does not agree with military rule why has the rest of the world bowed down before this unelected military government, including my own. It's called trade nobody wants to mess up trade. Thailand is in control of its own wealth and I bet every single foreign diplomat in Thailand has on his embassy wall a photo of him shaking hands with Cha Cha Cha in goverment house. Embassies are TRADE Missions don't think for a moment they are here for their citizens. They support unelected military rule.
I disagree with you and I do not know which is your embassy but my embassy supported and supports him to best means possible. There were a few embassies that went with him to the police station much to the anger of the foreign ministry who got their anger answered with a hint to the Geneva Convention. I can tell you that Germany (and some others) do keep a close eye on what is happening.

Well, well, well, there is tooo many villas on Samui now and the occupancy overall dropped and did NOT increase. Villas and Hotles have the same problem, the junta took care of it.... Many Villas have no booking for christmas and new year which both were somehow farang seasons. It compares somehow with in the past were '100' villas and '60' groups booked it, now it is '200' villas and '40' groups that book it, if that makes sense. Villas live from the amount of ppl they can take up. Chinese like 10 ppl villas so that brings the price down per person and they get the benefit you were describing
The bridge is a 'story' coming up avery 5 years. It will not happen. Like many things will not happen anymore. All this was foreseeable here in Samui
Yes Bangkokair is part of the problem. If the stae would buy up the airport that would maybe ease the problem. However they took the big investment and want the payback. They will post the second quater loss soon.

Hotels like Anantara and W have their bookings for the season, but I have heard the Hansar (nice 4 Star at Bophut Beach) is currently laying off staff....I can confirm what Mario says...but construction still ongoing even on larger scale as those ppl did not make their homework or left brain at the airport I assume. Sales of homes and land dropped to nearly zero.
After this season (end Jan/mid Feb) it certainly will show proof how bad it is and the pressure on the government will grow further...actually the Samui ppl had some plan a few years ago but those ppl stepping in did sort of kill all of that initiatives

the usual BS as we all know

I got some paper all in Thai from some government body refering to my BKK Condo that seems to relate to it. I checked with google photo translater but to difficult with that. I do not know what that paper is about exactly and do not know whether I need to act on that. However the english description by BDO talk about ppl where the name is in the hosebook. I am farang so canot put name in the house book. How is thios ganno be treated? Dual tier as so often in T? Also where do I find the valuation of my condo that it is refferd to, however market valaue is well below the 40 mentioned
