I was a bit stiff with Goldstein adn Jenkins yet had scorers on the sidelines but cannot tell if they contribute or not.
Will to shuffle things around a bit already.

Do the interchange players count?

You 're welcome. No idea why they moved.

Does crowd noise influence the umpires?

A game most probably didn't see so will bang on for a bit. Ess and Brisbane proved to be a lucky escape for the bombers. Seven goals up in the second quarter, they managed to hand that lead back in the third. I will say from a point of bias that regaining the lead and winning was good as typically the fast starts end up in a deflating loss.
Eric Hipwell, a young Brissy forward is one to watch. Tall, thin and great hands will kick a lot of goals once he sorts out his kicking action. Intensity is a funny thing too. Once brisbane raised theirs, easily took the ascendancy. Their midfield still has some grunt with Beams, Zorko and Rocky but just not consistent enough. Rich barely sighted last night.
Ruck and the centre clearances will be an ongoing issue for the bombers. Lost control of the game here and desperately need assistance for McKernan who is not a ruckman but a handy part timer. Where improvement is obvious is assistance for young Daniher. Fantasia kicked five and four last week seems to be the real deal and will attract attention as his contract expires this year. Cale Hooker is rewarding the first 22 for staying and will cause headaches for defensive line ups. Man love of the moment is Tippawutti. Don't hear him coming but hits hard. THe game needs that physical pressure and its consequences. Anyhow the crowd has adopted him too, pardon the pun, and despite a few frees against causes turnovers with pressure. Game is a better spectacle.
Carlton ahead for the red and black so big game there. Always a fifty fifty and 1999 prelim hangin' over essendon's head at the G.

That happened fast.
The 4:1 ratio reads badly and decisive in the outcome. Informed comment would be good. Saints that bad?

If the mini topic is umpires..... I feel for the saints. 23/8 count against.
I did not see the game but stark numbers given they had the game in hand till last quarter.
Always tough to win in the west.

I hear you.....AFL claim monday night footy stinks....gees every other code can do it and do it well just they cant so we get lumbered with a thus night game...i dont like it and it hampers my life style....retired or now...i still work sometimes ......
By the way the brothers were quick to jump on Bucklys stage....not yet fellas....and maybe not next week either....Tigers are set to go places this year...Hardwick will have a new contract on the table soon....Much prefer Monday night to thursday night although Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon works just fine frankly. Was not at my best today.
Good to hear confirmation this morning the grand final stays at 2:30 pm. Took Gillion long enoough. Must have been a close call.
Agree re Hardwick. Give him another contract so the tiggers can return football balance and Ninthmond's losing ways. Nothing surer than the tiger's sleepers to start premature making noise. Two wins will do it.

Sorry to hear this outcome. I hope this works in Ben's favor. He was pushing 'end game' constantly. I do not wish anything but the best for Ben and know from working experience what he faces, the difficulties and doing what he faces alone. It is time for silver linings and removing choice might just be the first step. Still young.

The long range kicked off round one, too. Tips were similar to those chosen in the regular tipping.
That will change no doubt.

Too soon and with too many options to be calibrated so, Chooker.
Riewoldt has a month on the sidelines, opens a spot. Saints have a tremendous mid field and McCartin great hands. That is where your start.

Time to back McCartin in, Chook. Shame about Nick but it is not terminal and Big N knew he was in handover territory and he has done so much so carry the 'whole' team into that territory.
Much more to look forward too for the saints .... [like Alex reminding you of that game....] but Nick can do a Bob Murphy. Herald the positives. They are coming.

10 mins in
2 goals 1 = 13 carlton
4 goals 2 = tigers. Martin just goals. Early days.

I expect ....hope for a tough, physical, crunching opening by these two foes. The eighties were strewn with their contests. Be a good time to reinvent one of those games. Both the blues and the tigers are playing for cred and points and its round one. Good to se so many early picks already on the team sheets.

Times have changed. West coast would have been challenged under today's "comfortably satisfied" WADA test. Do not need failed tests to be sanctioned and too many circumstances of gross misconduct with illicit drugs to ignore today.. I am glad these rules are not applied retroactively. It's not the time to rehash this one.
Round one beggars. Never really looked forward to a tigger/blues clash but happily watch this tonight. Bombers are a chance against old rivals. I am guessing i have overleveraged on friends gere as financially been realigned against a piss 'n poo win. Happy to pay given its round one. The danger game is geelong over in perth. Easily see freo get the chocolates. Saints and the dees should be the learning game to see how younger lists are tracking.
Round one never goes a predictable way. Just where the upsets are is the question.
Good luck with your picks.
